Hey there,

I was wondering who else out there is going to wdw whilst pregnant?

Whether you booked it whilst pregnant, or found out you were expecting AFTER you booked like me, haha.

We ( hubby Luke and Daughter Scarlet 2 1/2) are booked to go on August 20th for 2 wks, staying at the Beach Club, with my parents, my brother and sister and my MIL and BIL!

We just found out last week that I am pregnant (there goes the bikini diet!!!)
and I will be around 25 wks by then.

I am a bit gutted about the rides, although I'll get over it, I am mroe excited than anything.

I know there are a couple of pregnancy threads around here but none too long, I wondered who else is planning a trip with bump and how are you planning for it etc.

Any tips, advice, questions and shared excitement in general :)

Take Care :goodvibes

I've been twice while pregnant. Once while I didn't even know it (rode ALL the rides AND drank, DS turned out fine! :lmao:) and once at 14 weeks.

I'm at 28 weeks now and if I were to go to WDW now I'd say rest as much as you can. Don't push yourself to do park commando. Heaven knows I wouldn't make it and I can usually do rope drop to close and STILL have some left over! Sit and rest when you get a chance; don't let yourself get tired out. I've already got "The Waddle" due to the fact that DD is sitting SO LOW and already pressing on my pelvis so walking long distances sounds a little unpleasant for me.

Also, take plenty of opportunities to eat. I'm ruled by my stomach anyway and get super grumpy and unpleasant when I'm hungry. Add a pregnancy appetite to that and you've got a recipe for a park meltdown! :scared1: Snack often, drink plenty of water. Book plenty of buffets!! :rotfl:

DON'T push yourself to do it all. It was kind of nice to sit on a bench and people watch while everyone else went on a ride. I enjoyed that quiet time!

i went at about 28 weeks preggo this year. you can do it. My advice:

Keep drinking water throughout the day...this will cause more bathroom trips but you dont want to get dehydrated.

Wear comfortable shoes since you will be carrying a lot more weight at that point.

Bring snacks for the park.

Slow going rides are a blessing...i didnt feel like I missed out by not going on space mountain and such.

Take a rest break in the middle of the day, even if you dont go back to the hotel. When we went, DS 2, fell asleep in the stroller in the middle of the day and DH and I took that opportunity to go down to the rose garden in magic kingdom that over looks the water....very deserted and surprisingly quiet. Felt good just to prop my feet up for an hour.

Do what you can, dont feel bad about missing out. It will be a different experience, but it can still be a good one.

Also dont forget to check out baby items at the disney stores while you are there!;)

We are leaving Saturday and I will be 21 weeks. I am bummed that I will be missing ToT and Splash but I know that I will have a ball riding everything with my DD. I am already planning on drinking a ton of water and I went out last week and bought new Crocs. I plan on taking full advantage of buffets but at the same time, I am planning on taking a few snacks into the park with me. I'm not snacking much here at home but I want to be prepared and not broke in DW. I figure I will spend more time in the pools than I have before but that's okay too because that is one of DDs favorite parks. Seriously, I am thinking that just taking a toddler along will slow me down enough to make it through the week. We went commando when our middle child was 4 but I took DD in December (didn't know I was pregnant then so technically this baby has already done ToT :rolleyes1) and commando is definitely a thing of the past. I'm pretty excited that we have GAD vouchers that we will be turning in for fastpasses and I will be able to share mine with the older kids.

I will be 29 weeks pregnant when we are there next week. I've been to Disney alot so I'm not too upset about missing out on rides, but I am kind of concerned about my stamina. I am usually a park open to close kind of person. I have noticed my energy level is low here at home. Sometimes I get winded walking to the car from my office (3 blocks). I have put on 20 lbs, which is obviously more difficult to carry around. I'm hoping my DH and I will have a good time as this will be our last Disney trip without a kid :)

thanks for all the advice you guys.

I will find out how many weeks I will be at my first scan in 2 weeks :woohoo:

I am planning to take it easier than usual (we go almost every year and wished we lived closer to go more often)
but my mother in law and brother in law have never been before and we are taking them as a surprise treat. so we will have to do EVERYTHING, ill just have to take it slower.

The man thing I am bummed about missing...DISNEY MARGARITAS!
and the cava de tequila......oh every year me and my mum look forward to those margaritas they are the best.......aaaahhh well.

