AquaDuck--4 decks tall??

From the Disney website: AquaDuck is an exciting "water coaster" located on Deck 12, Aft aboard the Disney Fantasy. During the ride, Guests are propelled at high speeds through an acrylic tube on a thrilling journey up, down, around and off the side of the ship, through the Forward Funnel—down a span of 4 decks—into a lazy river.

So you end up on Deck 8 according to this!! This has got to be wrong!!

I think you have to climb to the top, so you would start at deck 16 if there was one?

Exactly, it starts halfway up the funnel, well above the top deck.

Hmm, I don't see how it goes down to deck 8..... don't think so. LOL
Also I don't think it ends in what the usual term for "lazy river" is... that's just the normal water thing at the end of all water slides. LOL

Could you imagine a true lazy river on a cruise ship...whoa!!! That would be someting.

Spoke to my friend in Germany, whose with her hubby putting the final touches on the Dream. She said Disney is gonna stick to it's guns in terms of height requirements. Has to do with insurance.
When they did the simulation of this, they gathered from all their "investigations"... that the height requirement is necessary in case of an accident. Anything thing under the required height might result in serious injury. Guess it's kinda like the whole kids and air bags thing... "Children under 12 should not sit in the front seat of a car due the possible fatal injury due to impact."
Hope people are going to consider this before they try and get there children on it when they aren't tall enough.

The entrance to it is on deck 12 and according to the website "......the water coaster boasts a thrilling 4-deck drop". Thats what they mean by spanning over 4 decks, so the ship is not in fact 16 decks high (according to deck plans its 14) or go to the 8th deck since thats impossible because thats only rooms

The people at meyer werft will definatley do a fantastic job to have the Aqua Duck be as safe as possible considering how many people will be going on it per day (especially kids!). I read somewhere that they made a faux Aqua Duck somewhere and testing out all the parameters so that all the kinks, if any are noticeable, are fixed prior to the inaugural sailing and so on.

From the DCL website: It was designed for Adults and Children at least 48" or taller.

I think they meant under a certain height would be dangerous, like riding in the front seat in a car under a certain age is. Not that kids under 12yo can't ride the coaster.

Kid 48" and taller can ride... I am just worried about all the people who will want the smaller kids on.

The 12 year thing is what the label says in my car... I was using it as an example.

Part of our decision process in booking the Dream for spring break in March was that our youngest child would be at least 48" tall (she is now 49.5" tall). If we were not 100% positive that she would be tall when we booked last January than we would not have even considered taking this cruise (the disappointment for her would be too great -- she just rode her first 48" minimum height roller coaster this past Sunday and loved it so much she rode it 5 times (I still have the headache from it))

I just wish now that the cruise was 7 nights (with multiple sea days) so we would have more time to ride the Aqua Duck -- I don't think we will have the option to do the Fantasy in 2012 with the vacation plans we already that summer.

But you KNOW there is always that "somebody" who tries to get past the rules. I can see wash clothes stuffed in water shoes already...

We saw someone in Disney last year hike up their child's hair and had like 3 inch sneaks on. It was crazy, why risk the safety of your children for one ride!
