Are you staying at the Yacht or Beach Club or the Beach Club Villas and want to meet or be recognized by other DIS'ers? Thanks to a wonderful design from RustManFan of the Creative Designs Forum, and the enthusiasm of DIS'er Janloz, we now have fashionable pins available upon request and free of charge!

If you would like to request one, please PM TeenaS at least one month prior to your visit to the YC/BC/BCV, providing the name on your reservation, resort and your arrival date. Your pin will be available for pick-up during your trip at the Beach Club front desk if you are staying at BC or BCV or at the Yacht Club front desk if you are staying there. Please tell the person at the front desk that a friend has left an envelope for you. Do NOT say that Teena left an envelope for you! This is the only option for pickup and since this is a volunteer project, we regret that we are unable to mail a pin to you prior to your stay.

Due to the limited quantities available, we must limit requests to 1 pin per family so everyone who wants one will have the opportunity to get one.

Disney's Beach Club and Yacht Club FAQs thread

A sandy white beach along a shimmering lake creates a feeling reminiscent of the lazy days of summer along the eastern seaboard. Relaxed yet luxurious, Disney’s Beach Club Resort shares an array of amenities with its “sister resort” Disney's Yacht Club Resort just a few feet away — a sandbottom pool, health club, full service marina and a beachfront promenade with direct access to Epcot as well as the unique shops and restaurants at Disney’s BoardWalk entertainment district. Classic surroundings capture the essence of New England luxury at the upscale Yacht Club Resort. Its comfy chairs, hardwood floors and shafts of sunlight streaming into a welcoming lobby invite you to linger.

Check out this YouTube video with a mini-tour of parts of the resort. Room depicted is in the Beach Club resort

The Beach Club and Yacht Club are similar resorts in terms of service and amenities, and have equal access to the shared pool complex, health club and video arcade. Both resorts have the same management team in place.

Some minor differences have been noted by guests:

Beach Club
Lighter, beachy decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby can be active and lively with families waiting for meals at Cape May
Closer to EPCOT and Marketplace Gift Shop
Approximately 50% of rooms in all room categories have full balconies. The remaining are standing balconies.

Yacht Club
Darker woods and nautical decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby is more serene
Convention attendees are more likely to be booked at YC
Closer to Hollywood Studios and Friendship Boats
Most rooms have a full balcony

Stormalong Bay Pool and Flying Jib Slide

Check Posted Hours, Changes Seasonally

Refurbishment News:

While Stormalong Bay has provided guests with endless enjoyment for many years, it is time to refresh the pool's water slide as well as the kiddie slide. Beginning January 3, 2011, the pool slides will be closed to Guests for refurbishment. The slides are scheduled to reopen in early February. The pool area will continue to be open throughout this renovation and Guests staying at the Yacht and Beach Club and Beach Club Villas will be able to use the Luna slide at Boardwalk Inn while the Jib Slide and Kiddie Slide areas are not available. Shuttles will be available to bring guests to the Boardwalk Inn pool.

While other areas of Stormalong Bay may be closed during the winter months for scheduled maintenance, there will always be a portion of the pool open for resort guests, weather permitting.

Please note: Effective August 1, 2010 ALL MEMBERS of your party must bring their room keys to SAB for admittance.
There are also reports that DVC members who are staying at other resorts are not permitted to use the pool.

Experience currents, a whirlpool, and a shipwreck water slide in this exciting pool complex. Tube rentals, complimentary life jackets and swim diapers are available at Poolside Gifts located under the gazebo. The tubes are $3 for 1 hour or $10 per day. According to a lifeguard, July 2010: Outside floats are not permitted for adults in SAB. Pool noodles, either from home or purchased at the pool gift shop, may be used in SAB. Young children may use floats that surround their body if an adult is within arm's reach. These rules are subject to change and may be affected by crowd conditions.

Build a castle or dig in the sand in the shallow beach area. Enjoy a swim in the unique sand-bottom pool section.

Experience the sinking sands area, which is kind of like quick-sand. Your foot sinks into the sand when you put it down.
An unusual, but fun sensation!

