Hi Shannon!

We are very happy with the counter service options at the BC and in the surrounding areas. This sticky on the restaurant board lists several options: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2483560. The menus on this site for Hurricane Hanna's and BC Marketplace are not complete, so I would suggest checking the menus on allears.net for more details:

BC Marketplace: http://allears.net/menu/menu_bcmp.htm
Hurricane Hanna's: http://allears.net/menu/menu_hh.htm

MsCoz2000 took some great photos of the HH's menu, and natebenma just posted them right above your post. While HH is near the pool, it's much more than a "pool bar" and has a menu that we think is comparable to CS locations in the parks. It's located right off the path around Crescent Lake, and they have a nice seating area.

BC Marketplace also has lots of breakfast items that are not on the menu - cereals, donuts, fruit, juice, milk, etc. that we buy on arrival day and keep in our room fridge for breakfasts.

While Beaches and Cream is a TS restaurant, they also have a walk-up counter for ice cream - we love that for late night treats! The Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin are right next to the BC/YC and offer more CS options, including the Boardwalk Bakery. We like to stop at the Bakery for a quick breakfast on the walk from BC to DHS in the early morning. You can find menus for those locations on allears.net also.

If you have park hoppers, you'll have LOTS of counter service options, as World Showcase is just steps away! While this may not be helpful for breakfast, it's a great option for lunch, dinner or snacks. We usually spend the day at another park, and then end the day with dinner at Epcot. We usually have TS dinners, but you could easily do this with the counter service locations. I always tell friends considering BC that World Showcase is the best food court in all of WDW!

Hope that helps a bit - happy planning! :wizard:

Hi Pixarmom! :goodvibes it's getting uber-close now, :yay: I think I am at 29/30 days or so now!!! :cool1: I was wondering what do you like to order at Hurricane Hannah's? Is there anything on the menu that is extra-yummy? I am thinking of using my QS credit there on our arrival day.... or perhaps, I should just go over to Epcot and find a nice QS restaurant there? (any recommendations, besides sunshine seasons, (as we ARE eating there once already during our trip).... Originally I had wanted go to Beaches and Cream, but it takes a TS credit, and I only have a CS to spend....all other credits are accounted for. No sense in paying out of pocket when I have a QS/CS credit available to use! :)
so....WWYD? any CS in particular you'd recommend? (oh, and not Yorkshire Fish and Chip shop either as we are eating at Rose and Crown that evening, and I will be ordering fish and chips! :lovestruc)
TIA for any ideas!
~ Marie
PS...Did you get a chance to upgrade to Club Level yet?
I decided to stay put, even though I priced out AKL CL and a bunch of rooms opened up at my time once the new discounts where available.
I haven't tried BC before though, so I decided to resist temptation and keep my fingers away from the phone (it would only have been an extra $150.00 or so to change over)..... BESIDES, my ME yellow tags are already on my suitcases :yay: and they say we are BC bound!!!! :rotfl:

Counter-service selections at BC do look a little thin compared to ther resorts - particularly for breakfast which is what I'm concerned with. Does BC Marketplace have Mickey waffles or French Toast, potatoes, etc?

AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!! Decisions, Decisions :rotfl:

I am REALLY thinking about upgrading from GV with DxDDP to CL and using the TiW. We have stayed CL a couple of times and I am starting to think about how convenient it really is to have that quick breakfast, and a light dessert, plus the midday snack... (then I don't have to worry about using up all the DDP credits).

I just don't know whether or not to book YC CL or BC CL  I know the offerings are the same, but is one any less busy than the other? The room decor doesn't seem that different to me (granted, the BC lobby is prettier IMO, but I am only walking through it, not sleeping in it ;))

Can someone please help me??? :flower3: Especially if you have stayed at both. Is one any better than the other? lounge CMs? anything that can help with this decision?

TIA!
Kristin :)

That's true - since childhood, I've stayed at Poly, BC, WL and CSR multiple times each, once at CBR and once at Sports. There are more breakfast offerings at all the other resort CS locations - especially the Pepper Market at CSR. Part of the reason BC works so well for us is that we're not big breakfast eaters. We're fine to get stuff from BC Marketplace for our room and eat an early TS lunch in the parks. And on relatively rare occasion that we want a larger breakfast, we'll make an ADR for a character meal. So that won't work for everyone. The BC Marketplace menu on allears.net was accurate on our last visit (July 2010), and it was mostly breakfast sandwiches. Someone who has been to BC more recently could confirm.

For breakfast they have yogurt parfaits (which are a snack credit), pastries (snack credits), a kid's breakfast platter I think had either french toast or Mickey waffles. I know we got one at least one day, I just can't remember which was on it. They might sell both. I also think they had another hot food option.
Here's what Allears says:
Breakfast 7 - 11 a.m.
Ham and Cheese Omelet Croissant $5.99
Cheese Omelet Croissant $4.81
Made to Order Yogurt Parfait $4.49
Fresh Baked Pastries $2.19 - $3.59

Hope that helps!

