Black Friday Shopping Disney Magic 2010

Just returned from 7 night cruise over the Thanksgiving Holiday. The first two days the ship was rocking but other than that, a good cruise.
The down side was the Black Friday sale. This should have been a fun spoof like adventure, instead it was a sickening display of greed. It was held outside the Theater. Pushing and shoving I expected, but the people who grabbed stacks of merchandise without even looking to see if they wanted it were shockingly rude. I have never seen such selfish, greedy behavior. I am contacting DCL and suggesting they don't do this event in the future.

We were also on this cruise and I totally agree with you. I could not believe the people that just swept the table up in their arms only to bring it to the side to look at each thing they grabbed. I had to laugh as I just could not believe how crazy people were acting.

I was also on this cruise and witnessed this unbelievable display of greed. I am not usually a "Black Friday" shopper in fact I usually stay clear of shops that day but since I was on the ship and read about the great deals being offered in the personal navigator, I decided to check it out. I got there around 7:35 and I guess the madness happened at 7:30. I could not believe the stories I heard of pushing and shoving. Several people were very upset. I talked with one lady that said she picked up a tshirt off the table to look at it as a possible gift for her granddaughter and a lady grabbed it out of her hands and took it along with an armload of stuff to her stash of merchandise that was piled up two feet high on the floor being guarded by her teenage son. WOW! One of the sales people told me hours later when I returned to shop without all the chaos, that people were hurling themselves onto the tables with open arms and scooping up merchandise without even looking at it first. The funny thing was that most all the merchandise on the tables that was being offered at such a great deal was from the baltic and mediterranean cruises and Im guessing that most of those people had no idea that the words Disney Cruise Line Mediterranean Cruise 2010 were written on the front of all those photo albums that they were so obsessed with. My guess is very few of those people that acted that way were even on any of the 2010 Med cruises. Truly a disgusting display of human behavior. I hope Disney learned from it and doesnt try that again.

These reports are shocking and pretty sad. I hope you do contact Disney. If enough people complain maybe it won't happen again.

I was there too and my husband has it on video...i will post. I asked a lady that had stacks of merchandise if she was buying all that for herself or was going to sell it on ebay....she must have had 20 of each thing....so rude. The people that were running it had no idea that was going to happen and said they will never do it again. It was suppose to be in the spirit of black friday but turned into a greed fest. most of the stuff was from the Med cruises anyway and unless u sailed on that why would u want it. It must have been bad becasue I saw captain John there just B4 8 to see what had happened. even a table broke.

we were in cabin 6048 and had a horrible clangin noise in our stateroom Wed. morning at 2:30...anyone else have that???

That sounds terrible! When I started to read your post it seemed like such a cute idea to have Black Friday, even on the ship, it is a shame people had to ruin it. People can be so selfish.

It sounded like a good idea, but wasn't quite thought through!!!! I don't know how they could do that better, but they must change it or not ever do it again.

Wow!! That is why I NEVER shop on black Friday. There is just no deal good enough to deal with that kind of mess...
