So I have a dilemma and need some advice from my fellow dissers please. I applied for the SW credit card on May 12th and still haven't heard anything. I've been told I will be notified by mail within 2 weeks of applying, which should be the end of this week. I'm not worried about getting approved so let's just say that I do. My DH and I are taking a trip to Disneyland July 20-25. We have already booked our arrival flight, but we waiting on the answer on this CC for the return flight because there was a promotion for the first time you use your card, you will receive 16 credits which would get us a free flight. This is what we are hoping for. Here are my concerns: The rewards could take up to 6-8 weeks to post to the account. If they don't post in time for our trip I'm not sure what we would do bc we have to book 14 days in advance for atleast a good rate. Does anyone have any experience with this offer??? I'm worried now on whether we should wait and so or just book it. Help please. It would save about $350 if we could use this promo.

My husband recently applied for and was approved for the Chase SW credit card. The offer he received was targeted to him and had a benefit of 32 flight credits. It took a few weeks after the first statement closing date for the flight credits to post. I want to say he applied at the beginning of March, card was in hand by mid March, and the credits posted at the end of April.

You have quite a while to use a rapid reward ticket. If it was me I would just book my return flight and use the reward at a later time.

If you want the definite answer...you could post your question on FlyerTalk--those people are the experts.

I am not sure about the bonus credits you are asking about, but for regular use, the credits post right away, so it'll be easy for you to use in the future!!

I am surprised that a one way flight is $350 - that's nuts!!! Good luck to you though!

:)

Most likely your credits will post in time. Your biggest problem will probably be your destination & time of travel. Most locations in California are popular in the summer. The standard rapid reward ticket offers limited seating for each flight. Those flights may already be full even if you had a rapid reward ticket today. You would have to use twice as many points to upgrade to a freedom reward to have no blockout dates. Which would not be worth it at that pricepoint. I would call Southwest and see how many standard reward seats are left for the flight you are interested in. This will give you an idea of whether to wait to book or not.

Do you have Southwest's Ding downloaded to your computer? I got $89. flights!! for our DL trip!!

Thanks for the flyertalk! I had never heard about this site and it really has helped. Thanks so much!

What number should I call? The ressie number or the rapid rewards number?