There is a side entrance/exit to the Beach Club which takes you mere steps, probably 3 minutes, from the International Gateway Entrance. It is near room 1501.

This was really handy for us a couple of times this summer when it was wicked hot and when it had just started pouring.

You have to go through a lot of hallways to find it, so the best way to do this is to follow the signs to room 1501 from the lobby.

Here is a photo of the pathway near the "secret entrance"

Housekeeping is different using Disney Vacation Club points than when you pay nightly for a hotel room.

Trash & Towel Service - For stays of seven or less nights, Trash & Towel Service is provided on day four. With Trash & Towel service, Housekeeping will: Empty trash and replace liners in trash bins, provide fresh bathroom linens, replace shampoo, facial soap and bath soap, replenish facial tissues, paper towels and toilet paper, replenish coffee, sugar, cream and sweeteners, replenish dishwashing liquid, dishwashing detergent, sponges and laundry detergent as needed in one-, two- and three-bedroom Vacation Homes.

Full Cleaning Service - For stays of eight or more nights, Full-Cleaning Service is provided on day four and Trash & Towel Service is provided on day eight. After that, the cycle begins again on day 12. With Full-Cleaning service, Housekeeping will provide everything included with the Trash & Towel Service, plus: Change the bed linens, vacuum and dust, clean the bathroom(s), clean the kitchen/kitchenette and wash the dishes.

You may also choose to pay for daily housekeeping or have additional towels etc. Check with the front desk for information and pricing. 2010 Pricing: Housekeeping Studio Full Cleaning $30; Trash and Towell $15; Laundry Soap $1; Soap and Shampoo Package $5; Extra Towel Package $6 per bathroom; Coffee Package $3.

If you are not using Disney Vacation Club points and paying "cash" you will have daily housekeeping.

Villa Floor Layouts- Does anyone have these, or a decent link???

Special Thanks to bytheblood for the information about Beach Club Villas

Way to go, Dee! :cool1: Thanks. :surfweb:

Thanks Dee for starting the new thread!!

Everyone remember to add this to your subscriptions!

I think this is something I should know but am having memory problems!! BC and YC have separate check in areas, right? Does ME drop everyone off at one spot or does it have two separate stops? If two separate, which is first, BC or YC?

Thanks.

Thanks for starting the new thread.

Called this evening and added our flight info for ME. We have great flights and have almost an extra day (arrive at 12 pm and leave at 6 pm) so we can do a park on the day we leave and have lunch (DHS is having the EMH that morning so one more spin on TSM before going).

We have water/pool view booked so I also put in room request of lake view (most important) and king bed (if one is available). Hope it works. Made sure she put that the lake view is most important.

The next thing is dining. I have some reservations but I am not 100% with them. DH says he doesn't care to know until we are leaving (looks like no dining plan as I have park tickets and it seems like a waste to buy them in order to get dining plan).

@ Cinderumbrella
regarding your question about the depth of the water at the bottom of the big slide- I don't remember how deep it was, but I was reviewing a photo of the bottom of the slide and the pool is marked 4 feet (12 meters) where the slide lets out. So that seems to agree with the info you got from brunette earlier.

Thanks for starting the new thread Dee!! I love this thread it's become my addiction... along with Disney!!!

Yes, they are separate. When we went this past July, Beach Club was first of the two, but we stopped at the Boardwalk and one other hotel before the Beach Club.

Enjoy your trip!

THANKS DEE!!

Love the Yacht Club! This is our new home!! LOL!

We're still here and posting using their $9.99 service. lol

Any questions let me know.

Thanks Kelly ... I'm so sorry we're going to miss each other again. I'm sure you will love CL and I can't wait to hear all about it when I get back from Jeanne's.

Dee: Thanks so much for all that hard work getting the new thread started. You may want to edit where it says smores are available to purchase at the beach in the evening. They did away with the smores and now only have marshmallows. We asked in the Marketplace and they don't sell the crackers and chocolate there either. I suppose everybody could bring their own though.

Looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow ... so many disboarders are arriving this week and next!