Hi Marie!

Depends on what you're in the mood for on arrival day and how much energy you have! Hurricane Hanna's is a good choice for something immediate and quick, like burgers, and our favorite CS in Epcot for lunch are in Japan and before the renovation, Mexico. (It looks good post-renovation, we just haven't tried it yet!) Sunshine Seasons also has great variety, if you want to head into future world. We tend to stay in World Showcase to eat (other than our traditional arrival night dinner at Garden Grill.)

No switch to CL for us, and I really hope you're happy with your decision to stay put at BC! Once you get used to the convenience of BC, you might not want to leave!

Thanks. I had checked Allears and that was what had me concerned. We'd probably do Cape May one morning and possibly a couple other TS breakfasts at the parks (like Tusker House, or CP). But the rest of the mornings would be CS. I'm still trying to convince DW to choose BC over a monorail resort and I don't want her to use the lack of breakfast choices for her arguement - even though I'm really the only big breakfast eater in the family (I can eat breakfast foods all day, every day).

We've stayed at both YC and BC. We really like both but our personal preference is BC. We just like the atmosphere a little bit more - a little bit more "kid friendly". YC is great too, especially if you are looking for a less busy lobby.

We prefer staying CL to the Deluxe Dining Plan. We love the convenience and the BC/YC cl cms are fantastic. Now the the kids are "Disney adults" we prefer the TIW to the DDP.

We love Hurricane Hannah's burgers and dd loves the turkey and mozzarella sandwiches.

Between Hurricane Hannah's, BC Marketplace and all the EPCOT cs places I never think there's a problem with lack of cs! Our favorites cs at EPCOT are the bakery in France, the bratwurst in Germany and the orange chicken in China!

Right now my TA has a YC CL (GV) room on hold for us. BC CL only has standard view available for my dates. I asked DS which he wanted (since it is a bday trip for him) and he said he doesn't care, as long as he can "go down that slide some more!" To him the rooms looks the same anyway. He would probably be oblivious to the kid friendly vs non kid friendly aura too. (And don't worry grown ups, he is a super polite child who will not be running around the lounge, touching all the food etc. He knows all about "lounge etiquette ;))

Mmmmm, Bratwurst in Germany :) I had forgotten about that one, I love it too. I guess I will leave it up to Andrew to chose what he's in the mood for after a long flight! I hope we get the chance to say Hello when we are there. I'll be sure to have my YC/BC pin, and I am blonde, 40 and glasses, mid length, but above the shoulder hair....and my son is blonde, taller than me, (i'm about 5'4") sporting a "bieber bob" with glasses :)

Hoping Teena will chime in soon. I had a lovely chat with my colleague in Ottawa about her Disney Christmas vacation and she tells me she dined with a lady who works at BC named Teena.

IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL.............

I hope I didn't make it sound like YC wasn't "kid friendly". We started staying at YC when my kids were 6, 7 and 8 and they had a ball. BC is just bustling with more kids since Cape May Buffet is there. I would pick the gv over the standard view any day too!

Have a wonderful trip!

I added another night to my BC stay in May and I am so excited!!! I tried to upgrade to Club Level, but was told nothing was available for my time frame. Bummer, but I think I'll be able to make due with a water view, LOL! I can't wait! Come on Spring!!!:thumbsup2

Could anyone tell me about your kids Albatross Cruise experience? We are trying to decide between this one and the one at the GF, which seems to be the most popular. We are staying at the Beach Club and figured that we would do this one because of the convenience. Couldn't find much info about it elsewhere so any input is appreciated!

Will be staying at the YC for a week in June.
My son and daughter-in-law will be at the Swan for a seminar she is attending. We are planning on babysitting the granddaughters (2 & 1)princess:princess: for a couple of days.

Do we have to add the granddaughters to our reservation for the 2 nights they will be with us? Would that effect their parents reservation at the Swan? That is booked by her company.

Will we be able to take them into Storm Along Bay without them having a room key?? :beach:

Thanks :flower3:

Hi Kristin- I have stayed at BC CL twice. Personally, I think your idea to upgrade to CL and ditch the Deluxe Dining Plan is an excellent one. We had the Deluxe plan in 2008 and although we are all very enthusiastic eaters, it was way way too much food for us!!! And if you do a lot of sit down meals, it is also a lot of time spent eating, and eating when you are not even hungry.

The great thing about TiW is you don't feel like you HAVE to get dessert, just because it is part of the plan. If you want, you can get appetizers and split an entree- lots more flexibility than the dining plan.

The CL breakfast is absolutely perfect! Lots of selection and enough to tide you over until an early lunch at the parks around 11 or 11:30.

It is really nice to get a sweet treat from the lounge on the way back to your room at night- I was always amazed that my boys had room for a late snack every night, but they did!
