We are leaving next week on the 4 night Wonder cruise and not sure what to do in Nassau other than Atlantis, which we are not doing. Are there any free beaches to hang out at or do you have to pay for all the beaches? DS and nephew 10 and 13 traveling with us and both love the water. :confused3:

All opinions are welcome:goodvibes

We went to Cabbage Beach 2 years ago. It is free and is about a 1/4 mile down from Atlantis (away from ship) It will seem kinda sketchy when you first get there. There are lot of locals trying to rent you chairs and umbrellas, sell you necklaces, drinks and what not. The first 15 minutes is a little annoying, but after that they let you enjoy the beach.

It is a nice beach and the kids (3 and 5 at the time) had a great time playing in the waves. I like it because it is a nice break from the velvet rope world of Disney for a couple hours. The drink offers aren't bad either. They don't use top shelf rum, but you know you have been drinking after a couple and they serve them in coconuts!

We leave on the 4 night next Sunday. Our plan is to wander around the port area, maybe do a carriage ride, a little shopping at the straw market, etc. We will probably be back on the boat for 1. Afternoon swim and maybe a movie while youngest DD naps.

My DW brother and his family are planning on doing the dolphin excursion. I was hoping for sharks but no such luck :sad1::sad1:.

We did the sea lion at nassau. Not many people there. We did it on the 10th of august at 930 am and we really enjoyed it.:yay:

My plan is to do Blackbeard's Cay sting ray adventure. You are taken to a small island where you can go in the water to touch/feed sting rays & then spend the day on the beach (lunch included). This way we don't do anything on Nassau, but an still enjoy time at the beach.

We did the Blue Lagoon beach day earlier this month. We all loved it.

We wound up doing the Blue Lagoon Beach Day too! We had a really great time and the boys 10 & 13 had a ball on the inflatables they had out in the water!

I've done the Blue Lagoon beach day, which includes lunch, and it's really nice because you can also rent some things to go into the water. I've also done the Dolphin Encounter which also was fun. If you go to the straw market they seem to be a little pushy too me. I would try and avoid going down any of the alleys, unless you're with a guy, because they just seem really creepy to me.

I highly recommend Blackbeard's Cay excursion - we had a fabulous time and felt it was a good value for the money. Disney was the only ship in port in Nassau that day, so the excursion was not crowded at all!

We did this one also and had a wonderful time. The time we had with the stingsrays seems for ever. They do offer a lunch and the island is right next to one of the the Sandals resorts. By the time we where to leave for the boat trip back, the kids was sleeping under a tree. It is well worth the money andthe value for your dollar is good.

We just came back from the 4 nt cruise and walked to a public beach for a few hours (10am- 12pm or so)- Junkanoo Beach- clear water, restrooms and a little stand selling drinks. It was a decent beach for a short trip and some swimming. Went back and had lunch on the ship and then went back out and looked in a few shops. Back on the ship by 3pm or so.

Great to hear the good reviews! This is what I want us to do. My DS loves sting rays & it seemed perfect w/spending the day at the beach too.

This past cruise we stayed onboard while in Nassau-great day to enjoy the ship being less crowded. Previous cruises, we have done everything from walking through the streets and straw market, a trip to Atlantis on the Atlantis Tour excursion, and we have done the Caribbean Queen Snorkel-if you love to snorkel-we have done this one twice, and we will do again! You get a great tour of the area on boat as you go out to a coal reef. It is off the boat snorkeling, and it is so beautiful. Keep in mind, if you cruise during the winter months, the water temp can be chilly in the Bahamas.
