Basking in the Glow of the (not so) Creepy Clown -2/11-Pictures, Final Thoughts, PTR!

I caught up on your last two updates. Henry is such an adorable boy. He seems like he is always so happy:)

Beaches and Cream is on my list for our March trip. I haven't figured out where to squeeze it in, but it is a goal. May just be for dessert, but from all I have read, I won't be disappointed. Do you know how close the Boardwalk is to POR?

While I am sure you love spending time with your two boys at Disney, I'm also sure that you enjoyed walking around a little bit by yourself. It's nice to spend a little alone time on vacation.

I loved everything you took pictures of in the gift shop but I think my favorite is the pink and green Minnie purse. Wonder if they'll still have that around next May? Adding that to my "gotta have" list.

As I said before, your Boardwalk pictures are absolutely beautiful and Henry is the cutest little thing ever.

Exactly - I love being with the boys, but man, that little bit alone sure felt GOOD. Especially shopping where I didn't have a half bored husband (well, he likes shopping IF he is looking for something/needs something, otherwise not so much) and a toddler who wants everything!

I'm thinking those purses will be around for quite a while. I don't think I had ever seen the pink/green Minnie, so it might be new.

Thank you on the pictures and Henry compliments! :goodvibes The BW is such a wonderful place to take pictures of - everything is beautiful!

what a lovely afternoon/evening.. the Boardwalk area is so picturesque, great photos! :goodvibes

Think I 'need' one of those D&B purses too :rolleyes1 !

Emma princess: x

It really was a great way to spend an evening - relaxing and enjoying the area!!

I might allow myself to buy a nice purse in a few years - right now the stroller is my purse though. If/when I do buy a nice one, I'm thinkin' it just might be a Disney one!

LOL at the video of everyone singing to Henry. I wonder if they will do that to me if we go there...

I really hope you made rope drop or I am going to be very disappointed.

If they do, I hope it's better sounding than that! :lmao:

:rolleyes1 about RD! (I do hope to get an update on today though, so you'll soon know!)

What a great and relaxing afternoon/evening! I really wish I could do that, but I am afraid that I am not made for that kind of vacation. I think for me it also has to with the fact, that I am never should when I will be back again. It is so far and if the exchange rate goes all crazy it might just become way too expensive...

What a fun picture of the two boys! :rotfl:

If it weren't for Joe and Henry I would be on the go the entire time, hitting all the parks hard - sun up to sun down! They make me slow down - and it's good. I do like it.

But just once, I gotta go solo and run hard in the parks! I want to!! Really, when our trips line up next time we gotta meet up for a day and do the Ultimate in MK!

Your evening sounds like the perfect way to spend a night at Disney. I love the go with the flow attitude, it really is the way to go at Disney!

It was a great night!! And gotta have that go with the flow attitude with a toddler, they always seem to have their own agenda! ;)

Your pictures around the BW and BC are beautiful! :thumbsup2 They so make me want to go back!

Those onion rings look so good! We love Beaches and Cream yet we didn't even make it there on our trip :confused3

I hope you all make it to rope drop! MK rope drop is among my very favorite things in WDW :goodvibes

They make me want to go back RIGHT NOW too! :cloud9:

The onion rings from Beaches & Cream are so delish. They are crispy, but not fried too hard. Yum!

We'll see about RD...:rolleyes1 I hope to get an update in today!

Sorry you are feeling  I hope you feel better soon! Great update. Love all the shopping pics. I bought that CD on our trip. Yay for popcorn:: No dessert at Beaches and Cream-there muxst be a law against that. How cute that they dimmed the lights and sang. Sounds like a great relaxing aft/eve.

Thank you Mary! I am feeling better today. Tuesday was rough, yesterday was a bit better, and today is WAY better. Hopefully the crud will be gone tomorrow.

I couldn't believe that we both vetoed dessert. Joe isn't big on ice cream desserts - he'd rather have a baked good - so if he had wanted something, I would have split it and stuffed it in! We are doing The Plaza in March and I WILL be getting dessert!!!!

Oh that sounds like a wonderful evening! Glad you got some solo time. I would LOVE to stay at an Epcot resort, not just for the proximity of the most awesome theme park ever (!!) but because it seems so nice to be able to walk around the lake, through the other resorts.

DH and I ate at Beaches and Cream on our honeymoon and we purposely split a hamburger so we could share a No Way Jose!

Oh Nicki, you GOTTA try the BW or BC! They are both so wonderful and you could be in Epcot in MINUTES. You guys would just love it! The lake is a definite bonus.

