Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

/
Sooooo.... you may or may not have noticed that I've deleted my tentative ticker for a possible B'day weekend this October.

Not to worry, I'm not as :sad1: as you might suppose.

Ed was actually reading (gasp!) this report last night and, of course, he noticed it. (Gee, had I somehow neglected to mention my scheme??)

"You know," be began, "what I'd like to do instead..." Uh-Oh. Don't tell me he's resurrecting that let's rent an RV and drive across the country idea again!

"Let's save our points and take a really long trip... like two weeks... to Disney next summer. Then we don't have to run around so much. We can really relax!" (To Ed, it's not a true vacation unless you spend a decent amount of time relaxing, aka spending time at the pool or just hanging out at the resort.)

So, it looks like we may be doing another family trip after all. But it will have to be the dreaded Melt-Your-Butt-Off-in-August Trip and it won't be until 2012. Oh well! Two weeks is two weeks!

Kathy

But I see the Mommy & Billy ticker is still there. :thumbsup2 I think a two week family trip will be worth the sacrifice of the birthday trip... especially if you are still going with Billy in December.

I’ve been scheming to get there in November – the kids have a half week of school the week of Veteran’s Day (same week as Jersey Week) & it will be Alex’s last year of elementary school… :rolleyes1 You know how badly I want to see those holiday decorations, plus it's the end of F&W. The only problem is that it’s Tim & my 15th anniversary that week too & we've talked about trying to get away alone. Tim actually seems to like the idea OK (doesn’t love it) but it seems strange to take a family trip to Disney World for your anniversary. :headache: It was actually Tim who sparked the idea when he said he didn't want to go away & leave the kids alone with our mothers - too much for them. So we'll see... I'll keep you posted with any developments. :goodvibes

Yes, the Mommy & Billy trip is still ON!

As you know, our family went during Jersey Week two years in a row and loved it. The weather is perfect and you can usually catch the Halloween decorations at the beginning of the week and the Christmas decor by the end of the week!

I'd definitely go that week again if it weren't for Tricia not wanting to miss a single day of high school. :headache:

This TR has been a bit difficult to keep up with... usually I try to do individual replies with quotes and it just hasn't seemed to be happening this time. :rolleyes1

Quick funny story before we head to lunch.....

While Julie, Kathy and Anne Marie were travel from the airport to Kidani, I traveled from the Magic Kingdom to Kidani in record time. Oh what shall I do to pass the time????

First I have to say that I love the grand lobby at Jambo House but the lobby at Kidani is so cool when you are staying there...it feels like a boutique hotel. Small and cozy and they are staffed to the hilt, I always saw a CM who was able to answering questions without waiting in a line.

It was a beautiful day to be outside so I spent my time with these guys

and chatted with the CM who was stationed down by the animals.

Have about 10 minutes of being the only guest viewing the animals 2 woman came down as well. There were as far from me and you can get in that small area. One lady had the same hair color and style as Anne Marie and her friend had similar hair to Julie but it was lighter (as in highlights). Was this Anne Marie and Julie? I wasn't sure so I moved my location....still they didn't look my way. Ummm....should I walk right over to them? Gee that would be awkward if it's not them. I reasoned that there were 2 of them to my 1 so I decided to let them approach me! Then (thankfully) the CM went over to them to say hello. Turns out that they were locals and the Anne Marie look-a-like's sons had worked on the Wild Trek tour at AK as engineers (for a local company) installing the rope bridges and such.

Now I return you to our story....the five of us (Heidi, Amy, Kathy, Julie, & Anne Marie) had checked out our Villa and were in need of LUNCH and waiting for Jessica and Tracy to join us!

. We got ourselves situated and took a connecting bus over and had our rumbly tummies lead the way to Mara

None of us actually took many pix at this point so these are some images from online:

The ordering line was a bit confusing cause it wasn’t actually a line…but you’d go up place your order and they give you a ticket and buzzer, you self served for your drinks or any other desserts etc. and then paid. One very nice thing about Mara is they have a semi decent fixin’s bar, which Heidi and I discovered was a blessing addition to our meal choice.

There was plenty of inside seating and some tables outside near the pool area…we all knew we wanted to sit outside! I scoped us out a table near a kiddie pool spot where hardly anyone was at. It was so nice to finally sit down w/ these ladies and start our trip together.

