sorry to hear about the drama with the car hire! Men, huh?! ;) I bet it was so stressful for you & DBF... but so glad you made it to DTD ok and went to Raglan Road! DF & I love it there, such good food & lively atmosphere :thumbsup2

looking forward to the next installment!

Oh the rain!!! I remember the rain well! If I'm not mistaken, that was the 3rd right? I think I wanted you guys to come on the fireworks cruise with us that night but you had your gathering at Raglan Road. We were actually at T-Rex for dinner that night but probably way before you got to DTD.

Anyway.....I would have totally cried too! When people like us, who are sooo into planning every single detail, when something goes wrong, I just can't handle it! A similar thing happened when we went from WDW to the cruise on our honeymoon. We were supposed to get a car (long story) and there it was, morning of the cruise, and we had no way of getting to the port!! I totally cried!

I'm excited for more!!

I remember reading about your car hire drama!!! I think its a good thing in that our personlities are enthusiastic but the flip side is a total low when plans go haywire!

Yep the rainy 3rd July...I really with my whole heart wanted to go on the cruise with you and Tom, secretly more than Raglan Road if I'm honest, and it was funny reading about it in your TR and thinking...'aw we could've been there'...but I felt morally obligated (that sounds too formal but you know what I mean:rotfl:) to abide by my original arrangements...:sad2

We went to Raglan Road on our first night in August 2010 as well... although Dbf wasn't feeling well, it was raining and he forgot to bring his ID so they wouldn't give him any alcoholic drinks... the food WAS AMAZING and the atmosphere was so much fun.

popcorn:: I can't wait for the next update...:)

We think its so funny getting ID'd..if you can see over the bar counter in Ireland your pretty much guaranteed getting served!:lmao: Your DBF probably would've felt more at home with a Guinness! but at least you got lovely food and atmosphere and can use that as your necessity for a repeat visit?!

I was surprised by the vastness of the restaurant, it was huge! was expecting it to be more snug...would definitely plan to return especially if we get to stay in Disney property and make a proper ight of it...

Hi Princess K and:welcome: I'm glad your enjoying it so far! We had a few mishaps at the start but it does level out into a happy holiday! and also I can be a wee bit of a drama queen and stress out when really things aren't that bad! ;) But on his holiday I tried to chill out as much as was possible for my worry prone personality:cool1:...

Have to admit Emma, because I had organised every aspect of the holiday including car hire I have to take part of the blame in that I'd never even mentioned to DBF to bring his driving licence...although at the car rental place I had no such amicable understanding feelings and placed the blame entirely on him!!!

A small advantage of not having the car was DBF got to have a few beers at Raglan road and enjoy the atmosphere...which I agree was very good! But totally not what I'd expected either it was like a traditional Irish pub but totally Disney-fied (in a good way):cheer2
:

We awake bright and breezy after our night out at Raglan Road...:lmao: although this photo seems to indicate otherwise...

cathy-florida037.jpg

Still with no car hire we hopped on the i ride trolley and jumped off at the sea world stop, wehre the bus driver said...'just give them a call and they'll pick you up'...so DBF picked up the phone (just a receiver no numbers...) and a lady on the other line said our car would arrive in a few minutes! we both thought this was pretty cool! just hanging out waiting to get picked up...

cathy-florida038.jpg

here's a picture of our sweet ride:banana:...

cathy-florida057.jpg

upon arrival we queued outside the building for about twenty minutes and eventually got into the beautiful reception area

cathy-florida039.jpg

a friendly lady checked us in and gave us our dolphin swim time...must've been between 1 and 2 pm, and gave us the lanyard's for around our neck which also served as ID if we wanted a drink, we followed another CM down through beautiful vegetation over little streams and we were just looking at each other thinking 'WOW!!!':cloud9:

After getting the orientation talk we were too hungry to even find our lockers but headed straight to the restaurant!!!

cathy-florida040.jpg

cathy-florida041.jpg

the breakfast was delicious, we just had little bits of everything, a bit sad there was no bacon but it also seemed fairly healthy, at least by my calorie laden standards! and was lovely to eat outdoors in such nice surroundings...

We had a long time beofre our dolphin swim so we found our locker got into our swim stuff and began to explore on our own a little bit, the weather was a bit drizzly but not too cold and we were going to be in the watr anyway was our thinking :)

I think DBF looks quite handsomely rakish in this photo...:rotfl:

cathy-florida043.jpg

I think this is the dolphin lagoon behind us where we'd be taking our swim later :lovestruc

cathy-florida045.jpg

a kind cast member was laughing at our efforts of taking our own photos and came to the recue!:goodvibes

cathy-florida048.jpg

this was the front door of the restaurant which we thought was cool

cathy-florida049.jpg

and behind DBF in the photo below is the lazy river, which owing to reasons to be revealed in next post :-)rotfl2:) was where we spent most of our day!!!

cathy-florida050.jpg

Discovery Cove seems like such a great experience. It is definitely on my must-do list for future trips!

