Dairy Farmers Wife IS going to Disney in March/April!

Your photos of Claire are just wonderful! She IS an awesome and cute princess! princess:

Sorry to hear about Skip's medical problems - but the Aug 31 appointment is unbelievable! :scared1:

Most of my patients say "Golden year? That's funny, there is nothing Golden about them.....more like Rusty years!!!"

LOL! Thats the truth.

I'm sorry about Skip's medial problems as well as the family drama. I hope it all resolves itself so you get have your Disney trip.

All of the photos you post of Claire are amazing. I think #2 is my favorite.

thanks. I need to get my rear in gear and actually order some now. Before they are outdated. :cutie:

Thanks. He does have a different Dr to see Monday, so hopefully we get a clue as to what is going on. And so far this office seems to much friendlier (on the phone) than the Aug. 31st one.

Signing on! I liked your last TR as well! Claire is such a cutie~

I hope things go well with the Dr. on Monday!

My goal was to do another history update tpday... but then I read on the budget board last night that K-mart is having 50% off there clearance this week, so instead I went shopping today.
If you read my TR last year, you may remember I did this last July and got a TON of stuff for cheap.
I don't think the selection was as good this year, but it was still decent. I pretty much have Claire set for Christmas and Birthday.
The best deal was a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse race track. I think it was around $50 retail, and I got it for $2.49!!!! :scared1:
I also picked up a Vtech, V Smile Cyber poacket for $26 and 3 games for $7.50 each.
Lots of Polly Pocket stuff as well. I'll have to take inventory and make totlas up later on to see just how good of a deal I got with everything. Claire is going to Vacation Bible School with a friend this evening so I plan to hit another K-mart and see what they have. Last year the 2 different ones had alot of different stuff. I would like to find another Mickey race set to save for a gift. Can't beat that price.
One day when Claire is away, I'll take a picture of the LOOT!

Just wondering how Skip made out at the Dr today!

Skip went to the Dr today. I really didn't hear a whole lot on what this Dr said,(we haven't seen each other much today) but he is now scheduled with a nuerologist for next Wed. He has degenerative disc disease. The 1st step is to control pain with medication, which we have done and doesn't work. Next is injections, which I assume will be hopefully started at this appointmnet on Wed. AIf that doesn't help then it's on to surgery! let's all hope and pray that the injections help and we don't have to go further! I have a bad feeling they won't, but I am trying to be positive. They also said he was very young to have it, but it has nothing to do with abusing the body, more of a genetic type thing. At least we have some answers at this point and know there is a plan of action.

Good tip on KMART. Yay for finding out what is wrong. What a shame that it is a genetic thing. I hope the injections work.

I am glad you have some answers and I will be praying the injections work! My mom has several health issues (related to the cancer she has had 3+ times) and it always makes her feel better when she hears something is genetic or a result of her treatments and not something she could have prevented.

Be sure to keep up updated! We all want a healthy and happy Skip! :)

At least now you know what is wrong with Skip. It's the unknown that worries me most. I'll pray that the injections will work and no surgery will be required.

Thanks everyone! I really hope they work too....but I just have that luck...not the good kind. LOL! And I seem to have cursed Skip with it now too.
My dad used to say if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. :rotfl2:

I keep forgetting to ask him if he asked the Dr about tractor pulling. He is so antsy to get back at it. I didn't ask though if he mentioned it to this Dr or not.
We've both been so busy the last few days that we are basically ships passing in the night. I asked a few questions last night, but didn't get much out of him.

When I last left off....

I had told you about my 1995 Disney trip.
The next year (1996) my friend and I returned to FL, but did other things like Bush Gardens and visited friends...etc.
She wanted to go in 1997 as well again. I decided early on in the year that I would take Michael and Paige with my tax refund.
So I told her and she decided not to go, as she knew we would be hitting the parks hard, and no adult time.
I really wasn't inviting her, but did give her the option just in case. LOL!
So I decided on a May trip. The other 2 FL trips had been in July and Aug...and extremely hot and really long waits for rides.
This was before I had any access to internet or any type of computer at all, so there was no such thing as planning online. I bought some books and did some reading.
I went to a TA near my work and decided to stay off I-drive for 5 nights I beleive. You guys will faint when I tell you the price...well aproximate price, because I can't remember totally. It was about $500 for hotel and 4 day parkhopper tickets for the 3 of us! :scared1:
After telling my mom about the trip, she became worried. I was driving down and she thought a single mom with 2 kids would definately run into trouble. I did everything on my own, so it really didn't bother me, but after a week or so, she decided she would come along as well. I added her on the package, and I think all it cost was the price of her ticket. I think I brought about another $500 for the whole trip to spend. That was meals, gas, a hotel for the drive, etc. My mom did pay for part of the gas as well, and some meals she would treat. But I went home with still money left! :thumbsup2
We left early evening and drove through the night. The kids slept most of the way, and my mom and I switched off driving, but I think I did most of it.
By late afternoon the next day we stopped and got a hotel..I think in Ocala... But I could be wrong.
We stretched, swam and ate pizza.