I will however be treating myself to all those snacks from every stand around epcot that I usually restrict myself on (usually try to eat quite good still on holiday....oh how thats gonna go out the window)
Im eating good now till August so I can put on ALL my baby weight at disney

Are there any things/clothing/products you ladies found particuarly helpful?
I suffer with aching legs and knees very badly, got quite bad varicose veins with last pregnancy that never went away. Worried about that bothering me in disney...

I went around 25 weeks and will go this year around 28. Drink plenty of water, rest when you can, enjoy the pool :)

One thing I found was the heaviness of the food started to bother me. While I tried to behave while eating during my pregnancy...when I was at Disney I was not going to say no to ice cream and fries and other goodies. I found myself at one point needing something fresh and "real" which is hard at the parks. Finally end up at the market on the road over to TOT and bought a pile of oranges...tasted so good after all the crap I had eaten. I focused the rest of the week on making sure I ate as light as possible so I didn't feel weighed down.

I'll be 27 weeks when we go in August. I'm mostly worried about the heat so we plan to take it nice and easy. Bummed about Space Mountain but I know we'll be back so no biggie. We are doing the condo thing at Bonnet Creek to have some more space and a kitchen--plan to have lots of fruit on hand. Looking forward to spending quality time in the lazy river, lol. My husband will have to keep up w/our 5yo, we are looking forward to giving him a last hoorah before kindergarten and big brotherhood.
We thought this would never happen so are extra thrilled and willing to make any necessary concessions.
OP--drink lots before your flight and move around as much as you can--that's a long one! Have a great time and congrats!!!!

I'll be going in June and I'll be 20 weeks. Hopefully I won't be too big, I'm just worried about the heat. This is a last minute planned trip - we just decided this week we were going. We were there in January and it was brutual cold. I guess we're going to get the other extreme of brutual hot. This is a short trip - we're actually attending a conference there, but will hit the parks in the afternoon/evening. I'm also sad I won't get to have any margaritas! I don't care about the rides so much. I just plan on trying to stay as cool as possible. I know I will enjoy some Mickey ice cream everyday! Hopefully we'll get to take my 2 yr old on Dumbo - it's her favorite!
Bring on the buffets!!

I did WDW pregnant, probably around the same point in my pregnancy as you too. The big rule is KEEP HYDRATED!!!! You should never feel thirsty, constantly try and sip from a water bottle. If you need a break, go to one of the baby centers and take a rest in the A/C, or in a restaurant. Remember, if you're hot, baby is too, so try and stay as cool as you can.

Take care and have a safe trip! Oh, and CONGRATS on the baby on the way!!!

Hi there!

We wont be going this year pregnant (well hopefully not! LOL) but our first WDW I was around 19 weeks with our dd.

I still did rides at disney, just not the "hard core" rides which were 40" and up. :lmao:. You can do its a small world, haunted mansion (it was fine for me), probably peter pan, winnie the pooh, snow white, probably even aladin's carpets. I LOVED the safari ride at disney, pretty awesome. I saw some people said not to ride it pregnant because of the jerking, but ours was fine. No jerking what so ever.

Big thing.. SHOES! Pack GOOD shoes. Running shoes, walking shoes. Something to help cushion your feet with the extra weight. Also make sure to keep up your water, and protein for energy. Also make sure to eat some bananas. The potassium is good to ward off cramps/charlie horses.. especially in the leg.

I agree about packing snacks.. so lots of small meals. Lots of water. Rest when you can.

We went in Oct.. I made sure to pack a lot of loose shirts and skirts. Very thin material so that I wouldn't get too high. No dark colors. Hope that helps!

I went at about 30 weeks pregnant and we still had a great time...Drink lots of water like everyone else said and don't be afraid to stop and rest your feet there are plenty of places to do that...We went back the following year my son had just turned 1 and it was a big joke how daddy had to carry him this time since mommy carried him around disney last time...One other trick that works for us that other people do the opposite of it helped me to sleep in and not rush around in the mornings we would have a late breakfast and let my other children hang out in the pool then go out to the parks later in the day just the idea of not trying to beat the crowds early in the morning helped me when I wasn't feeling like moving so quickly...Enjoy!!!

I'll be 18 weeks when we go next month, and hopefully I won't be too much slower than I usually am. We went when I was around 25 weeks pg with DD, and the boys were 3.5 & almost 2. I remember resting more frequently, but it wasn't bad. Of course there are a few rides that I won't be able to do, but I don't mind. We go often enough that I don't feel like I'm really missing much.

One question - would you/will you do the Kali River Rapids while pg? I didn't do it when I was pg last time, but it was Thanksgiving & the weather was icky. I'm thinking it would be ok.

