Just wanted to report that I took a survey from Disney recently and they had a Disney Med option that visited Turkey and Greece. I'm really hoping they "GO THERE"!

Interesting! Was there an option that mentioned Eygpt?

No, it appeared to leave from Rome and go the Eastern Med route excluding Egypt. If they did that it would be amazing. I thought adding Tunisia to their route was an inspired idea and while some people did not enjoy the bargaining culture of the area it did feel like you were on an adventure. I think adding Egpyt would be equally inspiring.

We've got 4 ports we'd love to see on an Eastern cruise, Venice, Ephasus, Athens and Alexandria, it's going to kill us with decisions if they come out with a cruise that only hits 2 of them!!!!!:scared1:

On another note, I usually hate hate hate to bargain, and didn't go to the Medina when we were in Tunis just for that reason. But, in Sidi Bou Said me and DH thought at the end of our excursion that the little Aladin lamps would be cute for the kids for a souvenier, so I ran back up the hill with $20 (euro) in my pocket to try and find a couple. Finally found one in a store and asked how much, the guy responded "One Twenty Five", I asked "One Hundred Twenty Five or One Euro Twenty Five, he said One Hundred Twenty Five" :scared1: Well, after telling him I only had $20 a couple of times as the price came down and that I was sorry I had to leave, he sold it to me for the $20. :lmao:

Don't know if my bargaining skills rock that much, or if I still got ripped off! It's a nice solid brass lamp, maybe 6" long with pretty enamel work on the outside.

I second the fact of loving an Eastern Med cruise! I heard and read multiple times that the Greek Islands are beautiful and it would be awesome to experience . My goal is to go on a cruise to pretty much all the main regions worldwide

This is what we're hoping for, too! I love the idea of starting in Rome, since we've never been to Italy and I feel like it would be so rushed with just one day. This way, we could fly in a few days ahead of time. And we really really want to see Greece. Fingers crossed!

Would love to cruise with DCL in the eastern Med but the more I ponder this, the more I've concluded that it has to include Egypt for me. I've looked at RCCL and HAL eastern Med cruises that include Italy - Greece - Turkey - Egypt. I'm willing to pay the DCL premium price if they hit these port but if they leave out Egypt, we'll probably go with RCCL or HAL.

Anyone know of other cruise line that do Eastern Med cruises?

While I agree I'd love to see Disney offer an eastern med option, I booked a cruise on ncl next year that leaves from Rome and goes to Egypt, Cypress, Israel, and Turkey. We are so excited with the itinerary. Only thing that would be more exciting.... If it were a Disney cruise. Maybe someday.

I agree.

I spent 12 days in Egypt in January of 09 and it is so magnificent...I'd love to see a DCL itinerary for an Alexandrian overnight. One day for Alexandria, one day for Cairo. Even two days in Cairo, there is so much to see.

There are several cruises that have those...RCCL is one of them, I have a client on one in January. I'd LOVE to see in on DCL...I didn't take the kids with me to Egypt and I would love for them to see some of Egypt, even just a taste. The coolest thing was the Sphinx, I thought it would be the pyramids but seeing the Sphinx just did something to me...I didn't even really talk for a while afterwards.

FYI, it was weird that the souk in Tunisia was much more aggressive than I found the ancient souk in Cairo to be...but we had a private guide so that probably helped.

What month are your sailing? I see some awesome sailing with NCL but nothing in the Jun/Jul timeframe.

Great picture! I was watching "Enginnering and Empire, Egypt" last night on the History Channel and the commetary said, "....by the time Moses left Egypt, this has already been here for a thousand year...".

I'm also waiting to hear about an Eastern Med option for DCL. I really hope it includes at least Alexandria. There was another thread a little bit ago about the Port of Alexandria mentioning DCL, but I realize you can't put too much stock in that. Stilll, I'll take the hopeful tidbits I can get! My daughter really wants to see Egypt, thanks in large part to Little Einsteins! I'd be happy with Greece and Turkey, but Egypt would make it a no-brainer.

What a coincidence. I was watching that last night too, only it was on Netflix on-demand. Awesome show!!

I took a few thousand photographs, but here is a cool one:

dendara2.jpg

The only full known image of Cleopatra, and her son with Caesar. Located at the Temple of Dendara which is visited via day trip from Luxor.

I am in the middle of watching a tivoed program on Hatshepsut's potential mummy. Her temple was amazing also...built right into the mountain.

When we were in Rome in April, it occured to me standing among all of the ancient buildings that they were new when Egypt was old.

We did the western med in 2007 and would hate to have some of that duplicated for an eastern med cruise--I think if they want to saturate the Disney fan market they need to offer very distinct and different trips---that said, I would still be torn if it left Rome and headed toward Eygpt...to include Greece and Turkey would be too much, unless they started in Rome and ended in Athens. I'm all for an Eastern Med that can fit in Greek islands/Athens, Ephesus and Alexandria!

I would love an eastern med itenerary. Most likely if they did this it would leave from Venice and do the greek islands and maybe croatia? That seems to be a popular itenerary.

From the survey it appeared as if it left from Rome.

Rome...really? Interesting. Maybe it goes around Italy toward Greece? I would be interested to see this intenerary. An Alexandria stop would be awesome.
