Basking in the Glow of the (not so) Creepy Clown -2/11-Pictures, Final Thoughts, PTR!

Very early on when I mentioned my dates, Heidi (MRYPPNS), mentioned to me that the crowds would be drastically lower in early February. And a few others also brought it up when I announced my dates....

This made me yearn for earlier dates; however, due to a few factors of other travel and work schedules, it was just not to be. I wasn't too bummed, knowing we'd have enough days and some great DIS Meets!

However...
after some discussion and jugging - it turns out earlier March IS going to work quite nicely...even nicer than our previous dates!

So you wanna know our new dates?

March 5-12, Lagoon View at BLT!!

:yay::yay::yay:

I'm so looking forward to being on the monorail and taking advantage of the monorail eats. A Chef Mickey's breakfast will be done. ::yes:: I'm thinkin' a cup or 12 of Kona Coffee will be consumed by yours truly. :lovestruc Riding the monorail into Epcot to view those beautiful flowers with a cup of Kona in my hand...:cloud9:

Oh, but WAIT. I interrupt your day dreaming to let you know...

That's not all folks.

Flower & Garden Festival starts on March 2, it would be so nice to be close to Epcot, don't you think? Plus, we just enjoyed being in that area so much this past September. It was a lovely walk to Epcot and boat ride to DHS.

So why don't we just add on February 26-March 5 at BWV?!?!?

OKAY, LET'S JUST DO THAT!

:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

There you have it! We arrive on February 26 and depart on March 12.

15 days. Fifteen!

I think we are crazy.

And I love it!

Currently wiping the drool and envy off my chin! 15 days... at the BW and BLT none the less... so much fun! You have me really thinking we need to try the boardwalk, but I sure loved BCV!

OMG! 15 DAYS!!! NO WAY!!!!!!! Color me jealous! How exciting is that!? Our first trip with the kiddos in 05 was the end of Feb through the beginning of March! It was a great trip and the park of empty!

I'm soooooooooooo stinkin excited that our dates match now! WOOOOO HOOOOO!!!! WOOT WOOT! Yippeeee!!!!

FYI, I got a letter in the mail yesterday letting me know that the kiester coaster is closing for refurb mid Feb and should re-open mid March. I'm mulling over the options for March because I think DD would be disappointed that she couldn't go down the slide! Wouldn't it be funny if we ended up at the same resort? :rolleyes1

BTW, I'm so with you on the Kona Coffee thing! I'll be making monorail stops in a few weeks, I assure you ;)

15 days!!! I would have switched too!!! :yay:

About the weather though...
Last year we were mid March. I needed a sweatshirt and my toes froze at night in my flip flops. So I went to Japan and bought socks to wear with them. So watch the forecast!

I am so envious that Joe has that much vacation he can take at once! My DH has been with the same co. for like 8 years and still can only take one week at a time! This really sucks because we would love to take a long roadtrip someday. You guys are going to have so much fun!

I was wondering, do you get the dining plan when you go? Why, or why not. And do you feel like it saves or costs you more money. I can't decide for our trip. Just thought I'd ask a more seasoned wdw traveler....15 days...WHATEVER. Ok, jealosy over :flower3:

15 DAYS!!!!!!

I may just pass out:scared1: I would love to go for 15 days and at 2 BEAUTIFUL resorts no less:cloud9: Wow, you are a lucky duck!:donald:

Im so excited for you guys!!!!!

I sent you a pm a couple of days ago trying to figure out how to link my tr to my siggy. If you can tell me how to do it, I will try (or get my dh to try) to do it. THANKS :)

Whoo hoo! :cool1: BTW, What is your home resort? I don't think you're crazy for going for 15 days. That was my original dream vacation. Well, it got scaled back to 12, but even that was *plenty* of time to do everything we wanted to do within a budget. So much time to do so many cool things!

WOOT WOOT!!! 15 days is going to be AMAZING!! You guys are going to have a great trip and I so can't wait to read and see all of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

15 days?! Please excuse me while I wipe of my drool.
Too bad we miss each other by just one day. UGH!:guilty:

Color me green with envy! The good thing is, if we don't go in Dec, and decide to go in March, we will most likely be there for some of your dates!

Wow, that's going to be a great trip. Congrats! I'd go broke just on food alone after 15 days.

Currently wiping the drool and envy off my chin! 15 days... at the BW and BLT none the less... so much fun! You have me really thinking we need to try the boardwalk, but I sure loved BCV!

I hardly can believe we are doing it. We have joked about a 2 week trip, but never seriously. Until I started adding the points and looking at the rest of the years travel....and the rest is history!

We really want to try BCV, and I would have even this trip if it were cheaper in points. It will probably have to sit on the back burner for another couple years since this trip will make us point poor in 2012.

FIFTEEN days?!?!?

:tigger:

I think you are crazy lucky - that's what!!!
:dance3: :cheer2: :dance3:

Thanks MeMom! I feel blessed and extremely excited! Have you guys done 2 weeks before, I cannot recall.... or close to? I am majorly bummed we are going to miss each other by ONE day though. That was a huge factor about changing the dates and picking the new ones, but DVC just starts getting packed on the 13th. :sad2:

Fifteen days? Woo hoo!!! :woohoo: Yes, I think riding the monorail with a cup of Kona in your hand will be fabulous!

I can't even quite wrap my head around how fun it will be to be on the monorail - and the ease of it with a stroller. Let alone the excellent coffee so close. This is gonna be a fun trip to plan.

I love to hear about about March! The crowd levels and 1 and 2! I LOVE THAT. That is what we had in September too. How was the weather then? We froze when we went in January, so it better be warmer by late Feb/early March, but PopArtGirl has me worried about freezing in March!

