Where did this heat and all these people come from? The new PTR/TR link 5/7

Well, Denise promises I'm not a reject but I am bummed to report that I got a call this morning and was told someone else has already accepted their job offer. There is one more possibility out there right now, a nearby school looking for a part-time middle school science teacher. I will be anxious to hear who got the job because I suspect I have lost another position to an inexperienced teacher who will cost less. Hopefully that will be less of an issue with this other position because it is at an indian settlement with plenty of casino money to support their school!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that......best of luck on something better coming along

I'm sorry Katie

Keep your chin up, something will come along!

thanks Michelle!

So sorry to hear that, Katie. I remember when you first spoke of the opportunity on the Indian settlement and thought at the time it sounded really cool so maybe that is a sign! :confused3 I have been told I'm psychic. :upsidedow

Something will definitely come along. I can tell you're a great teacher. I would have loved to have someone who made Science fun.

Hang in there!! :goodvibes

Thanks C, I'm feeling more optimistic today!

I'm so sorry about the job. I hope the position with the Indian settlement works out. :goodvibes

thanks Denise!

I'm so sorry Katie. I hope this other middle school job comes through for you. :grouphug:

Thanks LL!

Awww Katie....I hope this other job comes through for you....something good will be coming your way I just know it

Your parents are adorable.....I love the picture of them standing next to the old car :goodvibes
I remember you saying how good the cheese was at Narcosse's....that is funny because that is all I remember you saying about the meal!!! I guess you really were underwhelmed!! I :lovestruc cheese!! Yeesh...what a snotty waitress!! :sad2:

Tracy

Thanks Tracy. That's funny that the cheese plate is all I made a point to comment on :rotfl: (I DO love cheese! I belive all food can be improved by adding either cheese or chocolate!)

So sorry about the Job, hopefully the next one comes through for you.

Thanks so much Danielle!

Sorry to hear about the job!

Thanks Janell!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that......best of luck on something better coming along

I appreciate it Donna!

I am feeling a bit better today on the job front. I was getting concerned that I hadn't heard anything from the indian settlement because the application deadline was 2 weeks ago so I e-mailed the superintendent and high school principal (both who previously worked with DH at the high school in the town where we live) and I got a phone call in response letting me know they have not gotten to the selection yet but I should hear from them next week about setting up an interview. Keep the prayers and good thoughts coming please!!!!

So sorry to hear about the job! But, I'm glad to hear there is still one on the horizon!!!! I'll be praying.

Thanks for the review from Narcoossee's and all the great pics Katie! It was so nice you were able to dine with your parents too! I LOVE looking at pics from the Grand Floridian!! It's so "grand"!!:goodvibes Sorry to hear about not getting that job, I hope the other opportunity works for you!!!! Good thoughts coming your way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crossing my fingers for you about the job!!!:) That must be so stressful and frustrating if in fact lesser qualified people are getting hired over you!:guilty: Hopefully very good news will soon be coming your way!!!:)

How great that you could share a meal with your parents.:goodvibes I am sorry that Narcoossees didn't knock the socks off you - at those prices, it should have!

Our dinner at Narcooses was one of the highlights of our trip. Not sure if it was due to a completely different experience, or different tastes, but it was likely a bit of both. Our server there was an absolute doll - he is one of only a small number of cast members who has been with WDW since Opening Day in 1971!!!:worship:

As a matter of fact, we so enjoyed our meal and experience at Narcoossees that night that I am sure if the GF had DVC units I could have gotten my Disney-resistant husband to buy one right there on the spot!:rotfl:

Perhaps I missed this, but were your parents overnighting in WDW to join you in Epcot the next day with their Give A Day passes?:confused3

Oh, and meant to say....I ADORE that photo of your parents with the car. That should be framed!;)

thanks Brook! BTW, I got a big kick out of your pictures of the China "cakes" on the food porn thread :rotfl2:

It was fun having dinner with my parents but I felt bad that the least impressive of the signature dining we tried was the one they joined us for. It was a bit of a push to get them to pay that kind of money for food and that experience won't make them do it again anytime soon.

I'd read so many great things about Narcoossee's and I worked really hard to get that ADR. Honestly, the appetizers and desserts were fantastic, some of the best of the trip, but the rest was a disappointment. How cool to meet someone with such a WDW history!

Yes, my parents came for 2 nights offsite to use their give a day tickets while we were there. it was fun to have them join us for a day!

Day 4

Tuesday arrived with us looking forward to EMH’s at Epcot. I think this was the morning that we waited an unusually long time for the bus. In fact, I overhead someone who got on at the last CSR stop say she wasn’t able to get on the previous bus because it was full, then waited over 20 minutes for that one. It was almost 8:30 by the time we walked into the gates and got our first sight of the flower and garden festival

I had a goal for this morning and that was to head over this way

florida2010413.jpg

But I didn’t know which side I was going to do until I got there. I walked up to where the CM’s hand out the cards and found myself saying “I’m going to try the orange side” I wasn’t sure if this was the right choice or not because I do have motion issues sometimes but I figured riding before eating anything would be the best choice. The ride was basically a walk-on and ended up being a surprise because the g-forces didn’t bother me one bit, in fact I kind of enjoyed it. It was the simulation of the landing that made me queasy and I think that part was the same as the green side. I’m glad I tried it but I don’t know that I will be running back to it next time.

