Just back from Caribbean Beach - 9/4

We just returned from a wonderful 8 day trip! Caribbean Beach Resort is absolutely beautiful ... so lush and tropical. The pool was amazing and my girls had a blast. I requested Martinique and got it - Bldg. 25. The room was on the second floor and was very nice. Beds were comfy and room was clean. Housekeeping wasn't great. Old Port Royale was so convenient and our building was very close so it was a short walk. The weather was HOT but we managed to survive by splitting up the days with a pool visit to cool off. Crowds were very low and most rides were walk-ons or little wait times. Wait times for the buses varied ... some days were quicker than others. If you have any questions, let me know! I would definitely stay there again ... it was a magical vacation. My good friend Tracy surprised me and was waiting at the Custom House when I arrived via Magical Express. Her husband and daugher accompanied her and we all had a great time together.

Q for you---did you pay extra for your room location ? We are staying there from nov 30- dec 4th. (POR from nov 26-nov 30th)

As of now we have standard room booked. But your building was in the preferred category and we know how big CBR is.

Yes, we paid extra for a preferred room. I think it was $20 extra. Totally worth it.

Thank you for sharing - we booked the CBR for next year - decided to try something different. We booked a pirate theme room. Any idea, how long of a walk that would be to the pool, main building, buses....I believe I read somewhere that all the pirate theme room are in a Trinidad south village

WE returned from CBR on Aug. 30. I am glad you had a good trip. Our trip and times at the parks were the same. But our experience at the resort was not. We did get our requested building which was Martinique 21 and that was the only positive. Upon check in we found our room was not real clean. The ceiling fan and vent fan were filthy, carpet dirty, tub area dirty, curtain between sleeping area and sink area was stained, and walls in need of work(chips and marks on them) Oh and there were dead bugs all over the window sill. We have stayed in several disney resorts and this was by far the worst one.
I agree the grounds are beautiful. We didn't have as good of luck with the buses though. Our wait times were no less than 30 min. to get to the parks and even higher to get from parks back to resort!

I agree that Mousekeeping was not very good. Sorry to hear that your room was so dirty. That's not acceptable. Did you let anyone know? I called housekeeping services a few times to get towels/washcloths because we didn't get any.

Yes, we had that problem too with the long wait times getting from the parks to the resort at the end of the day.

We will have a car. I think we might use it some if the bus service is that bad. Last time we were there in June 2006 we had bad bus luck too. I was hoping it would be better this time. We will try it out and switch to our car if need be.

That's a great idea ... at least you'll have the option to use the car if you find the bus service to be bad. I think it's a hit or miss kind of thing. Some days were better than others. The end of the day seemed to be the worst.

We just got back on 9/5 from a 9-night stay. We got the building we requested - Jamaica 45 (we requested 45 or 51 {Aruba}). Our room (4557) was a perfect location, right by the bridge and less than a 5 minute walk to OPR. It was also a second-floor corner room, so we had the extra window with a great view of the bay and Caribbean Cay (we did have a water-view reservation). I don't think I could have picked a better room if they let me choose. Mousekeeping could have been a little better, we also didn't get washcloths a couple of days but the room was generally clean. Also, our hair dryer could double as a flamethrower. Other than that we had no problems with the room.

While the pool was great, it was a little too crowded. They could certainly use more lounges/chairs. And 8pm is way too early to close the slides. I only used the quiet pool once and that was around 1am while waiting for some laundry to finish in the dryers (for those unfamilar...each "island's" laundry center is located next to the island's quiet pool) At $2 a cycle, the dryers could have worked better. I also napped in a hammock on the beach waiting on them.

As OP stated, wait times for just about everything were great. The only long wait we noticed was Toy Story Mania at HS. It was posted as 90 minutes (with all FP gone as well) by the time we got there around 11:30am. It then went down for the remainder of the day shortly after that, so we never even got in line. Apparently they are having lots of problems with the new software they installed when it was closed for a few weeks recently. Everything else at every park was pretty much 10 minutes or less.

Bus service was varied, okay most times, but really bad at park closings. Now I think I see why Pop Century is so popular. They had a bus pull up every few minutes - sometimes two at once. Meanwhile it was every 15 minutes or more for a CBR bus.

All in all, it was a fantastic vacation though. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at CBR again. I still haven't gotten the constant Jimmy Buffet songs out of my head.