Shortly after we sat down w/ our orders, Amy got word Jess was at Jambo and she made her way over to our table and got herself some lunch too. It was a beautiful day already w/ blue skies and that glorious sun beaming down us. The chatter and friendship was instant and we were getting excited to meet up w/ Tracy and get to the Studios.

I know you want to know what we ate…. :rotfl:

Amy played it safe w/ her chicken nugget meal, while Anne Marie definitely went out of the box and had a falafel pita.

Heidi & I both ordered the chicken flatbread

100_8909.jpg

Which had a bit of a kick to it, but topped w/ sliced tomato from the fixing bar it was quite tasty.

Kathy ordered the turkey ciabatta sandwich…it was HUGE and Jess has the pepperoni flatbread.
(correct me if I am wrong)

We also ordered a few boxes of Zebra domes…wow these are a rich heavenly treat.

I can’t remember what all of conversation was about that first meal of our trip (but I am sure Kathy can fill in some of the blanks). Once our bellies were full, we got up to head back to the busses and gather our things to head out to DHS. But that little kiddie wadding pool was just calling my name…or my feet and I just couldn’t help myself I kicked off my sandals and walked right through it.:rolleyes1

Now you must now I typically would do no such thing if my kids were around… and I would say the relief of being here and just feeling so free to be carefree was wonderful…this certainly wouldn’t be the last of many silly things I would do during our stay…

As we waited for the bus back to Kidani, we snapped some pictures:

Once back to the room, Jess had time to drop her things and many of our luggage had arrived and I was thrilled I wasn’t the only one w/ a large suitcase…we decide to get settled quickly as we awaited the arrival of Tracy even though our targeted time of 2 pm to catch the DHS was approaching….but in our flurry of organization and chatting….did we miss a call/text?

Sitting outside by the pool with a group of friends eating good food sounds so wonderful right now.

Good for you for splashing in the kiddie pool. :cool1:
And I'm glad to hear that there will be more 'silly' things' to come. That's what you are supposed to do on girl trips - be silly, be free, laugh loud and long. I love it! :goodvibes

And as for the zebra domes, I absolutely 'heart' them!

I loved the blog post Kathy! :thumbsup2

Great updates Heidi & Julie - Heidi, I'm glad you got to enjoy the heat before the rest of us brought in the cold air from up north!

Julie - I'm glad you got to that update before me... I forgot what everyone had to eat!

What a great lunch date!! I'm glad you guys were able to meet up and have a great lunch!! Can't wait to hear about your afternoon at DHS!!!!

I just love the idea of girls only trips!!!

Still Day One,

I'm going to jump right in with my whopping number of food porn pix! (2)

I had the Turkey Ciabatta Sandwich... it was HUGE! (And delicious) Although I did scrape off some of the olive-stuff... I'm not a big fan of olives because they are so salty. I just picked at a few french fries because the sandwich really filled me up...

Next is a shot across the table of Julie's Chicken Flatbread, which she says tasted better with a little tomato added from the fixin's bar.

What a lovely table Heidi found for us by the kiddie pool! We were shaded by palm trees and surrounded by flowering bushes. The warm breeze was heaven after coming from the land of snow, ice, and slush!

We were so busy eating and talking that we missed a few text messages... Amy checked her phone and saw that JPFamilymom (Jess) had arrived and sent her a message to meet us at the Mara. Then she and went inside to meet her, thinking that it would be easier than giving her directions to our table.

I suppose I don't have the details written down because I was too busy stuffing my face!! We had been so hungry and the food was really hitting the spot. As my grandmother always used to say, "Hunger makes the best sauce!" :goodvibes

Kathy

And for those of you who aren't familiar with Disney chicken nuggets, that's a little bit of my lunch over on the top right of the picture... if you can see past the zebra domes. :rotfl:

I was the one texting with Jess during lunch & went to the lobby to meet her. I found her halfway between the lobby & Mara. I'm glad I found her because she seemed a bit frazzled after a long day of travel - but I'll let her tell you about that. ;)

I remember one of our topics of conversation was some kind of mother's potty talk - you know about our kids and their bathroom habits. :rolleyes1 I recall looking around to see if we'd be grossing anyone out!
