I don't know if this is in the right forum!
I just want to know a little bit more about the photopasses they have now at Disney?

Do they charge for the card in the first place? Do you have to pay to access the photos once you get home? Will they have a 'Disney' watermark on them if I don't print them through PhotoPass?

Are they a good idea to get one, or not?

Sorry for all the questions! It's been a long time since I last went to Disney, and I cannot wait for my next holiday!!

The answer to your questions are:
No, there is no charge for the photopass. You do not have to pay to access your photos once you get home. If I understand correctly, you can not print your own photopass photos. You will either need to order a CD which will have all of the pictures on it and then you are free to order any that you like from say Walgreens, Target, etc., or order individual pictures from the photopass site.

I suggest preordering your CD which is $99 and then you will have ALL of the pictures on the pass. You can edit your photos with borders, etc and can easily end up with 100's of pictures! If you order just a few pictures from the photopass site, I think they are around $12.95 PER PICTURE!!!! It is a much better deal to just get the CD and then you can get as many as you want.

There is a link somewhere with the prepurchase site, maybe someone can post it for you. I would highly recommend doing the photopass and ordering the CD!!!!

Hope this helps!

She is correct preordering is the way to go. I ended up with 500 pictures in the end. Just make sure you take the oppurtunities while in the park to get your picture taken... with characters in front of major landmarks and such. I was so surprised when i came home and uploaded all my cards (yes i ended up with about 5 i think). The pictures were awesome and it was one of the only ones i had of the two of us. You can then add many boarders and signatures and such.

Hope this helps. LISA

The card, or many cards if you leave one behind and start another are FREE. The photographers have them.

You make an account and can preview the photos and edit them. You pay when you order a product. They only stay on you account for 30 days.

Seeing the disparity in costs it may or not be a good idea to use it. It's handy with charater greetings. The other PPphotgraphers are in typical place in from of the castle and spaceship earth ect...

If you get the CD it's expensive but you can put all the pictures on your computer and do what you want. This is best for people who get many many many photos taken while in the parks. If you just want a couple nice photos it's better to order them at the high costs.

We just returned in March and found that you could no longer pre-order the CD from the website, a special offer had to be given to you. This offer will only come if you booked you ressie directly through WDW. We used a TA, so I contacted her and they issued me a discount for when I placed my order for the CD after my trip. It was well worth the money. The photos are awesome and the borders etc, make them special.

If you want to know if they are running a deal for CD's or anything else. Join(like) the Photo Pass Service group on facebook.

Thanks for all your help guys...

I'm guessing pre-ordering the CD is the exact same process of you're living in the UK?
One final question (I promise!!) - how available are the photographers? I've been before, and they are hardly around at all! And the Photopasses can be used for ride photos too, can't they?

As I said, thanks for all your help :goodvibes

These are really good questions.

The Photographers seem to be in more locations during busier periods and just basic ones when it is slow. They don't wander around, they have specific stations. They are also with almost every character greeting.

The photpass.com site has maps of the parks with locations. But like I said they get trimmed down from there.

For the on ride photos, no. The only ride where the on ride photo can be added is Test Trak.

if you go to this site and pre-pay ($99) it'll save you $50. Yiu won't actually receive anything, the credit will sit in your photopass account until you add your photo's after your visit. When you upload your photo's, you get the opportunity to add borders etc to them and then when you've done all that (within the 30 day limit of first adding your pics to your account) you can order your CD's! Last time we did this (Dec 2007) we had over 1900 pics as I added loads of borders etc and they were sent to us on 5 discs! I took them into Boots and printed off standard prints and enlargements (there is a declaration on the discs themselves giving you copyright permission to print them off for your own use ie not for magazine's, advertising etc.

Nearly forgot to say, the first photopass photographer you see, tell them you have pre-paid for the CD and that you need a photopass card. You then use this same card everytime you use a photopass photographer, altho' you can get an additional one if you forget it - then you would add both cards to your account to get all the photo's taken.
Phew - that was a long one, hope it was useful:)

Thank you so much for all your help!!

I'm not sure how likely I am gonna preorder the disk, especially as we tend to buy ride photos, and it seems silly that they arent included! And, seeing as my family is of 8 people ranging from 15-67, I don't think we'll be lining up for lots of character meet and greets!

But, like I said, I appreciate all your help and advice! I'll have to to see what my Mum thinks :goodvibes

They are really handy for taking group shots, but yes, the CD can be expensive if you just want a handful of pictures. However, if you want several copies of a picture, it's going to add up quickly at what they charge. We find it very handy to use Photopass when we're traveling with a group because everyone can have whatever pictures taken and throw them all onto one CD (as long as they are only viewed on one account).

The photographers are in front of the major "icons" for each park and the scenic places. Character greetings. I've also seen them by the waterfall in Canada, near the troll statue in Norway, in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique... If you have certain meals, they will take your picture on the way in and give you a photopass code you can add to your account if you buy the portrait. (Then you can share the picture with everyone in your group.) They'll take casual shots if you ask them, although they do have certain restrictions. (In Epcot, they would not take our picture while we were holding alcohol.) Certain ones can add special effects (like holding balloons or Tinkerbell in the MK/Main Street USA).

As for viewing the pictures on the website, they are viewable at a low resolution. It really wouldn't be good for printing even if you could save them. (You used to be able to save them in non-IE browsers, but I don't know if they have addressed that hole in their programming yet.)

We went DVC and didn't get a preorder code. We did get a code once we got back but it's for $119.