Don't you hate when you travel with just the 2 of you, and it is so hard to get pics together? That's why I love the Photopass people at Disney so much!

Oh gosh, thats awful that DBF forgot his licence. I can only imagine how you felt. But from your update of later on in the day it looks like it didn't get you too down :)

Sounds like you had a great night at Raglan :)

Loving the Discovery Cove update, always curious to know about that place and what its like :)

Discovery Cove was a very cool experience for us but the price will probably mean we won't try it again unless we're bringing back kids...:scared1: a scary thought!

DBF only really likes photos that have us in them so we were continuously holding out the camera trying to get a decent picture! wish we had taken advantage of disney photopass but because some of our days were rainy and others were so so hot we got totally distracted and only got one photopass picture! Boo! need to try better next time!;)

Great review so far. Bummer about the license and the toiletries.

Hi!:wave2: and Thanks!!! Forgetting the licence was the worst thing that happened on the trip so at least we got it out of the way early?!:rotfl:

I think my heart may have stopped for about 5 seconds when we realised we'd for got the licence...I was all pleased with myself and my different little folders and everything printed out neatly:confused3...but it worked out ok really...DBF tried to point out the positive side of the situation that he at least got to see the american road system from the bus and asked a couple of taxi driver's questions about red light turning and stuff...I thought this was not an entirely valid point and would have preferred we'd just brought the licence but I let it roll for the sake of a harmonious trip!:lmao:

Discovery Cove was very good, kinda dreamlike in a way, everything just semed a bit unreal! we enjoyed it but definitely a once every 5-10 years for us i think...

After getting a couple of deckchairs and getting a bud light for DBF and a mountain Dew for me and a little bag of pretzels and one of oreo cookies (all free from the cabannas) we strapped on our snorkels and headed off into the lazy river...it took us 2 cycles to get used to breathing properly with the snorkels on and also just enjoying floating along with a noodle...

cathy-florida051.jpg

we also realised that although DBF can swim he panics a bit...and maintains that he isphysically incapable of treading water! so after a wobbly start he donned a lifejacket for our trips round the lazy river!

cathy-florida053.jpg

we really liked swimming around behind the waterfalls with our snorkels on, felt adventurous, like out of indiana jones :woohoo:

Ok so one of the most coolest parts of Discovery Cove is the Ray and tropical fish lagoons where you can snorkel through the sealife...although I had always been afraid of a fish brushing aainst me in the sea and didn;t like too many bubbles in the bath because I was scared Jaws might suddenly materiaise beneath them I just assumed upon arriving at Discovery Cove I would be able to overcome these childish fears and dive right in!

Surprise...no I wasn't!:lmao: so we waded into the ray lagoon and were able to stroke them as they glided past which was pretty cool but when we tried to actually snorkel with the fish I panic-ed because I just get creeped out by fish brushing my skin and DBF was scared he would panic that he was drowning and kick a fish :lmao: in his efforts to save himself!!!

what a pair! hopeless! but we noticed a lot of other families were a bit nervous like us and we tried to at least snorkel in the shallows of the fish and ray lagoon but neither of us ventrued out to the barricuda wall or the shipwreck! and every time a really big ray would glide too close to me I was up and out of the water like a flash!!!:scared1:

Eventually after snorkelling around a lazy river again (sans fish) sounds sad but we genuinely enjoyed it! it was time for our dolphin swim :cloud9:

here is us both with our dolphin...who I've now forgot the name of :sad2:...

scan0001.jpg

Me getting a kiss...

scan0002.jpg

and DBF getting towed back to base!

scan0003.jpg

they actually went really fast! we got to spend about 20-25 mins in the water with the dolphins and this was definitley the highlight of the day and a great experience...a not so great experience was finding out the price of the dolphin photos...yikes!

we rounded off our day by taking advantage of the free bud light for DBF while I sipped my favourite drink ever...mountain dew! the waitress atth Cabanna offered to take our photo
cathy-florida054.jpg

Here's a clue for where we headed on our discovery cove evening...

cathy-florida058.jpg

You remind me of me! I can't hardly stand the thought of fish brushing up against my legs. It seems like a cool experience in theory (I mean, I'd love to try Discovery Cove), but I'm sure I would have a major freak out with the fish!

It looks like you had a great dolphin experience. That sucks about the expensive photos though :(

Oh poodiddly!!! I didn't know you had started yet!!

well, sweet girl....I am here now! :)

Okay, caught up now!! I have always wanted to go to London!!! Oh, and the London Dungeons too!! lol

Wow...Discovery Cove looks awesome!!! That is also on my list of to-do things! Once Hannah gets old enough to do it, or at least we will let Hollie do it since she is our little swimmer!