I have yet to try the No Way Jose, everyone raves about it - someday it will be mine!

What beautiful pictures of the boardwalk. What a fun dinner. the video was too cute!

Wasn't the singing just hilarious? I love the CM's look in there, like "Oh my word, this is BAD!" :lmao:

Love the update!
All your pics of BW and all are so pretty!! :)

Sounds like you had a great time shopping/exploring solo!

Hope ya'll made it to RD...as we never did on our trip! :(

We have never, ever, ever once made a RD, so making one, or at least attempting to, was a HUGE deal....we've always been just a few minutes late. I was determined!

But----did we make it??? :rolleyes1

Beaches n Cream! Thank you for reminding me that I will absolutely have to eat there in May. I have always wanted to. Henry is so cute in the video. I guess he forgot it was still his birthday (or close enough). OMG - that was the most our of tune Happy B-day ever, but it was still so darn cool. Lovely, lovely evening with the boys (and a little solo time). Great update!

Your welcome!! It's a GREAT little place! The burgers are fantastic and so are the desserts. Last time we shared a banana split. YUM!

Isn't that the worst singing ever?!?!? :rotfl2: I'm so not a music person and even I knew that was bad! Good thing Henry couldn't care less, he was thrilled!

Loved seeing the pictures of the BW. I can't wait to be there in 7 days!! We didn't ask for a certain room so I guess we'll take the luck of the draw. We do have a preferred view- I think that's of the pool?

Henry's happy birthday was awesome! He is such a cutie! I bet that made his day.

I love grabbing some solo time in the middle of a family vacation. It's so great to enjoy some solitude and just be!

We didn't ask for a certain room either - total luck of the draw. We were also preferred view, so maybe you'll end up with something great! I asked Joe if he wanted to do the same room for March and he looked at me like I had two heads. He loved everything about it, but wants a whole new experience. So, we'll be doing the luck of the draw next time too!

I think I just might take a few hours in March to go solo. Maybe even hit a park....:scratchin Or over to the Poly for a cup of coffee and just lounge around in a chair and read a book. Seriously...:cloud9:

I'm all caught up!

What a fun fun day. AK is a little brutal at times. SO much to do but the heat will just....wipe you out and you have to cry "uncle". I'm glad Nemo was a good respite and chilly treats, even better!

I remember your "do I dine solo" posts, how fun to see it now in the TR! I absolutely love the "train tracks" that is so stinkin' cute!

I'm so glad I FB on trips now - it makes the TR so much easier!

Hope ya made rope drop.

We'll see......! :rolleyes1

Oh, my. A rope drop ultimatum. I wonder how many of those have been issued in DIS history. :rolleyes1 ;)

I loved this update. What a fun, relaxing evening. Hurrah for having some solo time and for checking off a "never done" item from your list.

Thank you for pictures of the Beach Club. I can hardly believe that I will be there in 9 days!!

A 5 min wait at Beaches n Cream is unheard of... it was meant to be! Perhaps not the most melodic rendition of happy birthday but still very , very cool! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to see what happens next! popcorn::

:rotfl2: I bet PLENTY of RD Ultimatums have been made!! I plan to be giving another one (or two) in March as well.

I have interior shots for you!!! You asked about the lobby - I haven't ever stayed there, and haven't been in there much so I haven't a clue if it was redone or not, but here they are (I took them later in the week):

I love those little alcove areas with the couches

In case we don't connect again before your trip, ENJOY!!! Have a magical vacation!!!

Another great update, as usual Brook!

So glad that you got to try some WDW popcorn.

I've never been to Beaches and Cream, but if those onion rings are as good as the ones at 50's Prime Time and Sci Fi (which I suspect they are), I know you're right.

I'd say if Joe knows what's good for him you all made it to rope drop.

I've had the onion rings at Sci Fi, and yes, they are just as good! Very yummy. The burgers too - delicious!!

:lmao:about Joe!!

Aahh Beaches & Cream!! Seeing your view while waiting to get in makes me miss it so!! No dessert:eek: I did not eat all my meal there because I HAD to have ice cream:laughing:

Aw the singing to Henry was very cute. Nice that you got it on film. Sounds like you had a wonderful evening.

Love all the shopping pics. I have the ice cube tray, the green shirt, the cd:rolleyes1. I think I spend a little too much when I am there. I do enjoy all of the items I buy though. I love the shirt because it is not obvious Disney and I can wear it to work:thumbsup2.

Loved the update & I hope you get to feeling better!!