What rides are OK to ride in early pregnancy? any suggestions?

great thread! I too will be pregnant (first time!) on my next trip to Disney.. we're going early October and I think I will be somewhere between 16-18 weeks when we go. I'm hoping that I'll be good on the stamina front and won't be too big by then so it's a perfect time to go. I am going to miss the big rides though but I'm sort of looking forward to a more relaxed, slower trip this time.

There is a GREAT podcast that touches on going to the parks pregnant, which is not something that people talk about much on podcasts.. you can listen to it here: mouse travel tips: http://mousetraveltips.com/2010/05/...on-impressions-de-france-les-chefs-de-france/

the host mainly gives these tips:

stay hydrated
relax and take it slow
bring snacks and use cell phone apps to figure out where you want to eat
wear supportive shoes
take pictures of the belly (! can't wait) and shop for baby stuff (!)
take advantage of air conditioned attractions and things where you sit down
go back to your room for a rest or swim
and more that I can't remember off hand!

good luck ladies!!! I for one am really excited that I'm getting to do disney pregnant.. we didn't plan it but it just worked out that way!

Also dont forget to check out baby items at the disney stores while you are there!;)

I think this is what I'm most excited about! Can't wait to spend a lot of time in the shops! BTW, how far along do you have to be usually to find out the sex of the baby? I"m hoping we can know before we go to Disney so I can buy appropriate stuff, but if not I guess I can always get gender neutral things!

I was about 20 weeks when i found out the sex of the baby. My mom was actually at a conference in California when I found out and when I told her she ran over to Disneyland and bought a pink princess blanket.
We went to disneyworld right before I found out the sex and we got the softest teddy bear "my first disney bear" which was gender neutral. Shopping was definitely the best part about being pregnant while at WDW.

My advice is rest a lot, drink a lot, eat a lot. It shouldn't be too hard because you're going with a 2.5 year old, so basically do whatever they want to do! I didn't feel as though I was missing out on anything because we've been there before and will be back again, so the few rides I couldn't do would just have to wait. I also took naps in the afternoon.

I will be going in September at 31 weeks. We are super excited to give DD one last trip as an only child - in fact if it weren't for my desire to do that I would have definitely skipped this year (even though I want to go too). She will be 7 when the baby is born so this will definitely be lifechanging for her :) My plan is to let DD and DH do all the big stuff as usual and rest then. I will hopefully get to find out gender next week (I am so excited) so will definitely be doing some shopping. Other than that - lots of rest, lots of water, and lots of pool time....which as has already been mentioned is one of DD's favorite things anyway. I went when I was pregnant with DD the same week of pregnancy and that was a fantastic trip. Even though I'm 7 years older too I'm not worried.

I am going in 6 weeks and I will be 31 weeks by then. The advice from my OB was drink water and spend afternoons at the poole. I have been twice while pregnant, once at 5 months and then this January, when my morning sickness began, signaling that I needed to have a test delivered to the Beach Club!!!

Anyway, thank goodness that Walt thinks ahead because it is easy to find air conditioned spots to rest! I have also found that there are healthier options every year so that the "heavy" food doesn't hurt so bad! Additionally, they sell Tums at most of the stores :rotfl:

Have fun!

We were scheduled for a big 10th anniversary trip this October - ending with a 3 day cruise on the Disney Wonder. But we just found out #3 is on the way and I'll be past the 24 week cut off by October. We're either going to move the cruise to September or wait until October 2011 and celebrate our 11th Anniversary instead. Either way we'll move the WDW trip to September. That will put me at about 22 weeks. My only concern is my 6 yo. He has his heart set on riding Everest, Splash Mtn and ToT as soon as we get there - he's my partner in crime - Daddy doesn't do any rides with a big drop!! I think I can talk him into Splash or Everest, but I doubt I'll convince him to do ToT!! Either way, we are very excited :cloud9: and I am looking forward to shopping for the baby while we're there!!:cool1:

Last year we ordered from garden grocer and took water, gatorade, grapes and apples to the parks with us in a backpack cooler. They were so refreshing during the hottest part of the day! We will definitely do that again. I'm also thinking about a camelbak so that I have water available constantly throughout the trip.

Good luck and congratulations to everyone!!

We're going August 28-Sept 5th and i'll be about 15 weeks by then. Just found out! So thanks for the great post. Just hoping I won't be too tired to make it around the parks. but this'll be the 'last only child vacation' for our baby boy :)
