"Now That's What I'm Talkin' 'Bout!"- Our 1st DVC stay-May 2010-Wrap Up 9/23

So our last morning started out fairly uneventful. The alarm went off and I got that sinking feeling in my stomach that it was our last day and I would be flying today. Since everything was packed and everyone had showered we decided to head over to breakfast at Boma and then we would come back and load our luggage into the rental.

The walk to AKL wasn't too bad at all and when we arrived we were seated right away. My family was pretty quiet throughout the meal...I guess we were all kind of depressed that we were leaving. We loved the juice and everyone found plenty to eat on the buffet. I have to say that we enjoyed the breakfast buffet much more than we enjoyed our dinner there a few years back. :thumbsup2 Toward the end of the meal, our waiter brought Joe a little birthday surprise...

Here he is with Linds during breakfast...

After filling our bellies, we tipped our waiter and made out to the front of the lobby. We had planned to meet Dana (racefanof88) and Christie (bouncycat) at DTD around 9:30am. As we were walking out I noticed this sweet little girl in playing in front of us. She looked really familiar and it caused me to look around. Sitting right there on a bench waiting for the ME was Queila and her husband. Their little sweetie Beatriz was who I had spotted. I said hello to them and we chatted for just a few seconds. Unfortunately their bus had arrived and they had to go. It was really fun meeting them though! :goodvibes

Joe thought it was hilarious that I had spotted them and struck up a conversation. (He really has no idea how close I am to my DIS friends.)

After walking back to AKV-K we grabbed our bags, made one last run through the room to ensure we didn't leave anything and headed downstairs. It was sad to be leaving AKV. We had enjoyed a really wonderful stay. :sad2: Our experience really made up for the days of rain the year before. I can't say enough positive things about our villa and the staff. Overall it was outstanding!

We took the elevator down to the parking area, loaded our bags and said one last goodbye for now to AKV. I had tears in my eyes as we were leaving. I'm a total sap like that. (I have tears just writing about it right now).

We made it to DTD with no problems. We decided to hand out at the WOD while I waited for a firm location from Dana. She had been texting me already that morning. We weren't there long when I got the word that we would be meeting at the Lego Store. I have to tell ya that I wasn't super excited about it but it ended up working out great. The girls found plenty to occupy themselves while the Big Kids chatted. :thumbsup2 Here's Josie with her creation...

We spent about an hour in there before we decided to head over to WOD again. We all did some shopping and then decided to have lunch together at Earl of Sandwich. It started to rain a little so our timing was perfect. We got in line, got our sandwiches and spent some time chatting while we ate. It was a great meet. Again, I was a dumb-dumb and didn't take a single picture. :sad1: We really did enjoy our time with Christie, her family and Dana. Turns out we have a lot in common. :goodvibes After the food, we all kind of went our separate ways. Joe, the girls and I checked out a few more stores. We had 46 snack credits to use so we headed over to Goofy's Candy Company. This is Josie's favorite...I had to take a pic of in front of the sign with my phone...

We most certainly used every single snack credit and left loaded with snacks for the next three to four weeks. This was just another affirmation that Deluxe Dining Plan is too much for my family. We didn't come close to using all the credits by the end of the week.

After leaving Goofy's it was time to head to the airport. It was sad but necessary. We made it to MCO without any issues and stopped along the route to gas the rental up. We made it through drop off without any problems, we checked out luggage and made our way over to the mini-monorail. Why does the last day seem to fly by? :confused3 If you read my last TR this picture may look somewhat familiar....I think we have another annual family picture with this one. It's amazing how much the girls have grown and changed since last year...

After grabbing some drinks in the terminal and a potty break we were boarding our flight to Nashville. The flight was super bumpy and I was a nervous wreck but we made it home. As we were exiting the plane, I received a call from the limo driver. He was waiting outside for us. We grabbed our bags from baggage claim and were seated inside the limo in little time. It was soooo nice to sit back and relax on the 45 minute drive back to our home. It was sad but at least we were able to take it easy and just reflect on the trip with our friends. It it had to be over at least it was pleasant and fun.

Up Next: Final Thoughts....

..

It was really nice to meet you too... even if it was at the very end of our trip. It is too bad the bus was already there and we could not talk some more. :(

We were sitting there all depressed thinking these were our last moments at the hotel and you guys showed up. It was a nice way to end our trip.

Your little girls are adorable too.

The breakfast at Boma sounds yummy. Maybe next time. ;)

I always always always hate the last day of a vacation. At least you were able to spend your last few hours with friends at DTD.