I know, I know! I can't believe we didn't have dessert! I mentioned it in a reply above, but if Joe had wanted to split something I would have stuffed it in! Next time. Or maybe we'll just go for ice cream next time!

The only reason I got it on film was because the CM came out to the table with the balloon and Henry and Joe weren't there! I forgot to mention that! They had gone outside because Henry was getting a bit restless. So I called them back in, they waited a minute and then surprised him! It was very cute.

I love some of the new Disney clothing merchandise where it's Mickey, but not OBVIOUSLY Mickey and a bit more dressy looking. Despite every gift shop now being the same stuff over and over (with a few exceptions) I do seem to like the choices better. That ice cube tray will be mine in March!

G'Mornin Brook!!

I loved B&C! We had a wonderful lunch there, but the best part was getting there! What a pool!! :thumbsup2

Great update, Brook.

Those onion rings look really good at Beaches & Cream (we have never been there).

I love your leisurely evening. And I love Henry just watching the boats and playing that he is Buzz. He just radiates fun!

The onion rings are delish from Beaches & Cream! It's a great little shop if you can ever get over there on one of your trips. Yummy burgers and amazing ice cream desserts - kinda like the Plaza, except their fries are the boring ones, onion rings are a better choice here!

Henry would get so, so excited when we'd see boats go under the bridge. He's mostly outgrown the Disney ducks (mostly), but the boats and the MONORAIL! Now we are talkin'! ;)

Nice shopping pictures. :thumbsup2

I think we might be heading over to the Boardwalk on Sunday night of our trip. Jill loves the atmosphere of the Boardwalk at night, and Brooklynn is old enough now to enjoy watching some of the entertainment. I could probably get suckered into her playing a game or two, too, or maybe I can talk her Bubby into footing the bill for a few carnival games. ;) Your pictures make it so very easy to just be there walking along there right now.

If I read right, that sign said people eat 80 hot dogs a year. I am pretty sure I am well below that average. Like waaay below. I might eat a hot dog at camp, maybe at a grill-out or campfire a couple of times a year, and possibly two other random chili dogs sometime during the fall and winter. I think I'm a 5-dogger instead of an 80-dogger.

I thought you might enjoy those pictures! I did it MeMom style too. Took pictures of almost everything I wanted, but left with nothing (for me)! Saved me a bundle.

You guys will have a ball over there on the BW. The entertainment is a lot of fun, we didn't ever stop to watch a whole show, but did watch a few minutes of some on a few occasions. The pizza window is a nice place to grab a slice, and sit and enjoy the atmosphere. If you guys do mugs, the mugs can be refilled at the pizza window too.

I didn't even read that hot dog sign! Good eye! And yep, you are right 80 hot dogs a year! I'm more of a 5 dogger as well. :rotfl2:

Not that this will surprise you, but I actually bought those glow cubes last time to supplement my very sad couple of drink cubes I got on vacation. ;) For some reason the ones that come with the drinks work better.

I love that ice cube tray - do you want me to pick one up for you? We have a couple of them and I always try and remember to make ice cubes in those whenever we have a party. Then I mix them in with the regular ones. It's always funny to see people's reactions.

That is very interesting about the glow cubes! You'd think they would work just the same. Odd. But nope, not surprised a bit. :rotfl:

You are so nice to offer to pick one of those ice cube trays for me! But, I can wait until March - but can you check the price for me? I didn't jot it down, I try to work a souvie budget....try! ;) I love your idea of mixing them with the regular cubes! :thumbsup2

I totally agree that the Boardwalk gift store was really nice, we got some silly bands there...the small one with the DVC, not so great though.

WHere are the people at BC pool... such a great pool. We did not eat at Beaches and Cream, however the hamburgers at Hurricane Hanna's were yummy too!

Great night, great fun!

Hope you made RD!

We spent a bit of time in the small DVC one, but you are right, there isn't a whole lot there. Henry spied some buses he wanted the very first night, and continued to ask for them every single day and in every gift shop we went into!

I didn't even think about the fact that there are no people in the pool! It was a LOVELY evening too. Maybe they just weren't in that area??? :confused3 I've heard Hurricane Hannah's is yummy, we gotta try it there yet - perhaps in March!

Awww...I love the picture of you and Henry at Beaches and Cream!! Henry is just adorable!!!! Him licking the ice cream cone...that is just priceless!!

Glad you were able to enjoy some solo time just you!!! Sometimes you just need those moments to just be there and let the experience wash over you!

I'm so looking forward to staying at BWV, thank you so much for all the wonderful pictures!

