Three weeks from today I will be at Beach Club!!!!!!!!!! Staying there for a work convention and planning on some resort and park time in the evenings. This will be my first WDW trip without my family so it will be bittersweet, but at least I will be at WDW and my favorite resort area!
Teena, what do you think my chances are of getting back side of resort room with a convention rate?

I stayed at YC for a work convention in April and DH and I were upgraded to a room with a view of the quiet pool. We were quite far from the lobby but loved the lovely view and the full balcony. We used a back staircase to get outside without going through the lobby. Since we had no children or strollers, it was perfectly convenient. We were only there 2 nights and I hadn't made any requests.

the kids will be thrilled that the pool is open with our check in coming up!

can't even wait now... this week needs to fly by

Wow Teena - that is great about your cruise!! What a hubby you have!
Do you think you'll be at work on Sunday 8/1?? That's our check out day and I sure hope to get to meet you. If not, well I'll just have to book another stay at BC!!! DH just said this morning that it will be so hard to leave and not have another trip to WDW planned or booked!!! I think that's approval to book a bounce back, don't you?

I am making my way through reading this entire thread......whew! Still have a ways to go but I need to ask a few quick questions. I apologize if I'm going to run into the answers from page 57 on.

What is GAD?

What is AP holder?

What is TIW card?

I've gathered that HC are handicapped-accessible rooms. Is that correct? We will be staying BC standard-view 8/3-8/12. 2 ressies. Nana & Papa in one, me/dd13/ds10/ds6 in the other. Nana uses a walker to get around the room and a scooter(?) everywhere else. Does she qualify for a HC room? Which room numbers are those? I read that it can possibly be booked ahead?

We stayed at BC last year.....LOVE IT! We had connecting rooms. I think 2544 and 2546 or something close to that. It was really nice since it's just me with the three kids. Anyhow, how many of the standard-view rooms are connected? Does anyone (Teena?) know which room combinations those are? Do any HC rooms connect with another room?

TIA!!!

Back to reading.....

If your mom needs a bathroom with handrails or a roll in shower (or it would help) call Resort Special Reeds at 401-939-7807, option #1. Have your reservation numbers handy and explain her situation with the walker - they will be sure your mom gets a room to meet her needs and a connecting room for the rest of the family. Hope this helps! :goodvibes

AP = Annual Pass
TIW = a dining card an Annual Pass holder may purchase which gives them a discount on dining.

Yep, I'll be there!!
That sounds like a definite okay to me to book a bounce back!!!

50/50 chance.

One question on room requests -- I've tried to read through this thread and from what I can gather with my standard view room I could be safe requesting 2nd floor full balcony to help avoid some of the worst views? Is that right? I'm not overly concerned about the views but if its just a phone call and a request that could help improve it somewhat, why not?

Look forward to being a part of this thread!! Thanks for everyone's insights.

Julie

You've got it right about second floor! See you in October!

Teena I didn't realize you were formerly from PA. My DH grew up in Bloomsburg...I recognize the New Cumberland name - they are close arne't they? We are in western pa now....

Yep, New Cumberland is near Harrisburg ... central PA.

I'd be interested to hear people's views on this one.

To cut a very long story short for my May 2010 trip I'd originally booked a split BC/YC CL stay (stayed at YC before, loved it, never tried BC before and wanted to try), I then changed it back to the BWI CL as stayed there before and it's my favourite. I had a fantastic trip this year, one that I really don't think I could top by returning to the BWI next year - I had such an amazing room, if I didn't get that room again I'd be disappointed, so I have booked to go back to the YC (LVC) where I know I'd get a good view as I've chosen a water view CL.

However, I took a little tour of the BC CL whilst I was there and the new rooms are beautiful, the lounge looks lovely but quite small which made me think it might not be so great to relax in, although I appreciate the YC lounge is quite small too, also the CL floor seemed to go on forever which also made me think it's very busy up there.

I've booked for the first week of December 2011 (through my agent in the UK - she's used to me tweaking so if she reads this thread I'm not too concerned lol), but am now thinking, from the YC/BC experts, what is the general consenus of the best resort for my circumstances - solo (adult) female.

Any recommendations?

Thanks :goodvibes

My point exactly clare in not returning to BWI next month. I feel I would be disappointed as there is no way it could match up to my last year's experience. from the research I did, i think yc is much more your style and speed (it is for me!). Fewer kids - by far. Very adult themed. No noisy lobby for Cape May breakfast....I know they expanded the BC Lounge but really I look at it like those rooms are full of families whereas the rooms at the YC might have conventioneers in them but they don't pack 5 to a room for a convention. I called the IPO office and was debating BC YC a few months ago and they explained it quite well. BC much more lively, more noisy, more family friendly. Well I don't like noise and YC seemed like the perfect choice. It gets rave reviews over the YC/BC thread...

Hi Teena! Yes, we do have great corn and tomatoes here...the best IMHO!! But you don't have Tastycakes down there?!?! My family enjoys them too.

Concrats on the cruise...looking forward to our first stay at BC and seeing you in August!

The only Tastycakes I can find here in Florida is the peanut butter tandycakes (which Bob likes but I don't), the butterscotch (not a fan), sometimes the jelly krimpets (they're good but not my favorites) and once in a great while the chocolate cupcakes. My favorites are the chocolate juniors, coconut juniors and chocolate tandycakes and of course you can never ever find them here.

another point to consider, BC rooms DO NOT all have a sitting balcony if that is important to you.....

Hope you don't visit YC when my family is there :scared: :dance3:

I was told Friday from IPO that there are a few rooms on YC CL that are standing balconies, not technically 'full'.

Finally, a last option for when we arrive is to try and catch the 2nd Fantasmic show at 10:30pm. The schedule for HS shows it closing at 10pm. Can anyone tell me how that works? I assume the boats would still be running if we tried to do that?

Do yourself a favor and forget about trying to catch Fantasmic on your 1st night ;)

It's a fun show but nothing worth starting your trip exhausted!

Hi everyone I am new to this thread and resort. We have a couple of days planned here this summer. Since we have never stayed before I wondered if anyone had pictures of the 2 bedroom rooms? We are really excited to experience Beach Club.:thumbsup2

Sorry I'm going to miss you! Sure hope you have a super time and enjoy our wonderful resort! I see you're from my neck of the woods. We moved here over six years ago from New Cumberland (Harrisburg area). Can't say I miss it except for the tomatoes and corn. We haven't had decent corn and tomatoes since moving here except when some of my Jersey and Pennsy guests that drive and come in July, August and September bring me some and then Bob and I fight over them. We eat the tomatoes like apples ... oh how I miss them!!! The other thing we miss (besides Tastycakes) is Hanover frozen veggies. Can't buy them here either. So this summer while eating your corn and tomatoes, think of Bob and me!!

Teena - we are coming to see you soon from the 'Burgh (arrive June 3 - counting the days now)! I would be so happy to bring you some Tastycakes if you let me know what kind you like. Believe it or not, we have a relative in San Francisco who wants us to bring Isaly's chipped chopped ham (personally, that's one thing I've never really craved), so it will be no big deal to throw a box or two of snacks into our bag. Seriously, let me know! If we were coming later I'd bring you some big boy tomatoes from my garden.

Are you talking about the two bedroom suites at the BC or the two bedroom villas at the BCV?
