$290 difference from porthole to Veranda

That is $14.50 per person per night. Do you think you will get that amount of enjoyment out of it? I would do it, but everyone is different. You need to decide what is best for your family.

For me I would rather look out my porthole and book spa treatments or get a special keepsake from the cruise.

We had a veranda on the EBTA and then a porthole on the WBTA this year. I really did not miss the veranda on the WBTA - when I wanted to spend time outside I went to deck 4. I just did not find we used it enough even on a 14 night to justify paying more for it just for the veranda.

Now on the Dream in Feb/March we are doing a double dip - on the first part we have a porthole - the ones with the window seat (this I will use more!) and on the 2nd part we have a one bedroom cabin but we booked it for the room size because it is my DD's 16th birthday and we are celebrating with family also cruising so I wanted more room - it comes with a veranda so we will have one.

I know other people love to drink coffee out on the veranda so to them it is worth it. But for us it is not - so it depends on what you plan on doing - if it is just to see out - save the money.

I guess we could always book it and downgrade after we try a veranda on our upcoming cruise in May, if we think its not worth it? I think we would still make out okay on pricing with a 10% off for booking on board if we needed to change.

I booked a double dip for 4/12 and booked the least expensive cabin possible due to DCL being more expensive than other cruiselines. I really struggled with even booking a Disney cruise and not RCI so I ended up compromising a 7 night in a balcony on the RCI's FOS for a 5 night on the Dream. I also figure that although a balcony might be nice, I just don't see us being in our room enough to make the extra cost worth it.

It would be worth that much to me, but worth is such a relative thing. I enjoyed going out on the balcony and looking at the stars, the water, and the other ship we kept seeing... even in the middle of the night. If you think you will enjoy it, the difference is not all that much IMO. If you don't think you'll be out there often, then maybe save the money or spend it elsewhere on the trip.

I agree with you. We love watching the water, sunrises, sunsets, stars, lightning, fireworks, flying fish, waves, entering/leaving port while relaxing, eating, drinking, reading or standing on our verandah. It was worth so much more than an extra excursion, spa visit, extra souvenir, etc for us.

With a verandah you see so much more than you do from a porthole. Plus you get the smell and feel of the ocean air.

That said, we've also enjoyed our inside and porthole rooms. For that price I'd upgrade as I think I'd regret it once on the ship.

Be careful; the price could go up in the meantime, so that the downgrade would be more than what you have now (but, if it's just $300 difference now for the verandah, in that case you'd just keep the verandah).

Btw, the cruise is likely 5 nights, 5 days; that last day you are off the ship early.

We enjoyed our verandah on our first two cruises; inside rooms on our last 3. I did enjoy the verandah, but it wasn't worth (for my sailings) the price difference. I didn't miss it on our short Wonder cruises, would've liked it on our longer Magic cruise (still had a great time!)

Either way, enjoy both your cruises!

Can you justify it with "Funny" disney math? We booked with a TA who offered a larger onboard credit if you booked a veranada, once I took the TA onboard credit off the cost diff it "felt" cheaper.

I had been tossing it around but oceanview for the same area is $1316.16, the same area with a veranda is $1486.16. So with the funny Disney math... The $100 obc and $25 obc for booking online is $1361.16. Or a diff of $45 for our 3 nighter. I will get $45 worth of it sometime during our trip! (I know its OBC but kinda like free money...)