Your welcome! I hope you guys love the BW! I just loved everything about it. :lovestruc

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh why oh why did I read this update before eating dinner?!

That burger with those onion rings are kicking my sweet little bowl of soups butt!

:lmao:

I have got to make it over there, either at Christmas or with Mr. I in January.

And we'll split a burger if we have to, to make sure we have room for the No Way Jose!!!!!

Glad you got to try your popcorn! I've never had it either. Not a huge popcorn fan. I guess if it's really that much better at Disney, maybe I need to add that to my list of must do's too!

So cute about Henry driving the train and then the car as the surfaces changed on the Boardwalk!

Glad you guys got some swimming time in. That's one thing I'm actually gonna miss in Dec/Jan which surprises me! But we really enjoyed our evening swims!!

Can't wait to hear about rope drop! LOVE that you gave Joe the ultimatum. HAHAHAH! Love it. I think I pretty much told Mr. I the same thing in August.

:lmao:

Great update, Brook!! As usual!! I'm getting so excited for our BW stay with all your lovely pictures! :goodvibes

Have you ever done Beaches & Cream? It's YUMMY! The onion rings are delish, and the ice cream treats are awesome! I have yet to try the No Way Jose, but I plan to!

The Disney popcorn is just perfectly buttery and salty. It's not soaking in butter, like movie theater kind, but it's crisp. It's just right! But, if you aren't a popcorn fan, you might not care for it all that much. But the boys will probably eat it.

I hope you get a freak warm streak in Dec/Jan so you can swim! If anything, you can still enjoy the hot tub though!

What an awesome day! I am hoping to make it to Beaches and Cream for the Kitchen sink. That will be our lunch one day. The kids will go crazy when they are allowed to have ice cream FOR lunch. Its just too cute to pass up. I think the burger and onion rings look so good though too!

Anxious to hear if Joe makes RD!!! :lmao:

That is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love, love, love that! I plan to do the same (if the parents will allow) when we have some friends come with us on a future trip. Totally surprise them with an ice cream meal! Your kiddos are gonna love it! I look forward to reading all about that in your TR!

Hi Brook! Once again I am way behind...

Looks like Henry had so much fun at the Boneyard! Sorry you missed Flights of Wonder but I'm sure you will be able to catch it sometime in March. I love this show since I really love birds and have one for a pet too! So I always try and see this when I'm at AK.

Dinner at Beaches and Cream looked great. And I love all the pictures of the Boardwalk and Beach Club area! I will be enjoying all of that myself in less than 24 hours! I leave in the morning! So I'm sure I will have lots to catch up on when I get back :goodvibes

Hope you're feeling better soon!

You are on your trip now!!! I hope you are having a FANTASTIC time! Enjoy the BW/BC area, it's wonderful!!!

We better make it to FoW in March! I'm determined! I look forward to it, it sounds like a fantastic show.

Hey Brook...great update. I love all the pictures of your resort. I really want to check out the Boardwalk area on our next trip. It looks so nice and it seems like there is lots to do. It looks so peaceful:cloud9: I really want to try Beaches and Cream too! Henry looked so cute in that video. He was enjoying that so much:)

I love you gift shop pics and saw lots that I have myself. I really want that tea kettle, though. My kitchen is done in Mickey parts and I dont have this one...I do have the cookie jar that is sitting right next to it though:thumbsup2 (I bought it back in 2003 when we stayed at the CR:cool1:)

1006196814_UC44s-M.jpg

I have these:banana:

1006198492_AzLc3-M.jpg

I bought this on our last trip====LOVE IT!!:cool1:

1006200139_FyYMx-M.jpg

My daughter20, Kayla, bought the D & B purse (the one hanging from the middle shelf) on our last trip. I just about died at the price, but she never buys herself much and it was her money--still, YIKES!! She gets compliments on it everytime she carries it.

1006205987_tHX3G-M.jpg

.

That Mickey tea kettle will look great in your Mickey kitchen! It's really adorable. I might have to buy it myself - we don't have Mickey anything decoration wise, unless you count magnets. That would be a nice touch in our very white and plain kitchen.

Those DB purses really are very cute! The price is NUTS, but it better last for years and years!

Loved the BC pictures!!! Can't wait, I'll be there in a month!!! :)

I also saw a few thing :) in your shopping pictures. I love that large popcorn bucket; that might have to come home with me! :)

Have you done the BC before? I can't remember? It's such a pretty resort! We look forward to trying it in the future!

The Popcorn bucket would be very nice to have - not only for popcorn, but it could hold all sorts of stuff!

Loved your shopping trip! I loved the BW gift shop - I tend to forget to go completely into the next room and miss so much stuff. The singing celebration for Henry was probably the poorest I've ever heard!! Wonder why everyone was dragging out the song :confused3 At least he was too young to understand and was content with his balloon!

When I first walked in I didn't see the other rooms either - but then I remember looking up and seeing it ALL. I am pretty sure I said "Oh wow!" out loud.

Wasn't the singing horrible?!?! I have no idea why it was so bad, maybe a few teenage boys were singing extra loud and doing it on purpose?!?! :lmao:

Great pictures!!!!

How nice of you to get a little 'alone' time on vaca!

That gift shop was like a regular Disney Store!

I need to get to Beaches & Cream... ugh.. one of these days.:rolleyes1

Liked the radar pic!!!! I can see where I live!!!!! :lmao:

Hummmm... I'm thinking you made RD... I think? :confused3

The gift shop really was like a regular Disney Store! It was bigger than some!

Beaches & Cream is just another perfect reason for ANOTHER trip. ::yes::

We'll see about RD....! :rolleyes1

Just found your TR, so I'm going back to get all caught up! All I have to say now is I'm already loving it! Henry is adorable! Brings back memories of my July trip with my little man!

::welcome:: Thank you for joining up! I just opened your TR and oh my word - that pic of your DS on the first page in his swim gear, TOO CUTE! I look forward to reading it all!

I was so excited today when I saw the large envelope at the post office! It was your package and I was so surprised by your generous gift!! :cool1:

DSC08209.jpg

As you can see, they survived the trip across the Atlantic very well! I called Katharina when I opened the package and she claimed that she had a slight suspicion that it was going to be just those. From both of us a very huge THANK YOU!!:banana::banana:

We will keep them unopened until we see each other next time and then share them sisterly between the two of us! :goodvibes

I figured you guys might have figured it out! I'm so glad they arrived safe and sound. You have much more willpower than I would, waiting until you see Katharina again! I would have to eat just one - then save the rest. :rotfl:

You are very welcome!!! Enjoy!!

I'm jealous!!! Mmmmmmm!

(By the way, on my thread, I'm not going to comment on your Judy count yet (although I believe you're correct) to let everyone go nuts looking for her in that crowd!)

They are so tasty, aren't they? We bought a box for ourselves too!

I think Magdalene is right on the Judy Count as well. I gotta get back over to your TR and see if you have made an official call.

I was afraid that Brook's other readers might react like you.... I am really looking forward to share them with Katharina :cool1: - possible not until end of November!! :sad2:

I hope you will require people who claim to have seen her in that crowd to show everyone where she is! ;)

The end of November! Man, you've got willpower!

Brook, it was so sweet of you to send us these!!! Thank you so much, I will think of you and your family when I relish them!

Well, I think we might find a way how you can help us moving to the new appartment and these will be just the perfect thing to enjoy after some painting or cleaning or emptying boxes ;)

Your welcome!! I was excited to buy them and send them on - as soon as Magdalene told the story about them on my PTR I knew I had to get them for you two since it will be a while before you are back in the World! Do you think they sell them at DLP too? :scratchin

I like your idea of a moving treat! :lmao: Glenn can fly over to assist!

It sounds like you had lovely evening!!

I love, love, love all your pictures! So many cute things in the gift shop, beautiful views of BW and BC, yummy dinner and Henry jumping in the bed! :thumbsup2

Woo hoo for finally getting some WDW popcorn!

I'm glad Earl wasn't bad and I'm really bad that it didn't affect your trip!

Can't wait to hear about your morning! Hope you made it to rope drop!

We really did have a great evening!! We got our first taste of the awesome pool and just enjoyed being there. Later in the week we go swimming again and I brought the camera!

I love that area too - the BW/BC area is just so beautiful!!

I was so relieved about Earl. It worked out extra nice to have Joe there early too!

Ah, you are talking about me! I thought you meant that Brook's other readers could come and help you moving in Berlin and then you would share the candy with them... :rolleyes1

:rotfl: I did too!!!!!!! I was picturing Glenn on his way to get a Mickey head!!

Ooh, loving the shopping! I especially like those scarfs and the Dooney & Burkes....I'll never get one now. Madelyn will probably get one before I do, at 3 1/2 months she's got her daddy wrapped.

