who is going to WDW pregnant? tips, advice, excitement!

Luna, you are right; you are healthy and that's terrific. I am glad you had fun.

We leave on Sunday; I can't believe the wait has flown by. Can't wait to have a break from my 50 hours plus work week! I do get to grade freshman comp papers in the hotel, but hey, I can handle that if I won't be on my feet lecturing and hosting workshops for hours a day.

I was hoping my nausea would abate by our trip, but that is not the case. 14 weeks and sick as heck! Any tips for quelling this monster enough so I can have fun? Tips that don't involve ginger or saltines? The flavors are too strong right now.

Thanks all!

Have you tried the wristbands that help for sea-sickness?They sell them at most drugstores. I guess they help push on pressure points that help abate nauseaness. But, they should be safe during pregnancy.

Disneyworldbuff, I haven't had a chance to pick one up but they work from what I hear! Maybe at the airport they will have them?

Disneymom, you are like me. Bring your big jug of water, crackers, eat constantly but only a little...if you feel better and you think you want a bigger portion, tell yourself NO because it will take you to the bad place.

Carry the bag, just in case. Swipe some from the plane.

If you are like me, you retch more than actually get sick. Take some peppermint teabags (I love celestial seasonings) and stick one in your water bottle.

Can you tell I have really been dealing with this?

If vitamins make you sick, don't take them during the day while at the parks, or switch to gummy kids' vitamins for the week. Even though I am much better, vitamins still tear me up about 45 m. later.

Also, take it easy. Avoid strong smells, like the bakeries, etc. You can also pick up some genuine ginger beer. This can help, although the flavor was too strong for me.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice!!! specially the saying NO to bigger portions... I'm a foodie, so that's gonna be hard
I'll try the peppermint bags too... I've never heard of them before so thank you!!

We will have a collapsible cooler in our room; if you plan on making it to the hotel in 3 hours or less, stick it in one of those bad boys. I dug the heck out of my black and blue salad from Sci Fi at 1 AM. ;)

We just told our parents yesterday about the pregnancy. We're 8 weeks along and will 12 weeks during the trip. His parents were telling us that I should be able to ride quite a bit. My parents tell my its a good thing that Disney has lots of shows. My parents are coming with us so I might be doing alot of waiting for everyone else to get off the rides:eek: I have to talk to the dr and see what she thinks I might need a note for my parents!
This being our first I can see my parents being worried. This is #7 for the in laws so they are excited but much more relaxed.

We are planning to go back in 20 days and I will be 29 weeks. We went in July and I was 11 weeks. It was fine. Just made sure I kept eating, drinking lots of water and finding benches to rest on. Right now, I am on light restriction and I see my OB this week. I am hoping she will clear me so we can go back to WDW. We have a 6 yr old and we surprised her with this "last solo" trip with us. I will be totally bummed if she says I can't go.
Here's hoping for great news!:goodvibes

Most of the rides will be safe for you to ride. I rode quite a few in July at 11 weeks. Just use common sense. No roller coasters, nothing super bouncy and you will be fine.
I didn't ride Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain or Goofy's Barnstormer at MK. I didn't ride Test Track or Malestrom at EPCOT. I didn't ride Tower of Terror, Star Tours, or Rockin' Roller Coaster at DHS. I didn't ride
the safari, Dinosaur or Primeval Whirl at AK. There maybe some more that I forgot. Pregnancy brain, you know! :thumbsup2There are rider restrictions at the front of each attractions. Maybe this will help your parents feel better about you riding the attractions! :goodvibes
Have a great time and don't stress about it!
Congrats!

- DON'T push a stroller, carry a bag, or carry your other kids - don't exert your body any more than you have to... that's your husband's job! ;) Save your energy for all the walking you're doing.

this is a great tip! my husband carried our backpack with the camera in it and our passes/some extra water/sunglasses/suntan lotion/etc. I didn't have to carry anything which was great because I already had extra weight on me from the baby.

Did either of you ladies have a small sip or two of wine? I won't be drinking a whole glass or anything, but I have the doctor's blessing for a little taste or two.

I didn't at food and wine but I did have a small sip of beer here at home once at dinner with my husband and I think at Yak and Yeti I tasted my husband's beer as well with a tiny sip. For me personally I don't think it's a big deal.. as long as you are "taking a sip" of beer a couple of times a day or every day. lol.

