Real Crocs Vs. Fakes

Are real crocs worth the money? I got youngest DS a pair of fakes at Gordmans for $5 and stride-rite has some for the other three kids for $10. But, I worry about them not being as comfortable as real ones and that they might hurt the kids' feet after so much walking. Are real crocs that much more comfortable than fake ones? I can get all of the kids fake crocs for the cost of one pair of real crocs. Worth the savings? I don't have a lot of experience with this type of shoe (as we would not wear them normally,) but I heard they are good for the parks.

My dd wears "real" Crocs brand crocs all the time, in fact when she was 6 they were the only shoe she would wear even in the frigid NY cold winter! She never had a blister, rub mark etc. A friend bought her a pair of fake crocs and after an hour playing she had huge blisters/rub marks (like burns) all over her feet. We went back to the regular crocs brand and have never had a problem. Tried the fake ones again and same issue.

Real crocs are made of a special material that is patented, they aren't just rubber, so I think that makes a difference. I wear my real crocs mary janes all the time with no probs either. I would get the real ones. You can get good deals on crocs.com all the time.

I bought some fakes from Wal-mart and Avon. The ones from Wal-mart were okay, but the ones from Avon worked out great for me at the parks last year. I have real ones this year and there is no great difference from the Avon shoes. I taking both pairs this year.

The one time I wore Crocs to the parks, I ended up with horrendous blisters on the soles of my feet. And of course it was the first day of our vacation, so my feet were a mess the whole time. :scared1: So even Crocs brand can cause problems!

I personally recommend standard athletic shoes for the parks, instead of Crocs, if that is what you are looking at them for.

(And yes, my Crocs were well broken in before I went to WDW, there was just something about the amount of walking that caused the problem to show up!)

I had the exact opposite happen to me - I wore my well broken in but still supportive sneakers and YOWZER!! The worst blister problem I have ever had...it was so bad I was in tears! Blisters on the bottoms of my feet, bottoms of toes, instep and even on my heel!!! I was miserable. Next trip I wore my crocs and have only worn them into the parks ever since and no problems whatsoever. It seems different for everyone!

Have you looked at the crocs outlet online or store? you really can get excellent deals on real crocs!!

Really, it all depends on the individual fake or "croc-off". Some are the same in quality and others aren't. My DS got some at our local dollar store($3) and they held up really well. And if you think they are made of some special material in the croc factory in China that the other factories there aren't using, I've got news for you. ;)

Go to the outlet if you have one near you. I have gotten multiple $5 crocs for me and DH. The kid ones usually go for $10 on clearance. Worth the trip.

I've got some Wally World fakes that I use at work. They took forever to break in, but once they did they are great. My real Crocs were bought based on the particular style I was looking for, or an unbeatable deal I got on them.

Depends on the shoe; some knock offs are good, others are not. FWIW, my DW loves the Airwalk branded knock offs. But with Crocs, we have pretty much always been pleased after the purchase.

I finally broke down and ordered a couple of pairs of Crocs through a link for a bargain on the DIS.

They arrived today and they are HORRIBLE. They are HUGE and my feet are very wide for a woman's feet. I ordered two different pairs and they are both going back pronto. I took about five steps on our wood floor and caught my toe and about ate the floor.

Nope, Crocs are not for me.... and I don't plan on trying any of the knock-offs anytime soon!

I found that the fake ones I had were fine. I bought some at Sears and the others were Gekkos brand. This year I found Holeys at Liquidation World for $4.88, they seem softer/more flexable and they have a textured sole that looks like it will be better on wet surfaces compared to the Croc brand.

I bought 3 pairs for this summer and my trip in October.

I think the Crocs brand are wider than most of the fake ones. You need to try them on. There should be room around the edge of your foot is what I have been told. I also heard that you should wear socks with them.

I know some people can't stand wearing socks with them, but I almost always wear socks with them. I only got blisters with them last year when I didn't check the bottom before packing and I had almost worn through them in one spot. Won't happen this year! I have 3 new pairs that I will break in a little and pack 2.

My niece also wore fake/other brand of Crocs and she didn't get any blisters.

I wouldn't buy children the Croc brand unless you can get them at a good deal. They grow fast and it gets expensive. If however you can pass them down to the next child the following year then it might be worth the cost.

This is just my opinion from experience but nothing comes even close to comparing to Crocs when compared to the copies out there. We have tried the crocks:lmao:(get it?) and they were uncomfortable and most left your feet the same color as the shoe. Plus they don't last as long as the real thing.

Seriously, if you want Crocs do yourself a favor and buy Crocs.

As an avid Croc fan, if these were the Prepair Clogs for $14.99 free ship, I agree. I got the clogs and they are horrible in sizing. They look like boats on my feet, even though my other Crocs fit great. Now I know why they were on sale. I will say the Prepair flip flops were a good deal though.

If you are going to get genuine Crocs, the Classic or Beach are the best for IMO. For the ladies, I know the Mary Jane's are popular, but DW did not care for hers.

Keep in mind, Crocs are sized that way for a reason on clogs. The whole point is for your foot to not be touching the sides or top when standing still.

It takes some getting used to but not long.

I ordered those Prepair clogs and slips and am not very fond of them. They are a great value but I am so used to the standard Croc feel that these just don't feel right at all. The surface nubs are non existent and the inside of the footbed also feels slick as opposed to stable on a bare foot.

I think it's worth it to get the real thing. My favorites are Malindi and Cleo. The Malindis are cut closer to the foot, and I can wear them to work. The cleos are the most comfortable sandal I have ever owned, and I actually wore out a pair.

If you like crocs, I'd say stay away from the sketchers version of them too. DD complains about "sticky feet" when she wears them. Luckily I have several crocs on reserve (I have a little bit of an addiction for little crocs) and I've tossed those sketcher ones in the yard sale pile.

I agree,my daughter used to wear crocs a lot, we got the Skechers...after just wearing them a few hours, with no heavy duty walking...awful blistery sores on the side of her foot. She actually does better with the fake crocs,as the real crocs break so easy...she has broken several pairs at the strap area that goes around the button that the strap moves on.My oldest daughter loves the real crocs Mary Janes. My sister swears by them, and she has horrible back problems.