Down time for Brook and finally, Disney Popcorn! I really don't know why the popcorn is so good, it just is. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that you are there.....:rolleyes1 Popcorn and Beaches and Cream!! Hurray for yummie food overload! Congrats to Henry for a birthday surprise, even if it was a bad rendition (I need to check it out when I get home, no You Tube at work).

Um, I am very thankful that you've spared people such as myself the horror of the clown (for now). Ever since I saw Poltergeist as a child, clowns and I just don't get along. I don't even care if it's in the happiest place on earth.:sad2:

Here's hoping Joe doesn't get left in your pixie dust my dear!

P.S. Are you not feeling well? I read a couple of posts asking if you were okay. I hope you feel better very very soon!

:rotfl: about Madelyn! I can just picture her as a toddler with one of the wristlets!

I love all the scarves they have now! There are lots of choices, and they are all so pretty!

The popcorn is REALLY stinkin' good. It's done just right - enough salt, enough butter, crisp and not soggy. Yum! I could go for some right now!

Oh man! I've never seen Poltergeist, so I had no idea there was a clown in there! Creeeeeeeeeeeeeepy. Does he look anything like the one at the BW?!?! :scared1: I hope not. I'll warn everyone when I do post pictures so you can scroll quickly!

I have been sick the past few days. A big nasty ear ache - thankfully it has gotten better over time. Tuesday was awful, I laid in bed all day. Yesterday was a bit better, and today is much, much better.

I'll be there! :) :) yayyyyy! :)

:dance3::dance3: There are quite a few DISers going! We'll probably end up doing a big 'ol meet, so stay tuned...as the dates get closer we'll work something out between us all!

UGH! You now reminded me that I wanted to try and fit Beachs and Cream in this next trip. What time of day did you go? I might have to do it for a snack one day. I'm not sure I want to actually eat food there. LOL! But I do want to go and try the noway Jose!

I think a snack of ice cream would be a GREAT idea. They ask if you are there to eat, or just for ice cream. If it's just ice cream you might get seated at the bar - which is kinda fun!

We went around 6:30, I was surprised it wasn't busy!

Great shopping pictures and Boardwalk pictures! I think I fall in love a little bit more with the Boardwalk every time I see new pictures! :goodvibes

Henry snagging your popcorn, licking the Beaches and Cream sign, sitting at the bar, pretending to be a train in his stroller, and flying like Buzz is just adorable!

How cool that they sang Happy Birthday to him and gave him a balloon!

Oh, I hope Joe is up and ready for rope drop!

He was just thrilled with being sung to and the balloon! We tied the balloon to the stroller for the next day at MK, but the heat made it quickly deflate, so it only lasted that day...which was fine because Henry always wanted to hold it anyway!

We will see about RD....:rolleyes1

Hi Brooke - I'm late to the party! I'm catching up - just had to comment that the picture of Henry and Goofy looking at each other is priceless!! :cloud9:

:weclome: Glad you are here!!! And your ticker is looking VERY pretty!

OMG - 15 days?????????!!!!!!! :faint:
I love it!! :woohoo:
BTW - Happy Belated Birthday to Henry! party:

I can't believe it myself....! I'm getting more and more excited about it - already working and re-working the plans. It will be our only trip in 2011 (most likely), so we gotta make it BIG! :dance3:

What a lovely day! Your pictures of the Boardwalk area are making me miss it so much...this next trip will be the first trip in a decade that I'm not staying, for at least part of the time, in an Epcot resort. Not sure how I feel about that! :rolleyes1

Oooh man...! This was our FIRST time in an Epcot resort and we just LOVED it. I can see why you always stay over there! But, even so, I'm sure you will have a wonderful trip - the resort is only part of the magic and each resort really does have it's own perks. I'm not subscribed on your PTR - so I haven't a clue where you ARE staying. I'll have to fix that right now. :goodvibes

Thank you! It's funny that you write "He seems like he is always so happy" and I read it just now because he's in his room bawling!! He went down for nap 1.5 hours ago and still isn't asleep! :headache: He has been playing in his bed, but he NEEDS sleep, he's a total crab butt today :rolleyes1 so I told him to "Stop playing and go to sleep!" and the tears started....

Now he's quiet.

Maybe he'll sleep.....please, oh please. He really needs it....!

Anyway! :goodvibes

I haven't a clue how close the BW is to POR - but I think it's a pretty good distance. POR is by DTD, right? We took the bus once to DTD and it took quite a while. I would recommend a dip into B&C when you are in Epcot or DHS and want a quick break from the park. It's a very simple walk or boat ride.:thumbsup2

I'm thinking those purses will be around for quite a while. I don't think I had ever seen the pink/green Minnie, so it might be new.

