Thinking of switching from POP to ASMovies...

The only reason I booked POP over ASMovies for our May/June trip was the icee machine, but now after looking at the POP thread I see that they removed those machines! Now I'm thinking of trying to change to ASMovies resort b/c my kids like the statues at that resort better. What do you think? We've stayed at ASMovies twice before and POP once.

I say go where you want. If the ICEE machines were your main reason and the kids enjoy ASMo better....then I would go there.

I love POP but have always wanted to stay at Movies...just like the theming. So hard to choose just one resort....isn't it???

We have not stayed at POP.. we are diehard Movies people.. as a matter of fact we fell in love with WL last year and if someone dumped a bunch of money in our laps we would go there again, I do not see that happening! I just now told DH I would feel better going to ASM if we do a trip this spring to save money and we are all fine with it! I get curious about POP but my heart is true to ASM! Staff is great, nothing is a big walk (holy lord Music is a hike if you are in standard), theming is so much fun! I have seen better pools, but Sorcerer Mickey is fun to look at anyway.

The rooms in AS Movies haven't been refurbished since it opened in 1999, but by the time of your trip, all Pop rooms will be brand new. New beds and carpet, fresh paint, and flat screen TVs.

I think ASMo, AsMu, AlsSp, and POP all pretty much look identical. If anything, you might want to stay away from POP in case you end up in a building being renovated (it gets noisy).

We were thinking of staying at the ASMO my girls love pop. But because of the rooms haven't been refurbed in a long while. We will stick with pop.

But I would choose where you want to stay. That is the most important thing. If you love the ASMO then stay there.

That's what we thought, but it's not the case with ASMo. I switched from Pop to ASMo in 2008, worst mistake ever. The rooms ARE rundown, and they are in desperate need of a complete overhaul. Some people love ASMo, and that's great, just not for us until they redo the place. We have stayed at all the values and moderates.

Why not try one of the other 2 values that you haven't stayed at?! I love so much to stay in a different resort each trip because it's something new to look forward to.

We were there in June 2009. It was extremely hot and there were a few long waits for the bus in the heat. The buses run through all 3 all-star resorts and Movies is the last one. So by the time they got to us there was no or limited room. Just something to keep in mind.

pop has its own bus transportation and lower hotel tax,differnt county then all stars ect.

I agree with trying other values. I'm not a huge sports guy by any means, but All Star Sports is my fav...smaller resort feel than something like Pop and newly renovated rooms. It's my favorite of all 4 values that I've stayed at.

By the time you go all the rooms at POP will have been completely refurbished. Honestly, I have no idea why they chose POP over ASMovies to refurb? The rooms at ASMovies seem to need it much more than the ones at POP.
We stayed at ASMovies once and we just returned from our 3rd stay at POP. For our next trip we are booking POP again. Why?
1. We just adore the atmosphere of the resort. It is bright, fun and clean.
2. The rooms at POP have always been immaculate (and we have yet to stay in a refurbished room).
3. With 3 pools, we have never felt like we have in others.
4. We LOVE the foodcourt.
5. We LOVE the CM's.

We used the bus system and both POP and ASMovies. We didn't love the fact that ASMovies was last on the bus route of the 3 All Stars. The one downside to the bus system at POP is that is seems to be the absolute last stop at the Parks.

I'm in total agreement Microcell. WL is our home away from home. Just a little over the budget. So, we will be going to ASMo next year. I really enjoy sitting in the WL with a coffee in the morning and watching the Lodge wake up. Pretty cool !

We are ASMo fans! We are going to try ASMu on our next trip. While POP does have it's own buses and we liked the icons, we prefer the smaller feel resort. POP is so much bigger than the All-Stars. It was soooo crowded everywhere and the food court was packed.

You can't go wrong with either chose!
But if you said the kids prefer the statues at ASMOvies better.... I'd say go with that. I know my kids also prefer that Movies has the cartoons in the room, and Pop doesn't.
We love both resorts, always have a tough time deciding which each trip!
We found buses comparable at both resorts even with Movies sharing buses.
Only plus with Pop I'd say is they just did a refurb - though have recently stayed at Movies and thought the rooms were satisfactory.

Bottom line.. go with whichever the kids pick out!

Has anyone stayed at both? We've been to ASmo about 3 times. We visted POP acouple of weeks ago (we were at the CR then). I booked POP for next year because it's newer and has only one bus stop but it seemed like there twice as many kids and the court room looked like a tornado went through it. Does POP seem to have more kids. (even though parents should make their kids eat more unmessy- it's not the resorts fault). But I'm trying to remember if it was THAT bad at ASmo? or maybe I just hit a bad day?

As of right now I'm keeping Pop. When you say cartoons in the room, do you mean on tv? Do they not show cartoons on the in your room tv at Pop?
