2/6/2011 - 4 Night Dream - Update 3/5 Animator's Palette

Royal Palace Dinner

After Mixology, we headed back to the room to change clothes and get ready for dinner. At 6:00PM, we were be shown our table by a guy who had no idea where he was going. Problem was our table number was right next to a child's placing.

173u.jpg

This doesn't seem right.
Quickly our server came to the rescue and stated that we were put at the wrong place (no really?) and were led to the correct table.

We were given our menus and a new assistant server came by for our drink orders. Having had a lot of alcohol at the Mixology class, I opted for a coke and my husband a Sprite.

Shortly our bread arrived:

It was really good!

Our table mates hadn't arrived yet so our server took our order. They ended up arriving while we were in the middle of our appetizer and the server got their pacing done quickly to match up with ours by the time of the entrée.

I went with:
Pomegranate Glazed Duck Breast with Gerwurztraminer Gelee and Pomegranate Glaze

178nc.jpg

I loved it! It wasn't very fatty and was just the right size.

My husband went with:
Iced Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp - white and green asparagus, micro greens, and lemon-dill dressing with horseradish cream

176ea.jpg

He enjoyed this.

For the soup/salad course, we both went with the same thing:

Belle's French Onion Soup with gruyere cheese crouton

179c.jpg

So good! Just enough onions for it to not be overpowered with them.

For the entrees, I decided to be a bit different.
Roasted Wild Boar Tenderloin - sweet carrot and onion potato cake with a red currant reduction

181sn.jpg

I really liked it. I'm glad I went with the choice despite thinking it might not be something I wanted.

My husband was not adventurous and had:
Royal Palace Aged Angus Grilled Beef Tenderloin and Lobster Medallions - sauteed snow peas and marquis potatoes with a cognac reduction

180tr.jpg

He really liked the steak but thought it was a bit on the smaller side. The server offered to bring him out another one but he declined.

Next up was desserts. Having skipped desserts entirely the night before, I was a little bit of a pig, assuming my husband might help me, and ordered 2 desserts!

First Up -
Tahitian Vanilla Creme Brulee with Macaroon

184pf.jpg

If you've read my other reports, you know, I love creme brulee! I really liked this one even if I only allowed myself to eat half of it because of my 2nd dessert. (Also I have no idea why my server brought us out a plate of cherries)

Grand Marnier Souffle infused with fresh orange zest and served with creme Anglaise

185gm.jpg

186do.jpg

It was so good. I was kinda expecting a souffle like I had at Bistro & it to be cold. Even though this one was hot, I still really enjoyed it!

My husband went with his standby:
Mango Cheesecake with whipped cream and fruits

187lzs.jpg

No complaints out of him while he finished the entire thing!

Overall this meal went way better than our meal at Enchanted Garden. The pacing was better. In fact, we were happy when our head server actually introduced herself, seemed friendly, and we made sure she was aware that it was our anniversary on this cruise. I learned later I shouldn't be happy about such things.

As we finished up our meal, we decided to head to Evolution to enjoy Match Your Mate, or at least so we thought.

Early Evening Fun

We headed to Evolution as it neared 7:45pm to watch the early edition of Match Your Mate.

Problem was, it looked like this:

188tz.jpg

Yeah empty :(

We sat at the bar and were greeted by the two very bartenders that taught us all about Mixology today.

The cruise staff were going to wait a few minutes to see if anyone was going to show up so we decided to get a cocktail to pass the time.

I went with a Citron Martini & my husband had a Mojito.

Both were wonderful!

As we sipped our cocktails, no one else showed up. They said hopefully more people will show up for the 10:30 show and to come back then.

After we finished, we headed back to the room to make our own drinks and head over to Villains Tonight! We had two treats waiting for us in the room.

Our invitation to dinner tomorrow evening from Remy.

Inside it mentioned if we would like to discuss wine choices or the reserve wine list to show up at 5:15 the night of our dinner. We passed on that option as my husband doesn't enjoy wine and that opportunity would be a waste for him.

LOLOLOLOL! We were there too! We walked in...not another soul in the bar. We ended up in Skyline. Sorry we missed you!

Loving your trip report. We must have had the same dining rotation too. 6pm dinner ERAA. We had terrible service on night 1, but discussed it with server and head server and from then on out things were definitely better. Can't wait to read more!