Yes, I think a lot of your pictures were of new merchandise! I totally forgot to comment on it, but when I read your update I was pleasantly surprised that there were actually quite a few new things to buy! :thumbsup2

But just once, I gotta go solo and run hard in the parks! I want to!! Really, when our trips line up next time we gotta meet up for a day and do the Ultimate in MK!

Of course! That's already agreed on isn't it? :goodvibes Actually, when you wrote about your March trip, I even did price out flights to Orlando for that time frame because I thought it would be fun to have a trip to WDW at the same time as you... :rolleyes1 I hope this confession does not make you think that I am a weired stalker!! :scared1: And of course I knew that March would not work for me this year...

How funny about Joe's reaction! And it would be even funnier if luck of the draw would give you the same room anyway! :lmao:

I think I just might take a few hours in March to go solo. Maybe even hit a park....:scratchin Or over to the Poly for a cup of coffee and just lounge around in a chair and read a book. Seriously...:cloud9:

I think in a two weeks trip some alone time would be possible! :thumbsup2 I really enjoy walking through the parks on my own. AK comes to my mind for you - go on a photo safari there. :goodvibes

I figured you guys might have figured it out! I'm so glad they arrived safe and sound. You have much more willpower than I would, waiting until you see Katharina again! I would have to eat just one - then save the rest. :rotfl:

The end of November! Man, you've got willpower!

We are afraid that they might go stale once the packet is open. And to be honest, I have more willpower to not open it at all then eat one and then not eat the rest! :rotfl: But I guess everyone has to find different battles with their own mind!

Your welcome!! I was excited to buy them and send them on - as soon as Magdalene told the story about them on my PTR I knew I had to get them for you two since it will be a while before you are back in the World! Do you think they sell them at DLP too? :scratchin

That was so sweet of you! And it will be indeed quite some time until we will return to WDW. I don't think DLP has them, there isn't very much Polynesian influence at DLP, the Adventureland there for example is more Arabic/African in nature. Also, DLP has very much its own merchandise. In 2007 I was at WDW in January, at DLP in October and then again in 2008 WDW in January. DLP had a lot of different stuff! That's actually one thing I am looking forward to! I hope it is still that way! :goodvibes

I like your idea of a moving treat! :lmao: Glenn can fly over to assist!

I guess it would be cheaper for him to fly to Orlando to buy some!

:rotfl: I did too!!!!!!! I was picturing Glenn on his way to get a Mickey head!!

He would be very welcome! Maybe he could bring his family as well, they all sound like really nice people! And Katharina and I would have our third DISmeet in Germany this year - the trip some DISers planned to come and visit me for the Octoberfest never really seemed to happen... :confused3:laughing:

Cheaper airfare, but more expensive with park passes and everything.

Careful -- you never know who might be a weird stalker.

Hey, you didn't put the others to work!

It doesn't look like it'll happen this year, but sometime I'll take you up on it.

We left off with a Rope Drop Ultimatum spoken. I was determined to make RD! As you may or may not know, this family has NEVER made any RD. We once had a Crystal Palace ADR before park opening (that we were late for), and we've made it about 10 minutes late several times, but never ever to actual RD. We've tried, oh how we've tried, but it just never happened.

Would it today?

I posted this picture on Facebook

The question was "Is this the time we are leaving the room, or the time we woke up?"

And the answer is....

Don't be mad at me Sarah....

Waking......WAIT NO!

LEAVING THE ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We left the room with plenty of time for the 9:00 am opening! Would the buses cooperate?

We got to the bus stop.

And waited.

And waited.

And waited.

Sigh.

Seriously, we are finally running on time - even EARLY - for a Rope Drop and the Disney buses were going to make me miss it???

Oh wait! Here comes one now, it's 8:10 am. Plenty of time still. :woohoo:

We stop at the Swan and the Dolphin.

We are on our way!

Soon we see this

And shortly after the MK music starts, we see the monorail come into sight, it's not even 8:30.

WE MADE IT!!!!!!!!!

1006742864_mbScR-M.jpg

I just love this area across from the bus stop at MK

As we made our way down to the gates, a monorail passed over head
1006863748_QLFEN-M.jpg

Henry shrieked! It was a train...but not a train! He asked what it was, and the monorail officially became one of his favorite things in all of Disney World. I was surprised he didn't remember it from past trips, being he remembered the giant sandbox....!

Through bag check and the gates we easily found a spot close to the center and waited.

MK is extra pretty in orange, yellow and brown!

