We are going to the world in 5 days YIPPEEE!!!:cool1::cool1:

I wanted to know what everyone's thoughts were on these two restaurants. I have always really liked the atmosphere of SAI and whenever I rode the little boat ride in Mexico I would always envy the people eating there. We ate there on a recent trip and I really liked the food as well as the atmosphere (even though a lot of people knock it on here) but this time we were thinking of trying the new place Hacienda de San Angel...the menu doesn't look that appealing to me but I like the idea of sitting at the windows for Illuminations.
Does anyone know if all the tables can see Illuminations???? As of right now I'm kinda leaning towards SAI since I really love the atmosphere....but they don't seem to had the steak I had last time! Decisions Decisions!!!

P.S. We have ressies at both places now...SAI at 6:30 (plenty of time to eat and then find a place for Illuminations) and HSA at 7:30

Whichever way you decide, please make sure and cancel your duplicate ADR....there's probably someone else out there that can use the extra table that you're holding. :hippie:

My one and only trip to the Hacienda, on the third day it was open, was outstanding. It's a bit pricey, but they are trying to earn a reputation for the best service in World Showcase.

I can also say that the folks across the way at the Inn seem to have taken the opening of La Hacienda as a wake-up call - my meal there on the same trip was the best I have ever had there. Let's hope that their shaky reputation on the Disboards will become a thing of the past.

So I would say you can't go wrong either way - it all depends on which atmosphere you think you'll prefer.

Jumping in here, I have a similar question about seeing Illuminations from Hacienda. Do you have to sit outside to see it / are there window tables inside/ how well can you see the fireworks from those windows/ is it super loud? (My dd loves to see fireworks, but not hear the extreme loudness).

I'm also interested in SAI...

even if you choose Hacienda, if your adr is at 7:30, illuminations is not til 9:30 so that would mean taking a table for more than 2 hours and Disney schedules tables about 45 minutes apart....not to mention that severs work for tips and that would be unfare to them to...IMO

Go with SAI. We just got back from WDW Monday and ate at La Hacienda Friday night (we had 7:30 ADR's). We were seated at our requested Illuminations view table at 7:45 and between drinks, appetizers, meal and dessert, the timing was just right for illuminations. The food is "contemporary mexican" (they have a young chef who is trying out new things). The chips, appetizer and margaritas were good. None of us were thrilled with our entrees. Our server was a sweetheart though. At 9:30 we were very excited for illuminations to start as we had a perfect table in front of the windows in the center of the restaurant. I wish I could say it was amazing. We all kept saying we wish we were outside. The sound is just too low inside and you can't take it all in as well. My husbands favorite food is mexican and his favorite all time attraction at WDW is Illuminations; he said he would never go back to La Hacienda.

Another vote for La Hacienda!! I have eaten at both & the food is far superior to San Angel Inn IMHO! Best meal we had at Disney last week! You won't be disappointed! :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for your opinions! In the end we decided to go with SAI again since my hubby says there is NOTHING on the menu he thinks he will like :( He had the chicken at SAI last time and really liked it....so we cancelled the Hacienda ressie and I'm thinking of trying it as CS or just walking through it and checking it out at lunch....we will be back in April so maybe we will try it then! Thanks again Guys :thumbsup2
