We just loved Cinderella's Royal Table, is this similar?

Can you tell me what you thought?

We've done both (CRT and Akershus) twice. We loved them both. We actually prefer Akerhsus for the princess interaction. THey have a little more time at each table. And it still looks like a castle inside.

We did CRT lunch and Akershus BF last trip. WE loved both. The princesses interact more at Akershus. I really liked my lunch at CRT and the food at Akershus was great too!

We've also done both and prefer Norway, the characters do spend more time at the tables and the price is better.
However, the castle experience is pretty cool, but once we did it, won't probably again for a few years.

I agree with the others. We have done both and we prefer Akershus over CRT hands down. Don't get me wrong, we love being inside the castle, but that is it. As for character interaction and food, Akershus wins us over. Plus the price difference is why we go back to Akershus each visit. If we do do CRT again, we would like to do dinner.

I've been to both and it is Akershus hands down.

I am an odd duck because I could care less about the Princesses, I am there for the food. Even though they have "dumbed it down" in the past year regarding the food, the Princesses do more interaction, spend more time at the tables and there is more variety in my opinion.

We are heading down in September and I am trying to line up our restaurants for the reservations; when is the best time to eat at Akershus? I can't decide.........Please help.:confused:

I smile when I think that on our first visit to WDW in 2005 we did not make ANY ADRs:scared1:
But on our first day, while wandering around Epcot, we walked up to Akershus mid afternoon and asked what we had to do to make a reservation- they said they could take us at 4 pm and we had a magical dinner to say the least!
Last September, we waited 30 minutes after checking in to be photographed with Belle & seated and our ressie was for 7 pm.

I'd say go early before it gets too busy and you have more time to enjoy the princesses & wonderful food!:lovestruc

.....we really didn't care for this character dinner at all. I would say it was the least enjoyable on our trip last fall. We had lunch there - the food was not too great (in the opinion of our table) it was a little odd to the American palate I think (watch if you have picky eaters), it was expensive for what you got, and the atmosphere was a little lacking. It did not seem at all "magical" like the Castle. That said, it did have some advantages, the princesses did spend some more time with the girls.

I think maybe breakfast might be safer as far as food selection.

I would not do this one again though, but will definitly do the castle and some other charachter dining experienecs again.

Like I said, just my input.... everyone has their own thoughts!! :)

Done breakfast and dinner at both Akershus and CRT and if at all possible we will do a meal at both on our next trip so suffice it to say we love both.

Pros and cons for us are as follows:

CRT - love the guarantee to meet Cinderella (she was DD's favourite princess until last trip when she switched allegiance to Ariel!) love the fact that you are eating in the castle - this persuades DH and DS that this is a good venue as they love to feel that they are seated in the icon. love the wands the girls are given. No hates here but the negatives are the obvious one of the cost and the fact that the tables being so close together means you often get other people in your photo shots. We like the food at both meals but prefer dinner at CRT. You will not get food value for money at this WDW restaurant but you are paying for the location. Good but not great character interaction. Also some strange 'princesses' we have had Mary Poppins/Alice in Wonderland and Wendy Darling during past trips.

Akershus - love the buffet starter for both meals. Much better character interaction, and great rotation of princesses (just wish they had Pocahontas and waiting for Tiana to arrive). Great value for money, prefer breakfast to dinner but it's a close call. Negative here is location and ambience - just another restaurant in appearance imho.

I have a question, which I know has been answered before, but I never paid attention to it because it didn't apply to me.

My understadning is that for CRT, CP or Akershus you can enter the park early if you have breakfast reservations and don't need a park ticket. After your meal, if the park has since opened, how do get out of the restaurant without entering the park? I know I didn't word that well, but I think you understand.

Trust me, I'M NOT trying to sneak into the park, it's just that I've been thinking about the question and now it's driving me crazy. And, it just occurred to me that maybe I'm wrong , maybe you do need to have a park ticket to get to breakfast?

We went to the Princess buffet at Akershus and enjoyed the breakfast. The kids loved the princess interaction and the food was fantastic. The cold part with the fresh fruit and bagels and other items and then the hot foods delivered to the table. Very good

IMO breakfast at Askerhaus was the best meal we had there. We ate one of the first reservations available and had a lot of time with the characters. The food was very good with both buffet and table service. They had us go to the buffet for fruits, breads, etc and then served us the main meal.

We have eaten at CP, CRT, and Akershus for early breakfast ADRs that were as early as 730am. But, yes, you do still have to have park admission. They will you into the park prior to opening through a separate line at the gate, after they swipe your tickets.

I've done breakfast here before, but not dinner. I know that breakfast is served family style. So, is the dinner a buffet? For some reason, I thought that it each guest had to order off of a menu, or order a la carte?

Thanks for your reply. It was driving me bonkers wondering how people left the restaurant after breakfast. It makes sense that patrons would be required to have a park tickets. If I ever have any DGDs, Akershus will be on the list!

I didn't read the other responses, but I can tell you that we did CRT in May of 2008 and liked it for the princesses and for being inside the castle. Upon leaving we thought we would go again. The food was ok. This trip, I believe it was May 4th we went to Akershus for lunch and this changed our opinion a little. First, we thought the food was delicious despite being a little leary upon making the ADR. It actually was probably the best meal we had all week and we had some really great ADRs. Next, the princess interaction was fabulous. We met Cindy, Belle, Snow White, Aruora and Ariel. They spent an adequate amount of time with our kids and were great. We would do this meal again before CRT. It is also cheaper/takes less dining plan points. However, when my youngest daughter is old enough to care we will probably take her to CRT once. Hope this helps!
