Where did this heat and all these people come from? The new PTR/TR link 5/7

The Grand Floridian is gorgeous but like you, I'd feel out of place there. And they probably wouldn't care for my wild, wild six year old son. ;)

I'm sorry the food was sort of a bummer. The pictures do look very good. How rude of your waitress! When you pay something like $59 for a steak, you do not need your waitress to be so snotty. No way Jose!

Great update. :)

So did Shelby give your snotty waitress the "I told you so" look when she came back with the right drink? I would have been very tempted to

Sorry your meal didn't live up to expectations, I'll agree with everyone else - it certainly looks good, too bad it didn't taste as good as it looked!

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, hoping for good news on the job! :goodvibes

Hey there! I read your whole report over the weekend and I really like your style of writing, nice job! The more I see TRs of people staying at CSR, the more it makes me want to stay there. It looks so cool and peaceful. We were deciding between that and CBR on our April trip and ultimately chose CBR. We did love it but now i'm dying to stay at CSR!

Sorry your Narcoossee's dinner wasn't all it's cracked up to be. It seems like it would be so nice though to sit right on the water like that. I really want to try it, but as far as signatures go I think we'll do Jiko next. Our favorite is California Grill, and your review of it from your first day made my mouth waaaaater!

Can't wait for more :cool2:

I am SO happy you did this review!! The timing could not be more perfect! I am planning an adults only trip to the GF and my DH and I were talking about Nacroossees. I had a feeling we should skip it.

Have you heard anything good about Victoria and Albert's?

Great update....you have me re-thinking our Narcoosee's ADR in September....hmmm, gonna have to think about that now:confused3

Sorry you were not overwhelemed with your dinner at Narcoosee's. The more reviews I see of this place, people either love it or think it "eh." Your pictures of your folks and the GF are great.

Sorry to hear you were underwhelmed by Narcoosee's, but those crab cakes do look delicious!

The Grand Floridian is a beautiful resort -- so elegant! It would be easy to pretend we were living in a different era there!

the crab cakes were very good! I know you love GF, I had an odd feeling of being in the movie Titanic (before the iceberg of course) but that I belonged with Jack :rotfl:

Sorry for your snotty waitress at Narcosee's, but I hope the crab cakes + dessert made up for it!!

The appetizers and desserts were definitely worth the visit!

I keep going back and forth on Narcoossee's. I'd like to try it for the cheesecake alone but I wouldn't get the lobster there, when I live in New England. I don't know. Maybe just go for apps and desserts?? That might be a good plan. What do you think for Marc & I??

Your poor blistered feet.

It's so nice you were able to have dinner with your parents while you were down there. :goodvibes

It is a beautiful location for sure and you could make a very nice meal out of the appetizers and desserts. We just were not impressed with the entrees which of course are the most expensive part of the meal.

My tootsies were hurting big time, I wished I'd had your foot kit!! My parents stopped that night at a Walgreens to buy me some moleskin (do you know how much they want for that stuff in the resort gift shop? :scared1:)

Sorry to hear it was a disappointing night between Narcoossee's and the internet cord. :headache: The view from your table looks divine and your parents are just adorable. I'm sure you guys had a lovely time visiting despite the snotty waitress and underwhelming flavors. This restaurant is still on my "someday" list. It usually gets such high marks. Perhaps you just had an off night/bad service?

I agree with you that the Grand Floridian is gorgeous and a great place to visit but just not a place I can feel comfortable. It's like my grandmother's living room and the good china. I keep worrying I'm going to break something! :lmao:

Can't wait to hear what you did the next day!

Happy 4th of July!!

It's entirely possible we had an off night. :confused3

Grandmas living room :lmao: My grandparents didn't have anything that nice but I love the visual!

Awww...what a bummer about dinner!!! Especially the service at the beginning!

I have to agree with you the GF is simply beautiful!! I love walking around that resort!!!!

Still praying for you about the job!!! I know something is going to work out for you!!!!

She was for sure one of the worst servers on this trip. The waitress at Brown Derby was not great but mostly because I think she was new and didn't know a lot yet, no attitude though. We had one at Cape May who wasn't great either but at a buffet, it's less important.

Today's the day I'm supposed to hear about the job...keep them coming please!

Katie -

I had to laugh as you were describing the self parking at GF. It horrendous. It is the worst self parking on the planet! BW is a close second, but at least at the BW you have a chance of finding a closer parking spot!

Your meal was almost exactly what I got last September and I would agree with you on the lobster and filet. My filet had a nice flavor, but it wasn't spectacular. My lobster was a bit chewy. It wasn't the best. Just a ho-hum meal. There are so many better places to eat.

Despite that, its a lovely location and I'm sure you had a nice time visiting with your parents.

I debated just having them park at MK and grabbing the monorail...next time I'll know!

there was a spice in the sauce on the steak that I didn't care for and the cuts were so thin, it's hard to not overcook them.

Yes, we had a nice evening together, but I felt bad my parents paid OOP for a meal that was just OK.