The last day is always so sad. Glad you liked Boma-it is on the list for our Dec trip. Fun that you got to mee Q!!! Yay for another day for ur Oct trip.

Well, I wasn't as far behind as I thought I was.

Your Segway tour looked like so much fun. One day, Bryan and I will plan somthing like that for ourselves. Sorry to hear that your lunch at Chefs wasn't too great. I often hear mixed reviews on it.

That Sesame STreet cake is just awesome. You are really talented Leanne.

The last day is always so sad. I tear up a bit as well, so you're not the only one. We enjoy Boma for dinner, but we really need to try it out for breakfast once. It's so cool that you met up with so many people from the Dis while there.

Looking forward to those final thoughts on the trip.

Awww man....I hate last days and I hate reading about them too - makes me sad.:sad1:

Boma breakfast sounds great - don't know if we will ever get over there for it unless we stay at AKL, but I think it sounds delicious!

Wow - 46 snack credits to use? That's a lot, but what fun that must have been to load up with lots of Disney goodies to take home with you!!

The mini-monorail pic is so cute!

Thanks for sharing your trip and your family with us - I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting you through your report! Can't wait to read another one!!! :thumbsup2

Sara

I really, really enjoyed our DTD day :goodvibes. I'm hoping we will all be there again at the same time soon :thumbsup2.

aww..so sad it's all over!!!

but..looks like you're heading back and thats great!!! Will you be doing a PTR or TR??? Can't wait to read the next adventures!

Wow, I can't believe your TR is almost over:sad2: The good thing though is I know they'll be another one in the future!

Cannot wait to hear about your next adventure!!!

I get seriously sad just reading about your last day! :sad2: I cry every time we have to leave.:sad1: We spent quite a few of snack credits at Goofy's last year too. :thumbsup2

Well, last days are never fun, but it sounds like you made the most of this one. Breakfast at Boma is a must for us every trip. The kids really love that juice!

Shopping day was fun. And, the last day does seem to fly by. It is sad to end a report, but ya'll had an awesome time topped off with a good lunch. Yea, my DH can talk your head off!!! HAHAHA I think I'm gonna meet up with Dana for the MVMCP in December, and let the boys do their thing, and us girls will be girls :) HEEEEHEEEEE. Let me know when your're in town again....I'm NOT being laid off, so I'm happy!!!! :) Enjoy the rest of your summer, and a nice long quiet weekend!!

Goodness! That is a lot of snack credits left. Did you have other credits left too? It is so sad to read the last day. :sad2: However, it seems you had a good one. :goodvibes

Hi Leanne,
The segway tour looks and sounds great. Glad you and Joe were able to do that. We decided not to last December but now I regret that. Your Remy pics from Chef's de France are adorable too, sorry the food was gross. I love the pic of Lindsey on the airport monorail  I guess she doesn't want to go home either. Sad your TR has come to an end. Looking forward to your next one though ;).

Sad your report is coming to a close. It really has been wonderful to "meet" you and your family! I hope one day we can meet in disney, I just know Josie and Chloe would have lots of fun. Sad we are missing each other by a few days in October.

Yay for a special last day, how nice to spend some time with some special disers. The pic of Josie and Lindsey on the mini monorail is a keeper. Posed pictures are great, but it is much better when personality and sense of humor can be captured.:goodvibes

46 snack credits, wow! Good thing you stopped by Goofy's before you left. Deluxe dining truly is alot of food. I'd like to try it and try some of the 2 credit meals, but IDK you could loose some precious time using all the credits.

Just booked airfare and guess what????

Joe and I are going to Disneyland this weekend! I'm so excited!!!!! I've never been.:banana::banana::banana: Best part is that my company is sending me to Long Beach for business so we only have to pay for Joe's expenses! How awesome is that???? :yay::yay::yay:

I will be flying out on Sunday and coming back on Thursday. It will be a quick trip but it should be a lot of fun. I will be back in the next week or so to update and reply to everyone. Have a wonderful holiday!! Mine is starting out fantastic!! :goodvibes

:cool1::cool1:AWESOME on the flights and Disneyland!!!!!:cool1::cool1:

Mike and I went to Disneyland on our way home from our honeymoon in Tahiti! It was fun, but no WDW!! I would love to go again though, especially since it has been over 8 years and there are so many new things to see. I hope you get to see World of Color, it looks really impressive!

Have fun!

Oh you lucky duck! Come back with lots of pictures so you can write a mini-trip report. I've always wanted to go to Disneyland.

Ahhh I am so jealous! We talked about going again next summer but I don't think we'll have enough DVC points with all our other trips booked. Have fun! Disneyland is very different from WDW but still a lot of fun.
