Staying at YC... Pool ?

I will be staying at the YC next year and had a SAB question. How does the whole wrist band thing work? Where do you get them? Do I need KTTWC for everyone in the party?

Any other tips would be great

They'll give you a wristband. Be sure to bring your room key. My teenaged daughter and her friend went to the pool and the lifeguard insisted on seeing a room key. I had to go to the pool and bring the key to prove we were staying in the hotel.

There are two places you can get the wrist bands, IIRC. One is along the covered walkway that connects the Beach Club to Yacht Club, near Beaches and Cream. The other is located near Hurricane Hannah's.

A lifeguard is stationed at each location. He/she will check your KTTW card, put the wrist band on you, and give you a towel. I'm pretty sure the KTTW cards are coded with the number of adults / children in your party. When we stayed, the lifeguards only looked at one card. They MAY ask to see a KTTW card for each member of your party.

I also will clarify. My son and my niece (both under 12) had to show their room ID.

NEW POLICY started in late July this year, every member of the party has to show their room card. Not a problem, just make sure you have them all. Cuts down on friends coming over and swimming with your kids, but then if they want to do that, just go to the "quiet pools" where no one checks cards.

Only other tip would be to have fun. You can bring your own noodles but don't bring any floats as they won't be permitted.

Come over to the YC/BC thread and look at all the comments on SAB and its rules. There has been quite a bit written about it by DISers that have been there in the last two months.

We sayed there most recently- Sept 08,Sept 09, Dec 09...ALL of us needed to have our KTTW including our 5 yr old daughter.They also looked at all of them BEFORE issuing the armbands.They also made rounds at the pool throughout the day checking armbands

They control the entrances to the pool, so it's very easy to see where you need to enter, check in with the CM, show your KTTW cards (yup, one for everyone including kids), and get your towels. The system works very well.

We just got back from our Aug 13, 2010 stay. We all had to show our keys to get the wristband. What a great pool area! We loved it so much!

Looks like the KTTW question has been answered, so I will give you my best SAB advice: Bring JUMBO sized pool noodles for the ultimate in relaxation around the lazy river. Standard pool noodles do not provide enough "floatiness" unless you are a kid or extremely slender. They do sell the standard ones at the pool shop.

When we were there last week they checked KTTK cards for all of us, my 8yo son included. However, they weren't checking cards after 5pm. My son was all anxious about this because he didn't have a wristband and didn't want to get in trouble.

The only other thing that I can think of is that the "towel huts" (one in the BC side and one in the YC side) is where they give you the wrist bands. The color of the bands changes daily, so make sure to get a band each day.

So I guess here is another question...

Do I need to bring sissors to cut the wrist bands off?

It's easier with scissors, but they will come off without. The adhesive section is scored. If you pull on it, it will rip at the score marks, making it easier to come off. The wrist bands are similar to what you would get at most local amusement parks or water parks.

Beside the fact that DS and I both had to show our keys, my tip is to look before you leap. Parts of the "lazy" river aren't so lazy and are up to 8 feet deep. We jumped in from a step into a very swift current where it was very deep. Good thing we could swim. We loved that pool.

Thanks for the tip this is REALLY good to know since I will be travelling with 3 kids one of which can't swim yet....Here's hoping that by next year he will be good to go
