Brook, loving the TR!! I'm so sorry for your family, I'll be lifting them in prayer this week. I can't imagine how hard that would be to go through, we flooded a lot here too recently, but I praise God it didn't flood our house. They called it a 100 year flood, I had never seen it rain like it did here. It was crazy, it was the effects from Tropical storm Hermine for us.
Little man looks so happy in the "sand."
I wondered about the date you mentioned too, and all I could find according to the date and excavations are a A LOT of sites reporting on many, many dig sites at that time discovering a great many things including prehistoric sites. So that may be the only thing it has to do with, but then again it's Disney so you never know!
Even the dead sea scrolls were discovered then! Very fascinating information if you google the year and what signifigance did it have with excavations or archeological sites, you should get quiet a few links to look over.
Thank you so much for your prayers. I'm praying for you (and your son, and his GF) about the whole Texas deal too. I spoke to my Mom for almost an hour last night about the flood. I'd say 96% of the time I was crying. It's just devastating. You know, your flood story reminds me of several times in just recent years Joe or I have come THISCLOSE to something major - like a few weeks ago I was walking along our neighborhood, pushing Henry in his stroller-doing my thing. Suddenly I hear a CRASH and directly behind me a young man biking was hit by a car.
If I were 8 seconds later, it would have been Henry or I. Thankfully the young man was FINE. His bike was not. But let me tell you, I almost fell to my knees at that second giving praise to our Protector right in the middle of the sidewalk. I was shaking for hours. 100 year flood and you are removed from the affects of it? Um, ya. Divine.
Ooooh, that is interesting about the dig sites! I wonder if that is it. How cool!!
I didn't realize that about the Dead Sea Scrolls either. Wow! Joe and I visited Israel
back in 2006 and got to see where they were found, but all the dates/info blurs together. We have hours and hours of video footage of our tour guide though. We really should put that together and re-educate ourselves!
Looks like Henry had a blast playing the the boneyard. This is another thing my now 11 year old still likes to do. It's a wonderful place to burn off some energy.
He really did! I love that your 11 year old still enjoys it! I will miss when our trips start to shift away from simple things like the Boneyard.
I love your boneyard update. What a cool place! I can honestly say that I haven't spent much time in there. I went in there with LJ last summer and I don't remember seeing all that cool stuff in the dark. Great pictures.
I would have been cracking up behind those two boys on EE. What a hoot! I love that ride!
Those boys were so funny! They were young, but trying to be so tough. I kept quiet and just smiled. I almost said something, but refrained and let them have their macho time together. Then the picture.
I was so proud of my ride-mate! He was BRAVE! I wish I would have stuck around to hear what they said to each other at the picture center!
First off...I'm so sorry to hear about your family and friend's homes. I will be keeping them in my thoughts and prayers. So sad!
And as for the tr...nice update! We have avoided the boneyard because I did not want to deal with sand during the trip! Petty, I know! But maybe we'll check it out now! haha
I also took advantage of the single rider line for EE last year. My husband doesn't care to ride it so we don't have to worry about a child swap there. I probably waited about 15 mins on the single rider line as well.
Thank you for your prayers! They really are needed.
Oh, it's not petty, I understand!! Sand makes kids sooooo dirty and it gets EVERYWHERE. I would probably try to avoid it as well, unless it was a "right before we leave the park" sort of thing.
Okay, I am ALL caught up. Love the pics at Planet Watch and Henry with the goats (those goats must have a great temperament to have all of those people handling them all of the time). And the pictures of Henry in the boneyard are absolutely precious. We have never even stepped foot in Restaurantosaurs before...I think we'll have to take a look next trip.
I thought the same thing about those goats! They were just chill as all the kids "pet" and "brushed" them. Thankfully they do have the roped off area for them to escape to!
Restaurantosaurs is a fun place - lots of little details. The food is basic, but good.
Love that Henry remembered where to go. I love WDW and DH still knows it better direction wise and where things are. Does that sand material also not get hot like regular sand? That's a double bonus with the clean factor.
As I was reading this update, I suddenly thought how I probably need to pay closer attention for fun things for little kids to do, since I know I'll be taking my newest niece with me, probably sooner rather than later.
That is a very good question about the temp of the fake sand. It wasn't hot at ALL, and that might be due to it being shaded + fans, but I would assume it would even still be a bit hot....another awesome factor! Love it!!
You are going to love taking your niece! Have you guys ever taken a little one before? It's amazing to watch their eyes light up. Small World, characters (if they don't freak), play grounds. You are set!
What a fun time for Henry at The Boneyard! My girls have already told me they would like to spend more time there this year. It is a great place for them to blow off some steam, isn't it?
Yes! It's a great place for them to run, run, run! Or in Henry's case, dig, dig, dig! He did run some before we left too. I think, if we allowed him, we could end up for hours in there!
Hi Brook!
Finally all caught up. Seriously, is Henry just about the sweetest child on the planet or what?
Big Skittle hugs for you, your family and friends. What a horrible, horrible thing to be going through.
Hm.
How convenient.
Tinkerbellarella will be in the World for the Princess 1/2 Marathon 2/25-3/5.
TarzansKat too. AND MRYPPNS, I believe. Do I smell a DISMeet?
Hello Tink!!!!
I'm pretty fond of Henry. I tell him all the time if I had to pick out of all the little boys in the whole wide world, I would pick HIM! Now he tells me the same.
Except I'm not little.
Or a boy.
Thank you for the hugs. It's a very difficult time. I'm pretty much not letting myself dwell on it TOO much, I always end up crying, crying, crying. Crying for my cousin. Crying for my Grandma. Crying for the house. Blah. But, there is hope still. Everyone is trying to be in good spirits.
I think you do smell a DISMeet! They smell almost as good as Corn Dog Nuggets!
I have spoken to MRYPPNS briefly on a meet, I'm thinkin' we should find a time for all of us. We are pretty flexible this trip...so I can probably roll with anything.
Here I go again... thinking I posted but didn't. Maybe I just posted in my mind...
Henry was too cute in that 'sand' You gotta love how Disney thinks of everything and makes sand that... well... isn't sand!
How funny he was trying to push that truck out from being stuck.
Wonder why your DH didn't want to ride on EE.... Chicken?
No, Joe really likes coasters, but he was just tired and not wanting to be in the sun. One ride is generally enough for him too (whereas I could ride, ride, ride, ride!), so he figured he'd just do it later in the week during the PM EMH. We'll see how that turns out...
My kids and their cousins loved the sand pit at TRex! Definately take him. Just don't eat there unless it's just for dessert or something. It's a cool restaurant but we found the service extremely slow, the food not very good and it was very expensive. I would like to take boys back there just to play and see the gift shop next time. One thing we did not do was the gift shop! Good to know it's the same material at the Boneyard, we will hit that up next time
Thank you for the tips! The sand pit is outside the restaurant or where? I was thinking I could get a gift card from MyPoints for T-Rex so the meal would be cheaper, but after reviewing the menu it was just meh to me. And your review here just made me feel better about my decision! Henry loves the gift shops at Disney. He always wants to go in them. "Fun stuff in there!"