Looking right

Looking left

A crowd, but it didn't seem all that bad.

Pretty soon this guy came out and greeted us, "Hello! Good morning!"

1007099208_STGFi-M.jpg

I really wanted to experience the show, since I had heard so much about it, so I didn't video, but did take a few pictures.

1006927528_PFTTz-M.jpg

I loved how almost everyone in the crowd waved! It was very festive!

Here comes the train! Henry was ECSTATIC!

1007413972_AQQ7a-M.jpg

And oh my goodness, WHO is on the train???? "It's Pluto Mommy!"

1006885692_JbRzi-M.jpg

1006989028_CgGcZ-M.jpg

Henry was also pretty psyched about seeing Chip & Dale and Mary Poppins.

The family of the day was introduced and Henry shouted out "Mickey!!!!!"

Streamers and pixie dust were thrown
1006754277_mgAEN-M.jpg

And they announced that the Magic Kingdom was now open! :yay:

So....what did I think???

Honestly, my first reaction was, "That's it?"

:duck:

I sure liked being there early after we got into the park, but I didn't understand the hype of the welcome show. It was all about 2 minutes long, characters on a train and streamers. Sure it was cute, but rushing to make sure we got here, etc? It just didn't seem worth it to me.

Hmmmm.

I shrugged it off, we did it, we are here, let's go!

And go we did - but before we continue on....after we got home I watched a video someone took of the morning show and there was a song - and the Main Street citizens danced.

We did not get that.

Ours was VERY short, no music, no dancing. No wonder it didn't seem worth it!

:sad2:

So, I still have yet to see the actual opening show at MK. Figures, doesn't it???

In March, another MK RD Ultimatum will be given! Good thing we'll be at BLT!

I was really pleased with all the new merchandise too! Everything is the same in all the shops, but the selection is more appealing I think. It will be a ton of fun to shop at DLP! Be sure to take lots of shopping pics for all of us here!!

No worries on me thinking you are a weird stalker! :rotfl: I wish the March trip would work out! But, if you do go in November, I could always price out me coming down for a quick weekend trip. Depends on the money situation of course - and Joe's willingness! Wouldn't that be a blast though?

Oh man, it would be HILARIOUS if we ended up with the same room or close to!! What are the odds?! But I know it happens!

Good point on them becoming stale - that would be a tragedy! I just won't tell you they are individually wrapped...:rolleyes1 But you are right, once you start, they disappear quite quickly. Ours did! I watch a little boy once a week and he and Henry split one of the last ones a few weeks ago - every single time he comes over he asks for a "Mickey treat".

Cheaper airfare, but more expensive with park passes and everything.

Careful -- you never know who might be a weird stalker.

Hey, you didn't put the others to work!

That is a good point - Germany would be cheaper than WDW! Crazy thought, but probably true!!

I also would LOVE to go visit! It would be very fun to arrange a DIS trip!

You got jipped!
I haven't seen the MK ropedrop either, but I have heard there is quite the show to go with it. I wonder why you didn't get it?

That's a shame you didn't get to see the Welcome Medley song & dance at MK!

One time we didn't see it.. but that was an extra magic hour morning, so that's why I thought it wasn't on... but last year, we went for EMH and did get the whole show :confused3 .. a Disney mystery! ;)

PopArtGal has a great video of the opening show on her youtube page :thumbsup2

It is VERY cute! The video I watched was awesome! I want to see it!

YEP! That's who's I watched! Thank you for reminding me! Christine got an awesome video of it, I was like  when I watched it! So cute and fun!

It's very odd that they don't do it sometimes and do other times. I hope it's not very often that they do the short version and we are able to catch it in March. It's much like the Great Movie Ride Cowboy versus Gangster! :rotfl:

Congrats on your first (sort of) rope drop!
Sorry you missed the song. I think it is on 4 parks 1 world CD. Do you have that?
We do RD because we are dumbo or die kinda people.

I'm here at last and just in time! We were there for rope drop at MK too that day and do you know what I was thinking the whole time? I wonder if Brook's made it and what she's thinking now :rotfl2:
We've done MK rope drop more than once (including later in this same trip) and couldn't understand what we saw. This was our first MK rope drop this trip (and our first day in from the UK so we were bound to be up very early, with a 5 hour time difference!!) and I was just sooo disappointed and confused  Every other time we've seen the full show, and that I like :thumbsup2
Going back in the TR a bit but glad to read about Planet Watch - we've been before, missed it this time, but thanks to your report it's on the must-do list again for the next trip, August 2011 :thumbsup2
