If you had not done your Mickey, try to make it RED. Im sorry , I really don't know what could had happened... :confused3

I had already done the Mickey black. BUT when I rinsed it this morning, it came out OK! There was a white line around the stitching between the blacks, so it still looks like a Mickey head! And there was SOME red in the bottom and back of the shirt so it is OK. My kids like it anyway so that is what counts. Yay!

So now I do have a question though. It seems like a lot of the color came out in the washer, especially the black. I mean it still has plenty, but I am wondering if there is a better way to keep it in there.

On the first rinse, do you use HOT water or cold water? What about in the washer?

Thanks so much! These are so fun, and your newest ones look great!

Super! :D

Black tends to run a lot so its normal to see a lot of dye during the wash. If you left the shirt for 24 hours that is plenty of time, the rest of the dye would have to wash away anyway.
I don't use hot water, just warm water and cold to rinse.

Well I'm not talking so much during the wash, but like I rinsed it REALLY well before the wash, and it looked one way, and then after it looked like it faded quite a bit from what it was, and there were more white areas in the shirt. And in the area like where the outline was it was pretty gray looking after rinsing but after the wash it was white and seemed like a larger area, which is fine, but I just wonder how much washed out of other areas if those are just the ones I noticed.
But that's OK :) That still may be the answer, I just wanted to clarify what I meant in case I was being confusing. :)

Thanks for all your help!

Oh i see, well the dye that didn't cured will wash away, you might want to leave them longer than 24 hours.

Where did you ladies find the girls dresses. I think I saw that they were faded glory = walmart?? But here in Ohio we're halfway to winter.

Any online sources for cute girls dye-able dresses?

TIA!

I got mine from Wal mart online way back in March, they are way gone right now.. I Love that brand, they are organic cotton, super soft, doesn't shrink and the colors look super, vivid and pretty.

Pixie,
Since we know you order from dharma, what black do you get? I see they have 4 different ones. I just thought of this because the shirt I actually have on now I used black on (Jacquard Procion's version) and it has a definitely blue hue to it, which is fine because the other colors are blue and lime green. I was just wondering if you have a preference in the black dyes and/or have better results with one vs the other.

Agreed, I like the red and black ones, I think they turned out just fine! They would have gone over great around here before the Buffalo Sabres went back to their old colors.

Hi :goodvibes

I always use New Black from Dharma. Yes, other shades have blue or purple shades, but new black is my favorite.

i love these shirts! i just picked up some dye (all i could find is tulip, and i didn't want to order any incase it turns into a disaster, and i had the coupon for michaels...) i read through the thread, but couldn't find any info on this....
anyway, i love the ones that have the 2 mickey heads....but when you do those, where do you twist? do you twist the shirt with both mickey heads and have 2 swirly things (for lack of better term)? or only the one? and if only one, what do you do with the 2nd mickey head?
i picked up some orange and black, i plan on making one for the mnsshp and if it turns out well, i'll make one for dh too.....
thanks!

Yes, you can twist one of the mickeys and the other just goes along with the rest of the shirt.