The next day we arrived at the hotel fairly early and I think we went to MK.
Again, it's been so long ago, so I can't remember all the details of the trip but we had a blast!
We also went to Universal one day. It was the second to last day. (last full day)
We decided to get in line for jaws. It was really hot, and the water in the area smelt so fishy. The ride seemed to keep stopping and we debated on whether to stick it out or not. But we stayed. It started to hit me then. ....The smell, the heat, the nausea feeling, faint, ick...help!!!! I kept trying to put it out of my mind, but just couldn't. Finally I told my mom, I don't feel so hot, I'm going to the bathroom to put cold water on my face.
By the time I got to the bathroom, I knew water wasn't going to do the trick and ran into a stall. And yes I got sick. I stayed in there awhile to be sure it was all out and also so anyone who had hear those nice gagging noises would be gone when I came out. :lmao:
A few minutes later I hear "MOM! Are you throwing up?" Leave it to Paige to blow my cover! :headache:
I felt better, but super hungry. We decided that we would head back to the room, let the kids swim, and I could rest, and then we could come back later in the day. We stopped at a fast food joint and got food. Big mistake! :rolleyes1
I laid down while they swam and sure enough about an hour later, that food did not want to stay with me.
So then my mom decided to take the kids back, while I slept. Good choice, but was bummed about missing the day. Thank God MOM had come with us.
The next day we hit MK, one last time and I was felling much better, but it started pouring, so early afternoon we hit the road home. I thought I was better, but actually I was dead tired and weak. My mom drove the majority of the way home. Again, Thank God she came!

I've got to sort through and find the pictures from the trip. I don't have photobucket very organized. I'll post some of them later!

EDIT....I wrote in the previous post that we stayed 5 nights, but actually I think it was 4 nights, the 5th I was including was the night in Ocala.

Remember my Dumbo dream. How I had wanted to ride Dumbo for 2 trips and both times my "party" wouldn't ride....Well this trip was MINE. I was in charge, and we were riding Dumbo....even if it killed us!
That 1st day we got there we did a few rides and then we looked at Dumbo and the line wasn't too bad.
We got in line and waited. We got closer and closer and I was so excited! Then it kind of looked dark off in the distance. But they still ran the ride..and we got sorted to a section and the color card. YES! ...NO!!!!Sprinkles!! Ok, they won't shut it down till lightening! We were the next to ride! We WERE going to make it!!!!
NOPE, Lightening flashed and the ride was shut down and everyone had to evacuate the cue. Nothing given to come back in your place in line or anything. Just good bye, nice to know you, try again later. :confused3:confused3
I was so sad, but it did start pouring. We never made it back either the rest of the trip. So 0 for 3 now with Dumbo.

We decided to go to the bathroom and use the facilities while it rained. This is when one of the funniest things happened on the trip. We still joke about it...at Paige's expense.
We walked out of the bathroom and the concrete was super slippery from being wet. The rain had stopped, but it really rained hard for that short amount of time. Paige comes strolling out and totally wipes out and does the splits. I know, I'm a mean mom, but it was hilarious. We helped her up, but we couldn't stop laughing. She was ok, but mad at us for laughing.

I don't think I mentioned the kids ages. Paige was almost 5 and Michael was 8. They were really good about getting up early to go to the parks and staying late, and we didn't have too many major melt downs during the trip. They really went with the flow. :wizard: Something Claire can't do. She NEEDS her sleep!!

The next day was EPCOT, and another very funny memory happened....again at Paige's expense. (It's so sad our greatest memories are of her getting hurt ) We got up bright and early and headed to Epcot. As we were walking up, Paige was just in AWE of Spaceship Earth. She kept walking with her head up looking at it. I noticed she wasn't watching where she went..so I said "Paige, watch where you're going, Paige, watch out, theres a pole, Paige, look where you're going, Paige, Paige PAIGE!!!!" BAM! Straight into the pole.
Ok another bad mom moment. But again it was hilarious. My mom was closest to her and quickly grabbed her and hugged her while she cried and cried. Michael was laughing, ...I was laughing,... and my MOM was laughing...all of us luaghing while we are comforting her, but are eyes were actually watering from laughing so hard. Poor Paige. :rotfl2:
The rest of the day went much more smoothly. Except fo Paige and her feet. She has awful feet and blistered every day. We actually brought a different pair of shoes for he each day to switch it up for her. Basically, so the old blisters would heal, but at the same time new ones would form. Paige now wears a size 11! Poor kid got my awful feet.

Just a word of warning, some of these photos are on imageshack, instead of photobucket. I hate imageshack, they randomly delete stuff or the links stop working and then sometimes come back, so if a photo disappears, I am sorry. Maybe when I gettime I'll switch them over to photobucket.

And here is another one of my very fashionable outfits with the shorts up to my chin.

Awww Jen, I hate that you didn't get to ride Dumbo this time either! That's the pits!

We are a family that laughs when one of us stumbles or gets hurt too. (Not seriously hurt) So, I don't think you are a bad mom at all for laughing when Paige fell or ran into the pole. We would totally laugh at that.

I can't believe how young all of you look in the pictures.

Great update! I love hearing about past trips. Too funny about Paige! DH's family would laugh at stuff like that, but I don't think my family would...

...which is why I joined DH's family!

Can't wait to hear about when you actually get to ride Dumbo for the first time! You should get to ride it twice in a row, just for your previous bad luck!

Isn't it terrible that we laugh when someone gets hurt! :lmao: Just can't help it though. And it wasn't serious, of course, but it was like watching a movie. Paige is still clumsy too. About 2 years ago she went out for a jog...She was about 1/2 mile away from the house and she said she fell and totally skinned her knees. She said she was so embarrassed because she did it in front of someones house and quickly got up and just kept running..hoping and praying no one saw her.
Another time she broke her toe at her dads house, and she told me she slipped on the dough. I was like what is dough? And she was like Duh..the wet stuff on the grass in the morning. LOL! So not only had she broken her toe by slipping on DEW...but she didn't even know what it was called. :rotfl2:

Caught up again! How I love those way back when reports, let's you get to know a person far better!
Sorry, but I had to LOL too when you described Paige's accidents! Poor thing!

At least you know what's wrong with Skip! Now let's just hope they find a proper way of treatment, that works for him!