I hadn't heard that about the slide, a bit of a bummer, but H is still too little to go down on his own, so it will just be Joe and I out of luck. I only hit it once this past trip and Joe did 2 or 3 times. I think we'll be alright, espeically since we have 7 following days at BLT.

And speaking of BLT, according to the CM on the phone there is "plenty of lagoon view left for your dates." :rolleyes1 Monorail. Top of the World Lounge. Walking to MK. Wishes.

Just sayin'.

I am SO EXCITED to meet you!!!!!!!!! We should do a Kona Coffee meet! :yay::yay::yay: (or if you do end up at BLT, we can meet WHEREVER! Top of the World?! Seriously, I'm starting to dance in my chair! :rotfl:)

WOW!! 15 days!! That is so awesome, you are going to have a fabulous trip!!!! :worship:

I'm getting more and more excited when I start planning and looking at pictures. I can't hardly believe we are doing it!

WOWZERS!!!!! That's awesome! So excited for you (and insanely jealous at the same time!)

Thank you!!! I can hardly wrap my head around it. And I DON'T want to think of that bill when we check out.

Wow! Fifteen Days!! That's fantastic!! We'll be there February 27th - March 6th.

:dance3: DIS MEET! DIS MEET!! I haven't a clue what our plans are yet/park days/ADRs etc, but we can PM back and forth and try to figure something out.

15 days!!! I would have switched too!!! :yay:

About the weather though...
Last year we were mid March. I needed a sweatshirt and my toes froze at night in my flip flops. So I went to Japan and bought socks to wear with them. So watch the forecast!

:rotfl: I LOVE that you bought toe socks! An excellent excuse to do so.

I don't mind a sweatshirt at night - as long as the majority of the day is nice. Even if it's jeans and a t-shirt, I'm good with that. I just don't want to repeat of January 2009 - 35 degree weather and news reports of all the oranges freezing in Florida...winter coats in the Magic Kingdom. Ugh.

Could you swim during the day still? Was it that cold every night?

I am so envious that Joe has that much vacation he can take at once! My DH has been with the same co. for like 8 years and still can only take one week at a time! This really sucks because we would love to take a long roadtrip someday. You guys are going to have so much fun!

Oh man! That stinks about only being able to take a week at a time! Joe has been with the same company for over 12 years - so that helps. Even the new company out here in NYC is owned by the same company (Thomson Reuters), so he kept all his benefits. Which was a huge relief to us!! They are really good about allowing people on his team to take time whenever. On my old team, when I worked for the same company, it was NOT like that, I probably would not have been allowed 2 weeks straight either.

The last time we got the Dining Plan was in November 2008 (we did do the Quick Service Dining Plan once in 2009 because we were staying at CSR and their food court is more expensive). We always spend LESS than what the dining plan would have cost us and like the fact that without it we can eat whatever and whenever we'd like. We never do a TS every single day - with a little one they just get frustrating, he gets antsy after a while - plus its even more money OOP for the tips. I often don't want a dessert with a CS meal, but maybe an ice cream later - so it goes to waste. I don't like keeping track of how many credits and all that either. It's just so much easier - and cheaper - for us to do OOP all the way. I usually make all our ADRs and take a guess as to what we will order and what CS we will eat at, and do the math. OOP always comes out on top. This past trip in September we saved over $100 versus the DDP - and really, its much more than that because we didn't have a TS every day with a required tip. And we just ate whatever/whenever we wanted - and I counted in things like the bag of jelly beans and bag of chips I NEEDED  from the gift shop and the giant box-o-Mickey coconut head patties we brought home. It always comes out cheaper for us.

HOWEVER, with all that said, when Henry is becoming a young boy/man we might end up back on the DDP because he'll probably be eating everything, so it might end up cheaper then. Often times he still eats off our plates now.

I hope that helps! Oh - we also order some snacks/breakfast items to the room, so we save some there too...plus it saves on time, we eat while we get ready for the parks. We only ate breakfast out once in September.

15 DAYS!!!!!!

I can't hardly believe it's truly booked and happening!! We've talked about doing a 2 week trip, but never have taken the plunge!

I got your PM, sorry I haven't replied - there are some other ones too I need to get on. I will help you! It's been a rough week, I'd be on the DIS for a few minutes and then my head would start throbbing. I laid in bed a whole lot! I'm feeling a bit better today though, so I do plan to get to those! I'm excited to read your TR...espeically already knowing your title! :hyper:

15 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are so lucky.

It's kinda crazy! I'm really looking forward to planning it!

Our home resort is AKV, which we have stayed in the regular hotel and Kidani this past NYE. It's a beautiful resort! We just love to try them all. After this trip we will still have BCV, OKW and VWL. I almost booked VWL this trip - it's cheaper than the BWV, BUT, being that close to Epcot and DHS just suckered me right in again.

And I miss it.

12 days is AWESOME. I so look forward to having plenty of time to do everything - just taking it sloooooooooooow and doing whatever. :cloud9:

WOOT WOOT!!! 15 days is going to be AMAZING!! You guys are going to have a great trip and I so can't wait to read and see all of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm stinkin' excited to just have TIME at Disney. I gave up worrying about what we might miss, but this trip even if we miss it on Day 1, we can go back on Day 10 and hit it! Love that.

15 days?! Please excuse me while I wipe of my drool.
Too bad we miss each other by just one day. UGH!:guilty:

I know! I'm so bummed!!!!! The meet with you and MeMom and crew were serious factors in switching our dates. I tried to make it work, but it just wasn't happening. DVC is BOOKED starting the 13th. :sad2:
