I Kicked it I Played it and now..Wheeling & Dealing at the WL final 9/9 p87/88

Glad to hear Denny was still able to get on the plane without his license!

I always freak out a little in line before I hand over my id I always feel like I don't have it :confused3 I have also gotten a once over from a security person after she looked at my id picture so it freaks me out a little :lmao:

I wear my little Pop century necklace with the waterproof compartment around my neck from the minute I hit the airport. I look like a dork, but at least I always know where my license is.

:rolleyes1 Denny did get a little freaked out on the way back in orlando. They weren't quite as nonchalant as Baltimore! :rolleyes1

Great Disney sign picture!!!!!

Can't wait to see all the rest of your WL pics!

Thanks....and I took that picture from the back seat. Love this camera!

:lmao: on our honeymoon, we had booked a compact car. On arrival they tried to sell us an upgrade which we declined. they then informed us that they didn't have any compact cars and we were upgraded for free

Nothing like a free upgrade! (Cover your ears Mr. I Wont Rent a Car) We got upgraded to a minivan on one of our trips. We paid $150 for 9 days and got this great minivan with satellite radio. Now that's an upgrade!

I have to laugh because just this morning for some reason I was thinking that Mr-I-won't-rent-a-car hasn't shown up on the Dis for quite awhile :rotfl2:

Oh...he always come to visit during my TR's!

Glad you like my pics so far. Many more to come!

YOU RENTED A CAR ON YOUR HONEYMOON???? That makes me very, very sad. :sad2:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

See... I made your day! It's Disney transportation all the way next trip! :thumbsup2

GASP! I would just die if I lost my DL at any time, much less right before a trip! It is good to know that there are ways around that rule, though!!

Normally I would be flippin out. But after the month I put in it seemed almost apropos!

But seriously, people must lose the DL all the time when they are returning from a trip, so I guess airport security is used to it.

Okay....finally caught up (I was trying to update my PTR). Denny sounds just like my DH...he is always "misplacing" something. One year, he lost $60 at the airport. We got our baggage checked and I asked him to get me a coffee while I was taking the boys to the bathroom. So we get out of the bathroom and there is no coffee. I said, "are they closed?" He said, "no, I can't find my money." Darling DH does NOT put his money in his wallet. He just folds it up and puts it in his pocket. I think when he went into his pocket for his Drivers License for check in, he must have grabbed the money as well and it fell out. I now no longer give him money when we go on vacation UNTIL he needs it. :lmao:

Wow! 5 pages and 3 updates in 2 days (or was it one?) You've been busy!

I'm here, late but here!

Holy pre-trip drama! I am so sorry about Brian and so grateful you were able to figure out what was going on and get him help. He is blessed to have parents paying close attention, trying to get to the root of the problem and not just writing him off. I'm thrilled to hear he is doing better.

:scared1: on the D. Just :scared1:. Top that off with a cold, everything else you've been through and you needed/deserved that vacation! I'm so with you, I don't drive on vacation either so would have been bummed. YAY for Chuck stepping up to the plate.

Has the license turned up?

Terrible about the illness. I can relate as I had food poisoning a couple of years ago between Christmas & New Years. There went my New Year's Eve celebrations.

Wicket is the name of my pomeranian. Son & DIL named him after an ewok in Star Wars.

I really enjoyed your last TR. Someday I will try my hand at doing one. I'm getting ready to plan my DGDs first visit to WDW in 2011. I will be taking them & their mother, maybe I will allow DH to go!:rolleyes1

Thank you for the camera info! Just not sure if I was missing something on my camera! I will say Rebel's take some fantastic photos.

I'm joining in for the ride too!!! My DS has adhd and the medication has been a lifesaver for me. It has also taught me to have more patience than I ever thought I had in me. Of course we haven't hit the teenage years yet! Can't wait to hear more about your trip.:thumbsup2

Love the picture of the lamp posts with the fuzzy edges...not a very technical photo term but you know what I mean :rotfl2:
I never rent a car but someday I do want to go over to the dark side and see Harry Potter so....

OMG! So many wonderful responses to my TR. I was really hoping for an update tonight, but I fell asleep on the couch. :rolleyes1 I worked four hours this morning, went to Nick's soccer game, and went to Old Bohemia (St Francis Xavier shrine) for the 4pm mass. I was assigned the music there. Our parish only holds 4 masses a year there. It is the coolest, most historic church. It dates back to 1704. I took my camera and took a bunch of pictures, so at some point I will post them. A historical society has restored the original house attached to the church and there are so many cool artifacts including some of the original vestments that the Jesuits wore. There is even a wrought iron that was used for making the hosts.

I edited some of my day 2 pictures tonight and I plan to work on my photopass pictures now. I promise an update soon.

Oh and GUESS WHAT?????? I could see photobucket pictures at work today. Wow - perhaps they did some type of upgrade or mistakenly removed the blocker. You know what that means.....I may be able to do a short update at work.

So I will leave you with this picture and be back with response tomorrow......

Hi MEK....so happy to be along on another one of your fabulous TR's. That whole DL thing made me get that weird feeling in my tummy, the same one I get right before I get on a plane....I am a tad OCD about our passports and check at least 17 times from our house to the airport that I have them.....it's a gift, what can I say?

Can't wait for more......

Well, I'm here- sorry so late!! Going back to catch up!!:goodvibes

Ok! I'm caught up! I almost feel like this TR is mine, my name was mentioned so many times on the first few pages!! :rotfl: I loved our DISmeet in DE!! And you have reminded me by posting about it that I never put our meet pic up. I'll get on that today. I was so happy the meet worked out, but felt so bad for you afterwards when you became so ill. My dog Summer was on flagyll alot as a puppy- for IBS which she grew out of. If you ever need it again, I'd be happy to send you my dog's leftover medicine!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sooooo glad you were able to figure out your son!! What a relief the adderall is working for him...also great that the first drug you tried was "the" one. He must feel so much better, I'm sure he was terribly frustrated!

Lovely pics, by the way! I had intended to play with my camera a bit more on this trip, but didn't get into it too much- we were too busy laughing at each other for me to focus, I guess!! :lmao:

Ok- need to do my OWN TR now-

Your DH actually sounds like me. Just wait. I am about to lose the room keys in about 30 seconds flat. One of the reasons I don't like cash is because its way to easy to lose.

As far as losing money at the airport - my friend's husband was actually scammed out of $600 when he went through security. They basically stole it right out of his wallet. It happened in Phila and they finally did a sting operation and caught the security people who were stealing the cash. He eventually got his money back.

Wow! 5 pages and 3 updates in 2 days (or was it one?) You've been busy!

Welcome Cynthia! :cool1: So glad you stopped by and you are far from late.

It was definitely pre trip drama time! If I had known how everything would come together like that during the last 6 weeks before the trip, I think I would have rescheduled. But I am sure glad we were able to go.

I knew once Denny couldn't drive it was not going to be the same. Chuck is a bit of a wild driver (sorry Chuck).:rotfl:

Has the license turned up?

Yes - it was actually stuck to the back of his Medco card. But in the drama of getting ready both of us picked up the Medco card and never, ever saw the license.

What?

What did I say? :confused3

It doesn't take much to upset some people, does it? :rotfl:

Terrible about the illness. I can relate as I had food poisoning a couple of years ago between Christmas & New Years. There went my New Year's Eve celebrations.
:scared1: Those type of GI bugs are the absolute WORST!!!!!!!

Wicket is the name of my pomeranian. Son & DIL named him after an ewok in Star Wars.

Great name. I bet he is soooooo cute!

I really enjoyed your last TR. Someday I will try my hand at doing one. I'm getting ready to plan my DGDs first visit to WDW in 2011. I will be taking them & their mother, maybe I will allow DH to go!:rolleyes1

Thank you. Maybe you can do a PTR for your DGDs first visit. Test the waters, so to speak.

So you DH may not be invited?? :rotfl:

Thank you for the camera info! Just not sure if I was missing something on my camera! I will say Rebel's take some fantastic photos.

I know I must be missing tons on my camera. One of these days I really need to take a class to really learn everything. I love how fast the camera is and I love the autofocus right on the lens. Its so cool how you can just walk on snap.

I'm joining in for the ride too!!! My DS has adhd and the medication has been a lifesaver for me. It has also taught me to have more patience than I ever thought I had in me. Of course we haven't hit the teenage years yet! Can't wait to hear more about your trip.:thumbsup2

Welcome bmidisney! :cool1: Thanks for joining in. Now that I understand how Brian's ADD has affected his behavior, I am a lot more tolerant of it. I realize now that there are things he wants to control and just can't and his angry and combativeness are how he tries to control his world. Its very strange to have this diagnosis so late in the teenage years, but better late than never.

Love the picture of the lamp posts with the fuzzy edges...not a very technical photo term but you know what I mean :rotfl2:

It does have a name in i photo, but I forget what its called too. :confused3 I should know because I use it all the time.

I never rent a car but someday I do want to go over to the dark side and see Harry Potter so....

Tracy

shhhhhhhhhhh! We may get another visit from Mr I Wont Rent a Car! But I hear ya on the dark side! :lmao:

Love your photos.
So sorry you had to deal with stomach issues before your trip.
Welcome Native NYer! :cool1: I am so happy you like the photos and I hope to post more tonight. I was busy editing some last night! I took way more than I thought, but a lot are dups. I have about 40 pictures of the geyser alone. Who does that?????

As far as the GI thing - better at home than at Disney!!!!!!!!!

Cool pic :thumbsup2 Looking forward to your update!

Thanks! I think I need to catch up on your last update!

Love the pic; can't wait for the next update.

Thanks! Update should be coming tonight!

Welcome Queenofallthings! :cool1: I am so psyched that you are here to join in.

I love what you said about OCD. It really is a gift in some ways! I say that because I actually have a form of OC, but I don't do a lot of checking and rechecking or handwashing or counting. However, I am pretty OC about checking for my DL on the way to airport so I know what you are saying.

The best thing to do with OCD is just laugh about it and go for the ride. My coworker has it and has to keep a really clean desk (she is a secretary). If one thing gets out of place, watch out! We laugh about it all the time because we are fellow sufferers.

Well, I'm here- sorry so late!! Going back to catch up!!:goodvibes
Welcome Ellen! :cool1: You had me so super psyched the Friday before I left. It was sort of surreal getting texts from you and knowing I would be there in another 48 hrs. It was fun!

Ok! I'm caught up! I almost feel like this TR is mine, my name was mentioned so many times on the first few pages!! :rotfl: I loved our DISmeet in DE!! Our Dismeet was fun. Next time you can stop at my house on your way home. I live closer to Rt 1 then even that Friendly's. So let's make a date for when you return from HH and we'll barbecue or something.

It was sooooooo weird to go from being perfectly fine to deathly ill. Completely unexpected.

Let's hope I NEVER have to take Flagyl again. It is so painful to know you CAN'T drink!

Sooooo glad you were able to figure out your son!! What a relief the adderall is working for him...also great that the first drug you tried was "the" one. He must feel so much better, I'm sure he was terribly frustrated!

I feel really bad about Brian. I really missed the boat on him for a couple years. Things had to get really bad for me to realize something was really wrong. His ADD was so atypical, but in retrospect there were so many soft signs. I can't beat myself up about it. I feel like he is now a little behind in terms of his preparation and readiness for college, but I feel optimistic he will catch up.

Lovely pics, by the way! I had intended to play with my camera a bit more on this trip, but didn't get into it too much- we were too busy laughing at each other for me to focus, I guess!! :lmao:

Ok- need to do my OWN TR now-

The only bad thing about the camera is having the two lenses. I felt like 50% of the time I had the wrong lense in place.

Yes - you better get working on your TR. I am going over to check it out.

So we had arrived....finally arrived. The Wilderness Lodge stood before us in all its grandeur. Welcome Home....so they say! Home sweet home. I had been dreaming of the Wilderness Lodge for 7 months and finally our check-in was imminent.

I did not do online checkin because we wanted to split the bill for the dining plan. So Chuck and I went in and we each paid for our respective DDP. Out came the cards, the map, and the big blue folder full of our sorts of information. Check-in took all of 5 minutes, if that. I grabbed the folder, keys tucked safely inside, and headed out to the car.

When we got to the car Chuck got us a bell hop and said he would go park the car while we went to the room. He said, "What room is it? Give me a key". Well - easier said than done because in the 30 secs it took to walk from check-in to the car, I had shoved the folder in my back pack. When I reached inside of the folder - Guess what????? - oh yeah - you guessed it - those 4 room keys had vanished. Poof ....Gone....They disappeared faster than a dollar bill at a strip club.

Serenity Now....I must have missed them. Deep breath! So I reached inside that folder again - still Nada. By now I made the pathetic announcement that I could not find the rooms keys, the very same room keys that I accepted just moments ago. So what does the man who lost his license say, "Retrace your steps".

WHHHHAAAAAATTTTT? What steps? I am 100 ft from the check-in desk. It's 4pm. We've been traveling all day. I am gonna find those freak'n keys. So I pick up my pocket book and dump the whole thing in the parking lot. Then I pick up my back pack and do the same thing. Let's just say that it was not a pretty sight - lipstick, pens, lose Prilosec and Advil rolling everywhere. And despite my complete disregard for my personal possessions, I still couldn't find those room keys. AAARRRRRGGGHHH!

I reached into my backpack ONE MORE TIME and there they were, hiding in a crevice at the bottom of my pack. Boy did I feel stupid. :rolleyes1

By now the bell man was already half way to the villa. Speedy little bell man.

We found our villa pretty easily. Our villa was a 1BR and a lock-off. I was anxious to see what it looked like. I've only stayed in dedicated 2 BR's, so I was curious to see the flow of the rooms. We were in 5526 and 5528 and we were on the corner of the building, which was actually pretty cool. Most villas are straight across. Our villa actually made an inverse L configuration. The 1BR faced out toward the parking lot and the studio faced in the direction the main lodge. The studio actually had a view of the top of the Grand Floridian.

I didn't take pictures immediately after entering the villa. But I do have pictures that I took on Day 2, so be patient. Because we were a corner unit, I felt like our living room was a little bigger than the LR's at Kidani or SSR.

So what did I think of the interior? Well, it was very old fashioned looking. I wouldn't even say it was cabin chic. It was more like cabin - period. Some of the furnishings looked a tad worn, but overall the unit was very clean and very nice. I bet it would be lovely in December with a Christmas tree sitting in the corner. However, I didn't like the inside nearly as much as Kidani. Kidani pretty much rocks and this was polar opposite. Not bad and nice for a change. But Kidani is more my style.

Chuck and Cathy were pretty impressed with our new digs and we all settled right in. Then we broke out the booze. They boys had a beer and the girls toasted with a glass of wine or two. Before we knew it, it was time to wander out to the boat dock. Our first dinner was at the Wave. I figured this was a great location for our first dinner. We could hop the boat and arrive at the Contemporary in comfort and style!

Here is the view from the master bedroom:

Looking straight out all you could see what the tops of the trees:

When we arrived at the boat launch I will admit that I made a bit of a rookie mistake. A boat was just leaving for the Wilderness campground. I honestly did not realize that that was the only boat that stopped at the Contemporary. For some misguided reason I thought that the MK boat also stopped at the Contemporary. NOT! Oh well - no problem - we had plenty of time and it was a lovely evening for the short walk from MK to the Contemporary.

Here are some views from our boat ride:

Locked and Loaded baby! Late to the party but I am hoping for a night cap! :lmao:

Haha I love the line about faster than a dollar bill in a strip club you are a great writer!

Glad you found the keys!

Beautiful view!

Can't wait to hear about your dismeet!
