Bahamas in December

We are considering a cruise in December 2011, looked up the average temperature for December and found 79. Is that going to be warm enough for enjoying the beach? Thank you.

I'm wondering the same thing. We are booking a cruise for 2012 on the Dream and I was thinking about December. Can't wait to see the responses!

It's usually nice enough to enjoy the beach but I don't go in the water - too cold! While I'm originally from Chicago, I live in Florida now and the water temp needs to be 75 - 80 before I go in. The kids are fine but it is too cold for me.

We'll be on the Magic for the 11-day Christmas cruise and will probably not swim at Castaway Cay this time.

That's kind of a bummer! I will probably be rethinking a December cruise.

I went on an early January (first weekend after New Year) a few years ago and my friends and I swam at Castaway Cay. I was even living in FL at the time (native Floridian). The water was chilly, but I got used to it pretty quickly. Highs were in the 80's...don't know what the water temperature was. Now that I live in NC, I'm curious as to what I'll think of the water temp when we go after Thanksgiving.
