Question about bringing alcohol onboard - please read

I understand we are able to bring alcohol in our carry ons when we embark, but my question is for those of you who stay at Disney b4 the cruise - does any of the delivering grocery companies deliver alcohol to your room?

We are flying in and using Magical Express to the resort and the DCL transfer to the cruise. We really want to bring beer/wine with us - but not sure how to get it? Any ideas?

I do not know about the grocery delivery service but they do sell alcohol in the gift shops of the WDW resorts...I don't know if it is all the resorts but I do know in the deluxe ones I have seen alcohol sold...granted they are usually the smaller bottles of liquor and probably more expensive, but may be an option if the service does not deliver....at least to hold you over until a port of call where you can pick some up.

I recall buying a bottle of run at Pop a couple years a go. I think it was 375 ml in size. I recall them having beer also. It was definitely a little more expensive than buying off property, but a lot cheaper than purchasing on board.

Actually, the prices to buy bottled booze onboard are pretty reasonable but the problem is that you can't drink it onboard if you purchase the bottles onboard (other than the wine package). If you buy the booze in the duty free shop onboard they will hold it for you until the end of the cruise and then deliver to your stateroom....but their prices are pretty good.

I have also found that the single drink prices in general on DCL are not as bad as other lines.

OP...you could always take a taxi to a liquor store if you got desperate!!!

Just wondering if we aren't able to get some beer/wine before we leave port canaveral, we can get it at Key West and bring it back on the boat right? We get in real late at night on Friday and are driving over to the Port so not sure we can something picked up before we go over to the ship.

Does anyone know what stores are close to the Residence Inn that we could easily pick up some beer/wine?

Do the cruise lines let you carry on a case of beer or does it have to be in a carry on bag out of sight? Being able to carry on beer helped me convince my DH to take a Disney Cruise.

Yes....you can certainly pick up beer/wine/soda/water, etc. in Key West and bring it back onboard....no problems there.

And there is an ABC Liquor Store on Astronaut Blvd. about 1-2 miles further down from the Residence Inn.....heading away from the RI it would be on your left. we go there all the time for supplies before cruising...in fact, one week from today we will be there!!!

Alcohol must be covered. My BIL tried to carry on a case and was asked to put it in something...he didn't have anything so the security guards at x-ray machine gave him a black trash bag.

Jennifer - I have had GG deliver to my room in the past - they are awesome. However, didn't have alcohol then and I looked and can't find any on their site. Are you sure you had them deliver beer or wine (or skinnygirl margaritas?? :woohoo:)

We use www.wegoshop.com for our shopping needs. Two years ago they happily purchased a couple of bottles of wine for us along with the rest of our groceries.

Best of luck and happy cruising.

Take a taxi. Just map quest the closest place and go there.

Find a beer drinker with a car at the resort and buy them a 6 pack!:woohoo:

We used garden grocery in Jan. The don't show alcohol on the website we had to list specific amounts and brands and they picked it up and billed our cc # the amount we owed. They did deliver to our guest services as our groceries and beverages arrived before we did.

I do believe there was a min grocery order before they would deliver.

It was an awesome service and we were glad to have everything ready to take on board after our Disney days :thumbsup2

There is a Hess station by the Swan/Dolphin and another one across from DTD and they sell sodas, I'm pretty sure they have beer, not so sure about wine.
The kitchen shop at DTD sells wine. Wine is also sold in France, Canada, Italy and Germany in Epcot. Japan has sake. Mexico has tequila.

We have also used Garden Grocer to have beer, alcohol & water delivered with our groceries. You DO have to have like a $40 minimum food order before they'll do it though.

The other thing we did once was to book a car service to pick us up at MCO & take us to WDW - with a grocery stop on the way. We went to an Albertson's that had a liquor store next door. We even faxed in our order a day or two before & they had everything READY for us, sitting in a cart. The cart was stored in a large walk-in refrigerator.:thumbsup2 Then we used the car service from WDW to the port. It actually worked out really good - just about the same price as using the DCL bus transportation. We then used the DCL bus back to MCO after the cruise so we could use the onboard airline check-in service.