Oh, oh, oh...I know where your going next!!! One of my most favorite places ever from one of my most favorite movies!! :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

Loving your trip report so far, such bad luck at the start though. I completely understand your dislike of fish. Luckily when we go to DC next year l'll have my DD to look afer so will paddle with them but that's as far as l'll go. Kids are great for excuses!

Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip.

Nice to see your photos of Discovery Cove.. I've never been there - I'm also not a great swimmer & would worry about the rays! .. I've told DF I'll go snorkelling with him on our honeymoon - I'm going to have to be brave! :cutie:

I love Mountain Dew too! never realised it was full of caffeine until recently though.. they've started selling it in England now but it's called "Mountain Dew Energy" ?! lol

Emma princess: x

Oh OH....I know where that last picture is...

Titanic Exhibition!

We enjoyed the experience but kept thinking we should have been more adventurous! We kept laughing at each other being scared but we got talking to a few people around the lagoon that felt the same so don't worry if you end up going I bet you'll have company being a bit freaked out!:cutie:

Oh poodiddly!!! I didn't know you had started yet!!

:yay: :yay: glad you found me!

Discovery Cove was amzingly cool and a very different pace from the rest of our holiday...but I think parents watching their children interact with the dolphins probably get the best kick out of it...so if you get a chance to take the girls...I'd say would make for some good memories!:cloud9:

Think you've figured out my not so subtle clue! what a classic!!! although makes me so sad (esp the older couple and the mummy with her children) lying on the bed) that haven't watched it in ages!:sad2::sad1:

Hi and :welcome: although it seemed horrible at the time we tried hard to just concentrate on sorting the car hire (to be revealed very soon!) and my mum had warned me to let go of my anger towards DBF and just enjoy yhe holiday!

I later found out that at home in Ireland after my distraught phonecall my mum dad and sisters were all acting me out in a not so complimentary manner of how I would be reacting to forgetting the licence...:lmao:

babies would be the perfect excuse to stay out of the scary fish lagoons! :woohoo: they're a good bit colder than the lazy river etc...not suitable for little ones at all ...

Would it be shallow water snorkelling or the deeper waters with a tank emma? either sounds brave to me! but once we got the hang of snorkelling we really did enjoy it...we just didn't have much to look at in the lazy river!!!:rotfl2:

I tend to love all things that are bad for me! thanks for the info, gonna keep an eye out for mountain dew around home now! :)

Oh OH....I know where that last picture is...

Titanic Exhibition!

Hi!!! :thumbsup2 100% correct! DBF had 2 requests in Florida, this and the Kennedy Space Centre, so we managed to tick one off our list by the end of our first full day in Orlando!

So after our long but beautiful day at Discover Cove we got the IRide trolley back to our hotel and then walked down the street to the...

Titanic Exhibition...which DBF had really been looking forward to. We got a vard on our way in whcih was a character from the ship, I was a maid to a 1st class family but DBF got Captain Smith which we thought was very cool!!!:cool1:

This was the last exhibition/show of the evening...and although our actor was a great presenter we think he must've had a date straight after work because we weren't allowed much time to stop and look properly at the information/pictures etc and were allowed only a few seconds for photos before we were herded on!!!

cathy-florida059.jpg

DBF really wanted a picture of us with the grand staircase behind us, but the stretched arm maneouvre wasn't really working out, but luckily a nice swedish couple took ours and vice versa and we were happy with our jack and rose at the staircase shot!!!:lmao:

cathy-florida060.jpg

the guide was actually trying to move us on during this phto and commented on my short hem line saying how I was going to catch a cold in this icy air as I'd forgot to put on the rest of my dress!

DBF was a little bit sad at the rushed tour but really enjoyed the bits we did get to see...here he is among some of the posters at the end...

cathy-florida061.jpg

we ended by eating a nice dinner in TGI's but hadn't yet learned the lesson to bring in a sweater...the aircon was FREEEZING!!! we then waited an hour on a taxi (4th july maybe was the reason for the delay) then chanced making a run through the torrential downpour back to our hotel...BIG Mistake...we were about halfway and a taxi in shining armour picked us up and drove us the rest of the way home! so a watery end to a long day!

BUT...we couldn't be downbeat as the next morning we were heading to CHEF MICKEY'S and the MK!!!:goodvibes

And our car hire dilemma is eventually resolved!:rolleyes1

Looks like you had a blast at DC, great pictures :)

Sorry the Titanic exhibit was so rushed, it looked like lots of fun though :)

Looking forward to reading about your MK Day :goodvibes

The Titanic exhibit sounds really cool. I think it was here in NYC a few years back but I never got to see it. I can only imagine what the crowds would have been like! Love the picture of you two in front of the staircase :)

What a cool experience! Bummer that they were trying to rush you, but at least you go some good pics :)