Great trip report! Keep it coming! I'm coming back to check for updates multiple times a day! (Yes, I'm addicted to these boards! :)

I'm loving your TR! It's neat to read a cruise TR, I haven't done that before.

The Dream looks like a neat ship with lots of interesting activities...I was salivating over that mixology class!

Great report! I never knew there was such a thing as the Mixology class, so now you've done it! :rotfl: Another "must do" goes on the list.

Looking forward to your Remy report. I think I'd better make sure I've eaten first, though ;)

I love your TR!!!! I am experiencing a major Disney Dream food coma by sight and haven't even physically eaten any of the food. :rotfl: This "young" padawan is learning many from master Yoda...:yoda:....Must lose 20 pounds to gain 20 back on the Dream....:rotfl2:

You must have been that couple that was leaving as we were coming in then. We just missed each other!

That was our dining rotation. Our first night service was awful but our head server never came over and honestly the only time I saw here was for the 2 minutes on Royal Palace evening. I made sure I made comments about it on my survey

Thanks! Hopefully my laptop will behave (i'm having issues turning it on today) and I can get the rest of Day 2 up. I understand being addicted to the boards!

The Dream looks like a neat ship with lots of interesting activities...I was salivating over that mixology class!

I'm glad you came over to the cruise area to read my report! It really is a great ship especially for adults and kids.

Yay for more 'must dos' there really are so many on these cruises you never can seem to fit them all in. Remy was amazing!

Hehe I understand all about the Disney food comas. Luckily I never seem to gain weight from vacations so it evens out. I definitely do not eat this well or much at home thats for sure!

Villains Tonight Part 1

At 8:30pm, we headed down and across the ship to the Walt Disney Theatre. We went for the seats where I had been the night before - Port Box Seats. It allowed for me to get some really nice pictures without having to worry too much about the people sitting behind me seeing the LCD screen.

My husband and I really enjoyed this show, even with the snafu! It did have a different tone to it than the other shows so I can see why certain people might not like it but for my husband and I, it was our favorite show of them all.

As the show was transitioning to the next scene - well it broke.

231ki.jpg

The lift wouldn't go up!

They quickly called in a cruise staff person to host some trivia for the audience and give away some prizes.

233rs.jpg

Some people got up and left because they didn't want to wait.

Villains Tonight Part 2

After about 10 minutes, the lift went up and the show went on! Woo!

Late Evening Fun

After the show, my husband decided he was ready for bed. I had mentioned on our cruise date thread that 10:30pm at Skyline on Nassau would be a good time to meet up. Well I showed up and ordered a Manhattan. I loved the light up menus for the bar!

Well no one showed.

By 10:45pm, I gave up and headed into Evolution to watch the rest of the late version of Match Your Mate. It was a hoot! I'm glad the medieval couple ;) ended up winning. Once the show was over, I decided to call it a night and headed back to the room for sleep.

Thanks so much for your great trip report! Family and I are sailing on a 5 night in June & can't wait! I love all your pics & reviews and can't wait to read more :-) Thanks again for sharing!!

Sorry we never made it to any of the meets. :( I'm glad you finally got to enjoy Match Your Mate, though! We were back in our room with the kiddos enjoying a drink on our veranda.

What a shame other families left the show early. The photos look great! We'll be on the Wonder, wish we could see this show! Thank you for the photos!

I'm glad you are enjoying my report :D I hope to have a few more sections up tonight - hopefully getting to Remy either today or tomorrow.

ISorry we never made it to any of the meets. :( I'm glad you finally got to enjoy Match Your Mate, though! We were back in our room with the kiddos enjoying a drink on our veranda.

I understand! Its vacation and meet ups just seem to not happen sometimes. Enjoying a drink on the veranda sounds like a great way to spend an evening! I think next cruise we will end up going for the veranda as my husband and I spent more time in the room than I orginally thought we would.

What a shame other families left the show early. The photos look great! We'll be on the Wonder, wish we could see this show! Thank you for the photos!

Yeah, its sad that people left when the show had the glitch but Disney did a good job trying to recover from the issue. Hopefully the pictures made it seem like you were there! The Wonder has amazing shows of its own :D
