Fantasy beds...same as Dream

Not sure how many this affects, but want to share that I received confirmation from DCL that the queen beds on the Fantasy are identical to the ones on the Dream and NONE will separate into 2 twins.

I guess I was one of the hold-outs who were hoping there may be some concessions for those of us who like to travel with friends in "equal" beds.

The rep on board the Wonder said she's been getting a lot of bewildered customers. Oh well....Magic is my fave anyway!!

I was going to book 2 cabins until they told me about the no twins on Dream.

No point if one of the kids get stuck on the bunks anyway.

Cost them some money.

Just reenforces the belief that not enough folks have the beds split on the Magic and Wonder to justify putting them on the new ships. Now, if they get enough complaints once the Dream actually starts sailing, there is still plenty of time to change.

Okay some of you are going to think this is really funny. I've been on 4 Disney cruises and not once did I know that the bed could convert into 2 twin beds. All those times I made my daughter sleep on the couch one. LOL Though on her 18th birthday I did offer to let her sleep in the bed. She could have always slept in the bed with me but she says that I kick her when I sleep. LOL

If this applies to all categories, then I am going to have rethink cruising on these ships! We have two daughters who prefer sleeping apart. Now we'll have to use the sofa bed for one of them. DCL always has been a bit strange on this issue. I had one cabin steward all but refuse to separate the beds when we asked him to do so. DCL does not make it easy to separate the beds on the Wonder and the Magic, but they do separate. This is a serious bummer, and I would have to say very bad planning. What about a parent and children cruising together? Very silly and bizarre decision I would say.

Not really...they'll likely sell your extra room to someone who will pack 3 or 4 people in there instead of 2.

I suspect yes. However, I also suspect that far far far more people complained about the ridge in the middle of the splitable beds when they are made up as a queen.
Disney apparently DID pay attention to customers wishes because the beds on the new ships are higher to allow easier storage of luggage. I suspect they are doing the same with eliminating the splitable beds. This was not an arbitrary decision.

On our last cruise, our stateroom steward looked horrified that we seperated the beds on our own.....

For what it is worth, I never have had any of these issues on HAL, Carnival, RCCL or NCL. NCL and HAL, for instance, allow for advance identification of how the rooms should be laid out so that the cabin stewards have the beds ready just as the guests want them they arrive.

We're booked our first DCL trip as well and we'll be sailing next week. We have a family of 4 as well (5 and 3 yr olds) and we were able to book any room except the lowest category, I believe they are for a max of 3 people. We are in an inside deluxe room, with a queen for the DW and I and the sofa bed for DD and the pull out bunk bed for my DS. Sounds like 4 shouldn't be a problem at all. It's come next year when DS/DD #3 comes along and we have to start fitting in 5!!!

I just want to make sure I am not getting clausterphobic (sp) in some mini room with the whole family! Haha...I need a big enough room for some breathing space...I mentioned to my DD15 that she might have to sleep on a pull out couch or something, and she gave me her annoyed look......oh brother! SO, I am trying to get a room that EVERYONE can have a "bed" Is there such a thing (in one room) on DCL??

What about for us single parents? I am a platinum member, so have obviously cruised with Disney many times. Each time I have asked that the beds be separated with no problem since I travel with my two children and sometimes my Mum. My son is 6' 3"...he cannot fit on the sofa bed or pull-down. So the next time I travel with my daughter and son he will get the queen bed, my daughter a pull down and I have to sleep on the sofa. The sofas are incredibly uncomfortable and I am paying for the cruise! Why should I have to sleep on the sofa when it would have been easier to separate the bed.

I know I'm venting...sorry...but I seems they could have at least had a few cabins that had two beds. Maybe Disney will listen and add a couple of twins for us well-traveled single parents.

My sentiments exactly! We normally get connecting staterooms for our large family, but the kids like their own beds, not sharing with a sibling. It creates less conflict.

People need to keep mentioning it on the comment cards once the Dream starts
sailing, I am sure DCL hopes it will not be an issue and people just make do!
