I feel like I'd be wasting my snack credit if I used it on a bag of chips... I've been researching the best and "most bang for your buck" way to use your snack credits. In my research, I found the Only WDWorld blog. Wow, some great info there, but I found this most helpful:

Top Iconic Disney World Snacks:
1. Dole Whip or Dole Whip Float (pictured)
2. Mickey Ice Cream Bar
3. Popcorn (Especially on Main St.in Magic Kingdom)
4. School Bread from the Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Epcot Norway
5. Zebra Domes from Boma and also at Mara in Animal Kingdom Lodge

Top Breakfast Snack Items:
1. Warm Cinnamon Rolls from Main St. Bakery in Magic Kingdom
2. Yogurt Parfait
3. Cheese Danish and other assorted Danishes.
4. Blueberry Muffins and other assorted muffins.
5. Fresh Fuit Bowls

Top Lunch Snack Items:
1. Pork Egg Rolls at Yak & Yeti Quick Service in Animal Kingdom
2. Chicken Fried Rice at Yak & Yeti Quick Service in Animal Kingdom
3. Mixed Greens Salad at Catalina Eddie's, Toy Story Pizza Planet, & Rosie's in Hollywood Studios
4. Soup at Rosie's All American Cafe in Hollywood Studios

Top Disney World Snacks For Desserts:
1. Butterfinger Cupcake at Starring Rolls Cafe
2. HUGE Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich at Main St. Bakery
3. Napoleon from Boulangerie Patisserie in Epcot
4. Any Dessert ( Butterfinger Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie) From Sunshine Seasons in Epcot

Now- What are YOUR tips on getting the "most bang for your buck" when it comes to snack credits?

For some reason, on the ddp I am never hungry to use the snack credit for food, so I always use it on a smothie or Icee. My husband likes to use it on Rootbeer Floats.

I always get the bang for my buck when I buy what I want. Whether that is a dole whip or a bottle of water.
To me it isn't the price on the item, but the value in which it is to me. ;)

Yes, I do completely agree with you. I'm also trying to find ways that I can use my snack credit for a breakfast or light lunch to make my meal plan stretch farther.

A good bang for the buck tip on snack credits is to make sure you use them all. I think that plenty of people "save" them by not "wasting" them on cheaper items like sodas and bottled water and then end up either not using them at all or scrambling to burn them on check out day.

We just buy snacks the same way we would without the plan, using the credits first.

Have you checked out the Confirmed Snack Sticky at the top of the page? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2381706

jjohnson works very hard to keep track of snacks that board members are able to get with their DDP credits throughout the year. Though it's not an 'official' list from Disney, it's a very current snapshot of what is available with a DDP Snack credit.

GASP!!

where do you get a Rootbeer Float from????

There are quite a few places that offer Rootbeer Floats. If you double check the sticky that I linked to in my prior post, you can see many places that they are available at.

Spent our departure day in Epcot, had lunch at Biergarten. The Werthers caramel shop there had lots of yummy snack credit items -- caramel chocolate covered strawberries, freshly made caramel popcorn, stuff like that. Also some very interesting caramel apples but they were $10 each and not covered by snack credits, got one anyway!

We also get fudge at the Magic Kingdom Main St. Bakery.

And we love the frozen cokes in all the parks.

Those carrot cake cookies at The Writer's Shop in Hollywood Studios are a pretty good way to use a snack credit!

OK......now this I have got to do! Oh let me count the ways I can spend mine and DH's credits at this store. :rotfl2:
That food porn thread is driving me nuts with the pictures of the goodies they offer.

I think I am going to have to add $$ to the budget just to sample 1/2 their stuff. LOL

Agreed. Most of my snack credits go towards SmartWater. Although I do love splurging at Main St Bakery.

In Oct when we go, we plan on doing 'lunch' with snack credits in Epcot.

The best way to use a snack credit is to get what you want, when you want it. Trying to simply "maximize" your credit use may simple wind up with you getting something you don't really want, just because it's a good "deal".

If I want to use a credit on a drink, pretzel, ice cream bar, or box of popcorn because that's what I want at that moment, then I'm not going to feel bad about not getting great "value" for the credit.

I like the smoothies, and can't wait to try a Dole Whip with a snack credit!

We go against advice and don't spend credits on some of the cheaper things (esp water or soda, we'll go ahead and pay OOP). For us, its a fun treat to have extras at the end of the trip (we usually only have 6 or so left), then the kids have a blast picking bags of Mickey cookies, chex mix, Mickey ear rice crispy treats, and taking them home to their friends (or ride-home snacks).

:mickeybar Happy snacking!! :mickeybar

The last time we were in the World, we did the regular dining plan, and used snack credits on Dole Whips, bottles of water, and breakfast items. I imagine we'll do the same thing when we go down there next month. I think we may do more CS breakfasts this time, but that should leave us with snack credits for Epcot, which we didn't get to visit last time.

Basically, we go with the flow. Why spend money OOP when we've already paid for food with the plan? Spend the credits first, on whatever we want at the moment, and if we decide at the end of our trip we want something else, we'll get it OOP then.

The best value for snack credit for me is everytime one of my kids says, "mommy can I get some popcorn, ice cream bar, cookie etc." I say, "SURE!!"

We're on QSDP for our trip in 4 days and my kids are loving they get to choose TWO snacks each day!!

We used a bunch on our last day at the resort shop to buy big bags of snacks for the plane ride and some small treats for the kids friends.popcorn::

Never had a Dole whip though and I can't wait to try one on our next trip!:yay:
