Barcelona sounds wonderful! If we weren't already burning so much of DH's leave time (not to mention money) on the cruise, I'd probably talk him into going even earlier.

Barcelona seemed very safe to us as we did tours with other DISers mostly. Our only one day by ourselves, we went to the Picasso Museum and walked all over the Rambla. We actually walked from the Picasso Museum to the El Corte Ingles to the Agua restuarant which was about 4.5 hour walk without any problems.

I seem to have a knack for ending up in the "dodgy" areas, wherever I go! :rotfl: I could manage, but DH would have a stroke.

The first time I traveled solo was to England, when I was in my mid-20's (seems a hundred years ago, now). My mom was all worried about me, especially about being alone in London, and I said, "The cops don't even carry guns there. Besides, it's not like I'm going to be wandering around Soho at 2 a.m." Well, guess where I ended up? Don't know how it is now, but Soho was pretty dodgy back then. I just put on my best "attitude" and got out of there - fast.

These days, my motto is, "I used to teach middle school. Nothing scares me."

Oh yeah, put us down for 2 pins and 2 lanyards.

Oh those are gorgeous!

Are you getting the same ones made again with new dates or will it be a different design?

I think the pin for this cruise would be the 'official' logo when it is done. That was the logo for the last WBTA. It was a lovely pin and so well done too. Not expensive either.

Sarah, where do you live? We are in Harrogate. I might have asked you before, but forgotten, so apologies!! I'm a geezer!!;)

The lanyards are wonderful too!

Can I have 2 of each please (2 pins and 2 lanyards) if you decide to do them for this cruise.

How much are they? I did look back through the thread but it's information overload and I couldn't see a price. :upsidedow

We did three weeks on our last vacation so we are only go to do two next time. It is also hard for DH to take so much time off as well

I know just what you mean. Back in the 1980's DH and I spent about 2 weeks in Munich. I wandered by myself around the Olympic village area that I was later told was very dangerous. I have traveled many times by myself and never had any issues. Just act like a local is my motto!!

Sounds like a good one!!

Will do!!

I'm from Malton :goodvibes

Harrogate is a lovely town. Mum and I often go to the 'Knitting and Stitching Show' there, but not this year sadly.

I will make new ones with a different date. I want wider ones like you get on board with horizontal badge holders that seal. Most of us put lots of pins on them and the last ones were very narrow. I like to swim with my lanyard on so you need ones that close and you can carry lots of stuff inside.

This is the lanyard I am looking at:

This is the badge holder I am looking at:

Any suggestions on colors?

The lanyards were paid for by a group that divided up the cost and gave a certain amount of money so all the rest of the cruisers would have them for free. I have already had one volunteer for the lanyard group so I would hope we could do it the same way again.

The pins according to Connie (Con5421) will be about 4,5 or 5 Euros each. You pay me in Euros on PayPal and then I transfer to Connie. If you give as a gift and pay from a bank account, the only fee you pay is to transfer from Dollars to Euros. Obviously if you live in Europe, there is no fee and you could pay her direct.

The pins and lanyard were both given out at a DIS meet the first day on board at 3:00 PM in the Promenade Lounge which was FILLED with DISers.

looking at the colors available, i like either purple, blue or yellow

yeah i saw the photo of the dis meet on the last WBTA, you guys took over the WHOLE of the promenade lounge!

We used to drive through Malton years ago, but of course now we skirt it on the by pass. Very nice place too.

I'm guessing there would still be a fee then, as I would be paying in Pound Sterling, not Euros.

On our upcoming PC cruise, the lanyards are black with, I think, yellow(could be bright green though) writing. They do look very smart indeed.

I quite like the thin ones around my neck, but I do understand the problem for people who want to wear pins. I only wore my WBTA pin and put that low down at the cross over bit, so not a problem to me. Perhaps if the material isn't rough the wide ones would be more comfortable.

Yes, would be a fee to convert to Euros but you have to be sure you mark as a gift. The fee is not very high. Connie is so nice to offer to do this again as she is not even on the cruise this time.

I have always paid a fee even when putting it through as a gift. Not sure if it is because of the money conversion or due to how Paypal get your money from you.