Never eaten there but have no desire to either. I love the GF tho. It is beautiful. Two of my girls always wanted to stay there ever since they laid eyes on it.

When we went on our family trip, DH suggested we might stay there someday but I think he just liked the fact it is on the monorail loop. Now that I have visited, I think we're more likely to do the Poly if we ever do deluxe.

The picture of your Mom and Dad in front of the car is so sweet! It looks like he's about to open the door for his lady, and she's standing there in a floral dress just looking so ladylike. Adorable!

Sorry to hear about your meh meal - all the food sure LOOKS delicious though. The cappuccino gelato sounds heavenly to me about now!

Yes, my parents are cute aren't they :goodvibes

the gelato was good, it paled though in comparison to that cheesecake!!

Your parents are adorable!

Thank for the report on Narcoossee's. The food looks great in the pictures...but then looks aren't everything!

I was surprised the food wasn't better because I had heard pretty good reviews. It was definitely the weakest of the signatures we tried.

Thanks for the report on Narcoossee's---I've even thought I'd like to eat there at some point. Don't you just love it when someone is all attitude, when they think they're right (like your waitress with the drink), and then when it's proven that ...aha- You were right and they were wrong!

Glad you got to meet up with your parents and enjoy dinner together. They're such a cute couple.

No surprise with how she started out, but she never apologized for the error. Her attitude did change though, she started being much friendlier. Who knows, maybe she was dealing with some difficult diners that night :confused3

Yeah, my boys wouldn't be proper young men I'm sure!

When you have the dining plan, it's easy to forget that you are still paying for that food but yes, there was no reason for her to act that way!

So did Shelby give your snotty waitress the "I told you so" look when she came back with the right drink? I would have been very tempted to

I think shelby just let the drink do the speaking for her. The waitress had to have known she was wrong when the bartender handed over that second drink.

I'm getting anxious for that phone to ring!!

:welcome: Glad to have you along! I really enjoyed CSR, very beautiful and relaxing!

The location of Narcoossees is great and really, the meal wasn't all bad. But it paled in comparison to Cali Grill and I really enjoyed Jiko too!

Have you heard anything good about Victoria and Albert's?

Glad to help you out! I can only think of one person I've read review V&A, that was Circusgirl. Do any ohter readers happen to know which trip she visited? I remember thinking I wouldn't want to eat there until I read about her meal, she loved it!

Your parents are just adorable!

Your dessert looks heavenly!

Yeah, they are pretty cute! That cheesecake was the best dessert of the entire trip!

Great update....you have me re-thinking our Narcoosee's ADR in September....hmmm, gonna have to think about that now:confused3

I would hate to be the reason anyone didn't try something but if that night is typical, I think there are better options. It could have been an off night though, who knows :confused3

Sorry you were not overwhelemed with your dinner at Narcoosee's. The more reviews I see of this place, people either love it or think it "eh." Your pictures of your folks and the GF are great.

I was mostly bummed that this was the meal my parents paid so much for (even splitting an appetizer and entree, it wasn't cheap) when I had much better meals on the trip. We did treat them to food the next day that I know they thought was much better.

What a disappointment about your meal. We tried there in 2007 after a recommendation I read on the DIS. We loved it, but I guess things have changed since then. :confused3

Hope your phone rings soon! :yay:

Have you heard anything good about Victoria and Albert's?

Katie, have you ever read any of Brenda's (oybolshoi) dining reviews here on the DIS? She has done at least two that I can think of that include V&A. Her reports are a lot of fun to read. If you need help finding them, let me know.

I've always heard good things which is why it was kind of a bummer. Honestly, the crab cakes, cheese plate and desserts were outstanding but the entrees and service kind of stuck in my craw...you know?

I've seen that username around but no, I've never read any of her reviews. Maybe you can help out Katie (or maybe that's who this post was directed toward :rolleyes1)

Any word yet? Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!

Thanks for the good thoughts Michelle

***************************

Well, Denise promises I'm not a reject but I am bummed to report that I got a call this morning and was told someone else has already accepted their job offer. There is one more possibility out there right now, a nearby school looking for a part-time middle school science teacher. I will be anxious to hear who got the job because I suspect I have lost another position to an inexperienced teacher who will cost less. Hopefully that will be less of an issue with this other position because it is at an indian settlement with plenty of casino money to support their school!

So sorry to hear that, Katie. I remember when you first spoke of the opportunity on the Indian settlement and thought at the time it sounded really cool so maybe that is a sign! :confused3 I have been told I'm psychic. :upsidedow

Something will definitely come along. I can tell you're a great teacher. I would have loved to have someone who made Science fun.

Hang in there!! :goodvibes

Awww Katie....I hope this other job comes through for you....something good will be coming your way I just know it

Your parents are adorable.....I love the picture of them standing next to the old car :goodvibes
I remember you saying how good the cheese was at Narcosse's....that is funny because that is all I remember you saying about the meal!!! I guess you really were underwhelmed!! I :lovestruc cheese!! Yeesh...what a snotty waitress!! :sad2:
