Adult Exclusive Restaurants - REALLY Adult Exclusive?

We just booked our first cruise ever (3 nights) on the Dream in March 2011. My daughter (15) is really looking forward to a dress-up dinner experience. Both my kids are quite mature (son 14) and I'm wondering if they are very rigid with the age limit on the adult-exclusive restaurants, and if so, what options do we have so that she can have a dress-up dinner?

Thanks,

Mike

There is either a dress-up or formal night in the main dining rooms on every cruise, so your kids will be able to dress up and enjoy dinner in the main dining rooms. There are absolutely no exceptions on the 18+ restaurants, Disney is very strict about that.

You won't even be allowed to reserve dinner for the four of you. The system knows their age, and that's all they care about.

While I agree that I think my kids could have gone and behaved wonderfully there too, I would imagine that almost every parent would think the same about their own kids, whether it's true or not.
Therefore, DCL has it set up so that there are NO kids under the age of 18 at all.

The formal night dinner in the regular rotation dining rooms are very nice. I saw women in gowns and men in tuxedos. The dinner was very elegant and the servers do an outstanding job.

That being said, My DH and I enjoyed both dinner and brunch at Palo on our last cruise and it definitely is an adult only atmosphere. These restaurants afford the opportunity for parents and well as, coulples with out children to have some very adult alone time on a family friendly ship.

I am sure your family will throughly enjoy dressing up for the formal dinner and if your DH and you want to dine alone, there is always Palo and now Remy.

Anything Adult only on the cruise is 18 and over only. It is only based on age and not maturity. This goes for the adult dining, shows, pool, ect.

There are chances for kids to dress up for dinner with the normal restaurants.

I agree that there are opportunities for kids to dress up for dinner at least twice for 4 night or longer cruises.

With respect to anything listed in the "adults" section of the navigator. Evidently, kids are now allowed on Galley Tours at the guide's discretion. I've also seen kids at certain "adult" presentations. However, for the most part most of the adult-only items on Disney are strictly 18 and older (spa, Quiet Cove pool, Cove Cafe, nightclubs after a certain hour, Serenity Bay, etc.)

My teen daughter, and some of my friends' daughters, dress formally EVERY night, because they never get to do it at home.:thumbsup2

Not necessarily on the exact topic, but I wish they'd make Bingo adult only.

This post made me laugh as on our last cruise, one of our table mates lost the final jackpot bingo game on the last day by one chip to a 9 year old kid! He said the jackpot was about $3,500.

If it were based on maturity, I'd never be allowed in!