My best advice is to get a note from your OB stating that you are PG and when you are due. Bring it to guest services and get a note to bascially cut every line. It worked wonderfully with an impatient 2 year old.

so you just took a dr note to GS and got to cut every line? I dunno, I think this isn't really fair. Was it because you had a young child with you? or just because you were pregnant? I stood in every line and I was 23 weeks along and I just don't think this is a good policy if that's what disney is doing. I'm not blaming you.. obviously if disney let you do it then you took advantage of it .. but I'm just wondering was there a specific issue with your pregnancy that allowed you to do this or could any pregnant woman, at any stage get this pass?

I hope you get cleared to go!

If anyone else mentioned this I apologize....hard to read all posts.

Fo those of you going in late 2nd trimester and beyond....I loved my maternity belt....it pulls some of the pressure off your pelvis.

And all the other stuff everyone else mentioned.....including the foot massages.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but if you're in Epcot and need a quick nap, go watch The American Adventure. With the show being about 30mins, I found it to be a great pick me up.

I was 8 weeks when I recently went, so getting that nap was a lifesaver! I also carried around lots of fruit snacks, crackers, and water to help with morning sickness.

Joining not b/c I'm pregnant or will be (soooooo done, LOL), but my cousin's DF is coming on a trip with my family in June and she'll be about 27 weeks along at that point. I have a question to ask the women who have done Disney while pregnant; since there will be 3 kids and 4 adults, would it be mean to have DC's DF rest on a bench while we ride whatever rides? I figure my niece and cousin (his first visit) will want to do the rides and if his DF can rest while we go that might be smart. What does everyone think?

I'll be 28 weeks when I go in April and my plan is to sit and rest on a bench when the rest of our group hit up the rides that I can't do. I certainly hope she doesn't expect you to all miss out on the rides b/c she's expecting. Just be sure that you all go again so she can experience it ;)

This will be my fourth time @ WDW knocked up. 6 months with son in '06, 7 months with daughter in '07, 12 weeks with this gal (just found out it's a girl!) in September '10 and I'll be about 27 weeks with this gal when we go in three weeks. I won't go through it again since I've posted before many times but I'm an old pro at this and it can be done and done well. This year though we intend to do the parks early and on magic hours and go back to room after dinner. No later then 6:00ish and either swim or just crash. This pregnancy has been a bit more exhausting being I got the two little ones now as well as being a few years older.

Godo luck and congrats to everybody out there!

I've been to WDW while around 12 weeks (had no idea I was preggo), six months, four months (second pregnancy) and seven months (second pregancy). I was healthy prior to getting pregnant both times and low risk fwiw. The first time going pg I didn't change anything, rode what I wanted, ate and drank what I wanted. Didn't slow down a bit. Second time (six months with first DS) I drank more water, stayed off the thrill rides, still rode Safari, learned where every bathroom was, and slowed down a little. Third trip, drank more water, used the Rider Swap tickets since DS was under a few height restrictions, slowed down a little but that might have been also due to having a three year old. Fourth preggo trip just upped the water intake and stayed off the thrill rides again.

If you are healthy, feel up to it, low risk, have talked with your OB (primarily for peace of mind) WDW can be a wonderful place to vacation. If you are low risk and able bodied I don't see a reason to get a GA card, walking is good for you and the baby, drink plenty of water, listen to your body and know when you need to slow down or stop. Going in warm/hot weather is an entirely different ball game especially if pregnant when over-heating and dehydration can be a factor.

Have fun, enjoy it and if this is your first think of slowing down a bit and learning the location of all restrooms as training for when you go back with your child(ren).

Well I am so happy to see these trip tips. We leave Thursday for our 5 day adventure (I've been several times before) but this time I am doing the Disney Half Marathon. I will be almost 15 weeks when running, but have full doctor's approval. Needless to say I will definately be using everyone's tired leg tips!:rotfl:

I'll be 21.5 weeks when we leave in February. I have hbp, but I'm thinking all that extra exercise will help with that. I'm really hoping to know if this baby is a girl or boy before we go so I can get a little something for him/her while we are there. This little one was conceived at POR in October, so he/she should be used to the DW hype. :rotfl:

I am 20 weeks and we leave tomorrow.....I am so excited because we just found out it is a boy!!

SO while the fam is on the rides I can shop for blue stuff. After two girls it is exciting for a little pirate!!

Congratulations! Have a great time! We are leaving January 29 and I will be 30 weeks. I am also having a boy and am excited to shop for him at WDW. I have a 3 year old daughter so while she is on the rides with her daddy, shopping sounds like a great idea! As my daughter already told me that my belly is too big to go on the rides lol.