When I finished my mission, I found Shelby waiting for me (she had NO desire to try the ride) and I got a call from Mom and Dad who were at the ticket booth cashing in their give-a-day vouchers. We agreed to meet at the fountain and I stopped to admire this topiary along the way

It was now 9:00 and Soarin was our priority so we headed toward the land.

florida2010421-1.jpg

Stand-by was 45 minutes and the fastpass return time was also 45 minutes so of course we grabbed FP’s. At this point Shelby was asking if we could stop and get some breakfast. I have to admit, I was maybe not very considerate about her breakfast needs. I’m not a breakfast eater, in fact, I get nauseated at the thought of food first thing in the morning (I think this may have been part of my problem at CP the previous morning) and taking valuable touring time to eat just seems wrong! But Shelby is a breakfast eater so we stopped

Then we went on a boat ride.

And got to see 2 of the most important crops

I took this picture for Patrick because we recently had a conversation about where cotton comes from and he hadn’t realized it was a plant.

I find their alternative growing systems so fascinating

Dad is a retired agronomist (soils specifically but in the context of growing crops) so he loved this ride all over again. Mom loves to garden and missed this due to getting sick on our 2008 trip so this was her first ride and she also loved it.

At the end there is a sign that advertises the behind the seeds tour and they both commented that they thought that would be a lot of fun so I have promised that if they end up returning to Disney next winter (a possibility they have been discussing with my Mom’s sisters who live near them in Florida), that we will purchase them tickets to the tour for Christmas. I really hope they do it!

Ugggg, Mission Space  It is the simulation that makes me sick as well - I tried it once and will never try it again!

That picture of the dessert case at Sunshine Seasons is making me hungry, yum!

I think your parents would love the Behind the Seeds tour, I hope it works out and they can go :thumbsup2

First, I am sending you hugs & good thoughts for a job.

Your Epcot morning looks like fun!! I remeber the first time we rode Mussion Space; I was positive my cousin was going to get sick, I spent most of the ride trying to see what I could re-purpose into a barf bag!! :)

Great update, Katie. Love the pictures of the F&G and the Land. I'm with you and Michelle--once was enough on Mission for me. Mark insisted I would love it. My face was not it's natural color for at least four hours after I rode that ride. :scared1:

Great update!! I love the Land ride at Epcot!!! Such a peaceful but educational ride!!! Glad you were able to spend some time with your parents!! That is awesome!!!!

Thinking of you and the reservation job, will be doing lots of prayer for you!!!

Enjoyed your update. I didn't do Living with the Land last year but will this time. So nice that your parents came.

I have only done the green side of MS and even that I will never do again. Too claustrophobic for me.

I never tire of pictures of those beautiful F&G topiaries! I really need to make it down there for a festival other than food and wine... :rolleyes1

Glad you are more optimistic on the job front. Good thoughts are headed your way! :wizard:

I'm not really a huge breakfast eater either. I can usually last on just coffee until lunchtime or so. And it sort of feels like wasted park time to me so I would have been the same way as you Katie. Her breakfast does look very yummy though!

We held off on Mission Space for a long time on our last trip because I get very motion sick and I didn't think the kids would enjoy it. Well, the Dramamine worked and the kids loved it. It's neat when rides surprise you in a good way. :)

You parents are adorable. I'm glad they enjoyed the ride so much!!

Good luck on this other job opportunity Katie. It's hard to wait and wonder why you weren't chosen. I hope you nail this next interview!

I am very proud of you, Katie, for trying the orange side of Mission:Space! I will continue to skip that ride, though. ;)

We have lots of cotton here in Georgia -- I could send you some if you want -- my dad grows it for fun in his garden, and we have a bunch from last year. Then, Patrick could see what it looks like up close and personal.

Your latest installment made me wonder whether I should give Mission Space another shot. It's one of very few rides to make me feel sick, but maybe I should try again. Hmmm.....

I also enjoyed your shots of the pastry case at Sunshine Seasons. I love that place :)

Great Update! I love the Land, we did the Behind the Seeds and it was very interesting. There are pics in my TR below (probably on the 1st page, it's not that long). I have never done Mission Space, I didn't want to go on it by myself and DH wanted nothing to do with it, I guess I'll have to wait till another trip with more people...

I did the orange side once - and yep, it was enough!

The Behind the Seeds tour sounds so interesting, both Joe and I want to do it sometime and we aren't "garden" people - I bet your folks would love every minute of it! What a very good idea for a Christmas gift!

Gosh! I've been MIA and missed out hearing the outcome of you job. So sorry to read that.

Your update on Epcot so far is great and I love the fact that you went on the orange side...I did this in 2005 and wasn't brave enough to go back for a second time this time round.

Great food porn and the live food porn shots are excellent too :thumbsup2
