How do people do this???

I have just booked my vacation for May next year. I booked the Polynesian - my favorite of the Disney resorts. Seriously I love it there (or I did the last time we went many years ago). I look at the pics and cannot wait!!!

BUT - before I started doing the research for this trip I really thought I would want to stay at WL (the one MK area resort I have not been to). When putting everything together - I came to the conclusion that if we could spend the extra we would do Poly... but the thoughts of WL are already sneaking back.

I can't change my plans now - my parents would kill me and just wouldn't understand the craziness.. How do I make the crazy change resort feelings go away!

You've got the resort bug! :)

I think many of us go through this. I usually get it to go away by reassuring myself that I will go back in the future and can try a different resort at that time. Unlike others who stay at the same resort every trip, we usually try a different resort every time we go.

I'm the opposite. I've booked other resorts, and then have changed back to the Poly because it kept creeping in. I may have a problem :goodvibes

We have stayed at both resorts and in my opinion you can't go wrong. Unfortunately, our family cannot stay at the WL without spending more $$$ on a suite or villa, so we are happily at the Poly!

However, we contemplated other resorts this year, but just didn't want to take the chance. When we were doing moderates we stayed our first year at CSR and then the following year tried the CBR and hated it!

I am not a fan of split stays (packing and unpacking would drive me nuts) but have you considered this?

I am planning a trip too, and I keep going back and forth (in my mind at least!). Right now we are booked for a split stay at WL/BC. But I keep thinking about Poly and/or Dolphin. I wish that there were discounts out for that time of year so I could really plan better!

I do love to do split stay....this helps with my indecisiveness:laughing:

We have done split stays the last two times. I just couldn't choose between resorts. We have a toddler, and even with that added factor I didn't find it to be particularly challenging to make the switch between resorts. We let bell services take care of moving our things and it worked out fine. We have also gone to other resorts for meals. This lets us get a feel for a new place before we take the plunge and book there.

Ancestry- I am slightly jealous of your adults-only getaway! I hope that you have a wonderful time!

We haven't stayed at the same resort twice yet. Like PPs, I like checking out the different resorts. I think in this case I might steer more towards the Poly just because I LOVE the coffee and Tonga Toast at Kona...

I feel your pain. For our trip next May I asked my son what deluxe resort he wanted then I booked it. This should keep me from changing my mind right? I can't disappoint a 8 year old can I? :laughing:Seriously this year I changed resorts 4 or 5 times, dates a couple times, dining plans 3 times, ADRS more times than I can count. I'm using a TA this time just to keep myself from calling disney to make a change.:rotfl:We ended up at the poly this year and loved it I would stick with what you have.

I hear you!

I've always wanted to stay at WL, love that resort. The problem is when staying on site I always take my GC and there are usually 5 of us. Now I'm looking at the Boardwalk for our May trip.

I do this too. Last year I booked POR and a few weeks later my TA contacted me saying sorry we coincidently booked POF. And I could keep that or CBR as the POR was booked. I was not happy as I didn't really know what to do. Then I said I was fine with the POF and at that time was told oh well the POR came avail. so I booked it for you but can switch it back to POF. I was spinning as I was excited for one then was excited for the other and then had to choose again. My DH really likes POR so I said to have it at that. So when we went my DH and I went walking through the POF and he said he wishes he stayed there as we had a lot less walking to do.:rotfl2: I know now we will stay there on our next trip in Sept '11. We will have our DGS and we are not getting any younger wand like the short walk to a room. Now if I had a chance to stay Deluxe we have always said we wanted WL but having a monorail resort would be nice.:upsidedow

Thanks everyone!! it helps to know that I am not totally out there!!! I have decided that we will definitely schedule some time to go over to the WL for a meal. That way I will know what it is like for the next time we visit.

That happened to me too. We took our first family trip this year, and I really was all set to book WL (my favorite resort), but DH out of nowhere said he wanted to stay at an Epcot resort, so we stayed at the BC. The entire wait up to the trip, I was questioning our choice.

Turns out, we LOVED the BC. It was amazing, and our vacation would have not been the same at the WL. So, it worked out.

Just know that it will work out, and if it doesn't for some reason, the WL will be there for the next trip.

We are excited to stay our first stay at the POLY this month. I have decided if we ever stay at WL it will be at XMAS time. I think it might have a more XMAS feeling that time of year than the POLY. I think the rooms are on the smaller side, like AKL, than those at the POLY. That was a disappointment to us when we stayed there. AKL feels more like a mod. to us.

I usually pick my resort based on time of year and what I'll be doing. I prefer all-in-one style resorts if I travel in the summer, but I don't mind separate buildings in the winter and spring when it's cooler. I love FW, but I won't stay there if the temps are around 80 or higher - it's a March/April favorite. So I rarely stay at the same resort two trips in a row. Once I book a trip, it's pretty rare for me to change resorts. I may be thinking about what resort I'll try the next time, but I generally don't second guess my decision once it's made.

I would focus on the resort you've booked - finding out all the little details and fun things to do, and try to stay away from discussions about other resorts.
