Coming up First......Princess storybook breakfast at Akershus!

Well, then lets get this thing started!

We arrived at Epcot around 8am. Our ADR was for 8:25. As we walked through the park, we noticed there was no one around. It was my DD's birthday so when she asked where all the people were, we told her that we got in extra early as a magical present from Mickey.

This is what the park looked like:

We made our way to Norway for our princess breakfast.

Upon arriving, we parked our stroller and I checked in while DH and the kids walked around Norway. About 10 min. later, we were called and we got on line to meet Belle.

DD was so excited we were going to meet the princesses. Her favorite is Snow White.

I took these pics while on line waiting to meet Belle:

Then we finally met Belle:

Right after that, we were seated. Our server was no where to be found for a while and we were hungry and eager to get to our first attraction at Epcot, so DH and DD got up and helped themselves to the buffet while I waited with the baby.

While they were gone, our server came by and told me that the hot plate would arrive soon and we can go up to the buffet and have as much as we want.

Once DH and DD came back, I got my food. Here is some food from the buffet...

I love fruit in the morning, so I was happy to see strawberries on the buffet. I think there were also grapes and melon.

Some of the buffet food was good, some I didn't care for.

Then the hot plate came:

There was plenty for everyone. The potatoes were so yummy. I mean really really good, but everything else was just average. Nothing special. Soon after the hot plate came, the princesses started to arrive....

First Sleeping Beauty and Ariel...

Then Cinderella and DD's favorite, Snow White...

Because it was DD's birthday, they brought her a free birthday cupcake. She didn't like the frosting and only ate the cupcake.

It came with a birthday card signed by the princesses.

In between this somewhere, our pictures came and were included with the meal, and they came out very nice. We got 1 big 8x10 and 4 smaller 4x6's.

This meal took over an hour, and cost around $80.
The princesses were very rushed and spent around a minute at our table.

Food rating: 6 (potatoes were 10)
service: 6
value: 5
Overall: 6
Would I go back? Not anytime soon.

Next up: Snacks at Epcot and Electric Umbrella.

Thanks for reading!

We ate at Akershus in May 2009 and had a very similar experience. The characters were great but the food was mediocre to poor and the server was fair. Everyone is so complimentary of this place I started thinking maybe my experience was an anomaly. I'm glad it wasn't just me.

I can't wait to hear more. Especially about Tusker House.

Great review so far !

Looking forward to more !! :goodvibes

(How Ariel can look SO awake at that hour is beyond me... :) )

DD got a bday card. That's so cool!!! We did DD bday lunch there in Dec but no card. That is a great keepsake.

Yes, you are not the only one. I really thought it would be great because DD would get to spend her birthday with the princesses, but I really just thought it was just ok.

Thanks for reading.

Yeah, its so cool that she got a card signed by the princesses. We didn't get her an autograph book this time cuz she had 1 in 2006 and already got their autographs, but this was nice.

Wonderful start and great pictures
Your kids are so cute :goodvibes

Thanks.

I love your detailed picture-review. Subscribing!

Thanks.

I'm in. We actually decided to cancel Akershus since we're having lunch at CRT.

I had dinner at CRT and thought it was just ok as well. If I had to choose between the 2 though, it would probly be CRT as you get to dine inside the castle. But, other than that I didn't really care for the food or characters much in either.

Thanks for reading everyone. More coming up later today!

Great start, we love Akershus especially at breakfast, I like the great choice of pastries and fruit, love the coffee and potatoes though.

Your children are adorable, looking forward to more,.

While waiting for our turn to use our fastpasses, I thought it would be a great idea to get out of the heat and go into the land to grab some snacks at Sunshine seasons.

I really really wanted to try a strawberry shortcake after seeing the pics here on the disboards of it.

So, off we went to the bakery. The lady was already waiting for us with plates in her hand and asked what we wanted. I of course ordered the strawberry shortcake I'd been waiting to try for months. DD also got the same, and DH ordered a choc. chip muffin.

We also got a coke to share before checking out.

This was so yummy!!!

DD only had about half of it, but she doesn't eat much.

Here is DH's huge muffin:

He said this was just ok. Not great. Kinda dry.

Rating for snacks: 7

I would return to sunshine seasons even just for the strawberry shortcake.

One day, I'd like to try lunch here too though.

We toured some more and then we got to China. In our 2006 trip, we were starving and tried the egg rolls at lotus blossom cafe. They were sooooo good. So, this time we had to have some again. I ordered 2 sets of them (so 4 egg rolls all together). The CM's were fast and made sure I knew that there was pork inside the egg rolls.

We found a table, but they were outside and it was so hot. The tables were under a cover but thank goodness we only ordered egg rolls and not a whole meal because I don't know how I would have sat in that heat more than a few minutes.

The egg rolls themselves were just ok this time. Not sure why they didn't taste as good. The only thing I can think of was that last time we were starving so they tasted better. :confused3

Here is a picture of the egg rolls:

We ate one before I took the pic....sorry.

Lotus blossom cafe snack rating: 7

After taking a break in the hotel, we headed back to epcot for dinner and illuminations. It was a little more crowded this time:

131.jpg

We knew we would be eating a counter service meal, but we didn't know where. I usually plan everything out in advance, but I just played it by ear this time depending on what time we got back to epcot. Well, it would soon be time for illuminations and everything in FW was starting to close soon, so the most convienient spot would be the Electric Umbrella.

ElectricUmbrella_00.jpg

We parked our stroller and went inside. There were lots of lines for ordering. I picked the shortest one and it moved fast.

DH and I both ordered burgers and DD ordered a kids chicken nugget meal.

We got a table by the window and watched people go by enjoying their day at Epcot.

132.jpg

This was surprisingly very good. DH and I both liked it and it was filling. Each burger had two beef patties, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato and came with fries.

133.jpg

DD is very picky and she usually doesn't finish her nuggets at McDonalds but she almost finished these. She loved them and said these were the best she ever had!

Wow! That's a pretty high remark for my picky DD!

Food rating: 9
service: 9
value:8
Overall: 9

We would surely consider this place again!

Next up:
Contempo cafe breakfast, DHS snacks and Sci fi dinner!
