Hey! Congrats on your wedding! I may not be able to answer all of your questions but I can sure answer a few.

There are lots of ways you can incorporate Disney into your home wedding, like using Disney music, having a Disney-themed cake, putting hidden Mickeys on things, just to name a few. I'm sure other people will have loads more ideas though.

As far as the weather in March, it's really hard to say because the weather here between Jan-March is a little unpredictable and it fluctuates a lot. It can be warm one week and the next it's really cold. March will be a bit warmer than Jan. and Feb. but it could still get a little chilly, and there may be rain, or there might not be. It's really tough to say. The crowds should be fairly reasonable and not too packed since you're going the first week of March. It's just before Spring Break so you should be fine. As for swimming, I guess it depends on what your tolerance level is. I was just a POR having lunch on Sunday and we walked over to the pool and there were LOTS of people swimming...and it was about 60 degrees outside! Now for me, that's way too cold for swimming, but like I said, it depends on what you think is "warm" and "cold".

As for hotels, you might want to look into the Value hotels (All-Star Movies, All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, and Pop Century), they have deals during certain times of the year where you can get a room for less than $100 per night. The moderate resorts are not bad either.

The parks that have the best fireworks are the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios doesn't really have fireworks but their show at the end of the night (Fantasmic) is so awesome! It's my favorite after the Wishes fireworks at MK.

I'm not sure I can answer your question about Universal Studios, as I don't know what kind of budget you are on, so it would really depend on if you can fit it into your budget. I do know that you can do both parks at US in 1 day, and right now the tickets for a 1 day, 2 park pass is $112 per person, and a 1 day, 1 park pass is $82 per person. It will probably go up a few dollars by your wedding. Plus the cost of food and souvenirs, all which are around the same prices as Disney.

You should keep an eye out from now until then for discounts for the hotels, they usually release some kind of promotion closer to their booking dates, and the have a meal plan promotion that they do too (somebody else will have to give you better details on that).

Hope all this helps, and good luck and congrats again! :cheer2:

Congrats on paying for your wedding yourself, I think that's the only way to go!

There's no place fancy (i.e., Deluxe resort) that will be cheap. The nicest moderate is Coronado Springs Resort. There's a general discount out right now, and probably there will be one in 2012 also, so be sure to get SOME kind of discount! From the top floor of the Casitas section at Coronado, I believe building 5, you can see fireworks from both Epcot and MK.

Be sure to have it noted on your reservation that you're honeymooning. Buy some "bride and groom" mouse ears and wear them everywhere. You will get a lot of positive attention (and sometimes even some pixie dust... no guarantees but you never know).

Do you plan on having a bridal registry? If so, you may want to also consider Disney's honeymoon registry. That way, people can donate towards your honeymoon and you would be able to get more of what you wanted :)

Okay, here's my take! We are also in a somewhat similar situation, so hopefully I can be some help. We are also going to Disney for our honeymoon, and we are on a budget. First question, about the season: I went to Disney about 4 years ago the first week of March and it was really nice. They sometimes say that this is when Spring Break season starts, but most schools have it a bit later so it really wasn't crowded at all. Average wait times for the major rides were usually between 20 and 40 minutes, not bad at all especially in the middle of the day. The weather was nice, it was sunny and nice out. It was cool but not really cold. Me, I'm a person that is always cold, so I could have used a light jacket, but my friends were all fine in t-shirts the whole trip. However, we did not swim at all. We drove to a beach one day and I was freezing, they went in the water a little bit but could only stand it for a few minutes.

I'm not sure exactly how much money you're looking to spend on the hotel, but a moderate might work nicely. For our honeymoon we're staying a Port Orleans Riverside, I've stayed there before and it's really beautiful. It's got old fashioned mansions, a river, and horse and carriage rides, very picturesque. I would really try and stay at one of the moderates if you can afford it, because while the values are fun they are really family-oriented and don't have any sort of romantic feel to them.

Fireworks: I love Illuminations at Epcot. The best thing I ever did was when I went with my dad, and we toured the countries and ended in Mexico. It was about two hours before Illuminations started, so we got some snacks and drinks at the Mexican quick service (I think it's called Cantina something or other) and grabbed a table right by the railing on the water. We had a fantastic view.

Universal: I would try and get there for a day or two if you can, especially if you're a Harry Potter fan :yay: However, it will be a bit more money for tickets, and if you're not driving you'll have to find a way to get there that will cost some extra cash as well.

As someone else mentioned, the honeymoon registry might be a good idea to help cut costs!

You will need to make your reservations for Disney first. Then go to the Disney honeymoon registry site and register. After that they will send you a gift card. Once you receive it, you'll need to put the number from the gift card in to activate your registry.

After that, guests can go online and search for your registry. The funds that they give you dont necessarily have to go for that item, since it's all going on a gift card anyways. But the items are there for them to give to make it more personalized to you :) hth!

Universal is about 20 minutes from Disney so I don't think it is necessary to get a hotel over there, unless you want to. :)

You should be able to get a good discount for a room around that time of year. The weather should be pretty mild. Just plan to dress in layers and bring a light coat, just in case.

As for swimming, the Disney pools are heated. :cool1: I remember swimming in the pool as a kid in January at Disney and being comfortable while my mom sat by the pool all bundled up. :rotfl:

Universal is a fun place to visit but if you can't fit it into your budget. You won't be missing too much. (In my opinion, it's overpriced for what you get) Harry Potter World is pretty cool but still pretty crowded.

Something else to think about is restaurants. If you want to have a nice dinner on Disney property it is a good idea to get Advanced Dining Reservations at 6 months out. Otherwise you might not be able to find a good sit down meal when you get there.

Allears.net is a great resource for any questions you might have about planning a trip. Start there. :)

you could also use a honeymoon type registry- it would fit GREAT with a disney wedding- it is called uponourstar.com and you an put Disney honeymoon things on it as a registry- just an idea, could be fun!

Traveler's Joy honeymoon registry worked really well for us. They had an instant registry designed for Disney World so once we chose it, we had little more to do because everything was listed!

As someone said before, all of the money donated to a Disney honeymoon goes onto a gift card, which you can use all around Disney World like regular money. Because most of the Disney vacation is paid for in advance, if you want you can also call Disney and have them re-credit your credit card for the hotel/tickets every time you get something given to the card - I believe you can do this up to a few days before your trip. If you receive gifts after that I'd just use them for souvenirs, food, and activities!

We used Honeymoon Wishes and a travel agent to book our dream Disney trip. We liked it better because the funds weren't given to us in the form of a Disney gift card. We also had the expertise of our travel agent to give us tips and to use the money for paying off the trip.

Congratulations!
