Spa Villas - do I have to wear swimsuit?

For those of you who have experienced the spa villas, I'm hoping you can give me some direction on this. I've read a couple of post suggesting that swimsuits are mandatory/highly advised while enjoying the verandah jacuzzi. Is this so?

Seems sort of contrary to the whole spa experience which, of course, typically involves you being in your birthday suit under a robe and any soaking in a jacuzzi or tub being au naturale. I'll do it if necessary/mandatory/customary of course, but I just think it's odd I'd be expected to into my swimsuit to soak for, what, 15 minutes, and then have to peel a soaking wet suit off to get my massage.

What was your experience?

It's not mandatory, but seems to be expected. We honestly didn't know that we needed to bring them, until they asked if we wanted to change into swimsuits. We offered to run back to the room to get them (not an easy task since we were far aft) but they said it was okay if we went without them.

Now, given how exposed that verandah is to the outside, if I were doing the spa villa on a port day, I think the suit might be mandatory, or you risk flashing everyone next to you in port. We were at sea, so maybe that's why they didn't push the suit issue.

I didn't know swimsuits were required until I received my confirmation call and it reminded me to bring one. There is a hook located next to the hot tub where you can hang your suit after your finished to let it drip dry. Mine ended up still being soaked and I just wore my cover up back to my room and I was given a bag for my wet suit. I wouldn't say they're required, just highly recommended.

OK, thanks to you both for the info!

I guess I hadn't considered the modesty issue on a port day since I'll be there on a sea day. Like I said though, barring personal modesty issues, it seems odd to require a suit at the spa where everything else is bare skin. But, hey, I'll just be happy to be there, even if I have wrestle out of a sticky wet suit midway through the experience :D

If you are in the first spa villa on the Magic I would definitely recommend one  - we had a couple of CMs overlooking us, chatting over the railings, on the top deck during our couple's choice session. They may not have been partcularly aware of us, but we were in clear view in the jacussi, and we found their presence most distracting (not least, as we were on our honeymoon). ....

Frustratingly, the spa attendants had left us for our "alone" time, so we had no way of getting them moved along.

We complained after, but the spa and DCL just kept passing the buck back and foreward, and it took major persistence by us to even get the smallest compensation for what was a ruined (and expensive) experience).

The villas we were in had a bunch of additional coverings that seemed to have been added to keep it well covered from viewing. We couldn't see anywhere where anyone could see us. We did however hear folks talking, and weren't sure if they were above us, or in the villa next to us.

We've done the Spa Villa twice, both times in our birthday suit, both times at sea, no one ever mentioned wearing a bathing suit??

Hi everyone, glad I stumbled on this thread. We're headed on our first cruise and have booked the couples villa spa. Your info and tips are extremely helpful!

Another question for you folks: are we able to bring adult drinks with us? Plastic containers?? Wine in our own drink cups??

Thanks!

We have done this twice as well - both at sea and never brought suits or even considered it... no one mentioned it to us either.

They do have water available during the hottub portion and then you get the tea and fruit at the end. I am sure if you wanted to bring your own wine for afterwards, you could. I think you can also pay for champagne for after the massage/treatment portion.

Hmm, well now I'm confused again. I guess I'll bring the suit along just in case and if I can soak without it, so be it.

We did it on a port day, right at scheduled departure time and (as above) were reminded to bring swimsuits.

The swimsuit reminder must be new. DH and I have done it in the buff at sea, and the way it is set up, you could close off the front and not be seen. Just remember, your neighbors CAN hear you...the people next door to us once apparently forgot that in the heat of the moment and my ears got way too much information on the goings-on on their villa deck. :scared1:

I don't remember be reminded to bring my suit, but I wore it there and took it off for when we got in the jacuzzi. My complaint about that experience was that the jacuzzi was so hot that after 5 minutes, DH and I got out and sat on the recliner in our robes for fear of passing out.

No suit notice for me and I did not need one. I did not find the edge of the tub close enough to the window to bother me. It was windy - in Cozumel, so I think she had part of the door to the verandah closed off. If there was a ship docked next to you though I might wear one.

DH and I did the spa villas on the morning we went to Key West. No swimsuit reminder was given, and we were in the buff for our jacuzzi time. We pulled into port just as we were served the fruit and tea at the end of our experience. I was glad the robe was big on me and wrapped around me securely! I could definitely see where if you were having the jacuzzi time on a port day, some people might feel more comfortable in a swimsuit. On a sea day I would forgo the swimsuit again, JMO.

We loved the spa villa experience!

I have done the villa experience before but I don't recall something. Do they drain the hot tub in between uses? I can't imagine getting in the water after a couple just had "relations" in it. Ewwww...

Did we ever find out the answer to this question?? I never thought people would have "relations" in the hot tub here. I mean, they know other people will need to use it after them!

I'm assuming that the swimsuit reminders are only for when they're going to be docked. But everyone knows what happens in the spa villa stays in the spa villa. :rolleyes1

A word of warning for the Dream... you are in FULL VIEW of the wing bridge!!! I was getting out of the Jacuzzi (in the buff) just as an officer walked on the wing. :rotfl2:
