Buying Groceries...delivery or are there stores on site?

I am hoping to buy some basics to keep in our room, things like a half gallon of milk, loaf of bread, bottled water, etc. Are there places on site to buy these things? We will not have a car while we are there, so I was also looking into having some stuff delivered.

In case it matters, we are staying at POFQ.

Thanks...newbie here and I haven't a clue!

I have NEVER used this delivery site; however, it was recommended to us by some friends…www.gardengrocer.com. We have always driven in the past and drive to get something if we need it; however, I keep this service in mind “Just in Case”.

We have used Garden Grocer once and would recommend it. At least some of the resorts have little stores, but the selection isn't vast and the prices are high.

We used Garden Grocer twice. They are great and I would definitely use them again.

We've used Garden Grocer twice and have been quite pleased. If you have no car, it's the way to go, IMHO. We're using them again in August.

There are spots in each Disney resort to purchase foodstuffs....milk, cereal, snacks, etc. However, as convenient as they are, the prices are high. Garden Grocer prices seem to be on a level with our prices at home or maybe a smidge higher. Definitely better that at WDW. And the variety is much better.

Plus if you have Pepsi (or Gatorade!) drinkers in your group, you can't buy those products on-site anywhere @WDW.

WE had a great experience with Garden Grocer, and will be using them our next trip. One thing to know, that you can only order on-line.

How do you order online ahead of time if you don't know the room/villa you will be in yet? Does GG just deliver to the front desk?
We will be staying at SS Treehouse Villas and it seems a long walk to carry groceries back from front desk?

We've ordered from Garden Grocer several times and have been very pleased. The prices are decent, a smidge higher than at home, but having everything delivered when we arrive has been invaluable since we don't rent a car. Each time we have ordered, our groceries have been delivered before we even got to the resort. Bell services held everything for us and delivered it to our room for us. They even have a way to refrigerate the things that need to be. I highly recommend it if you don't have a car to get to a grocery store on your own.:thumbsup2

Is there anywhere you could buy groceries other than your resort if you do not have a car? Anyplace in DTD? Or would this be too much trouble compared to using Garden Grocer?

It sounds like you are just looking for basics for your room. Oddly enough, the Hess stations (there is one across from DTD) and there is another one within walking distance from BW or BC/YC has all the basics - milk, bread, butter, eggs, some fast food plus beer, soda, snacks and they are less expensive then the resorts. The one at DTD is just across from Pleasure Island. Otherwise, I also have heard good things about Garden Grocer.

We actually go with www.wegoshop.com. Marge is great and will either drop your order at the front desk if you give her your credit card or bring it to your room. There is even a place for SS Treehouse Viliages in their address area. I actually just placed my order with them for next week:thumbsup2

Good Luck!

I second that (Hess Express)...

I was quite surprised -- here's another tip -- the three Hess stations on WDW also have really good pizza that you don't have to go 5 miles (or take-out a bank loan) for!

If you're not going to get a huge variety of stuff, I think the hotel gift shop would be fine. They carry some of the "basics" like bread, milk, juice, peanut butter, chips, cookies, donuts, cereal.

It might be a little more expensive than a regular grocery store, but you have to pay a fee for a place like Garden Grocer, so that probably offsets the higher prices. If you're only going to get a few things, this is the way to go, IMO.

I am staying at CBR and then Gaylord Palms for a tournament with my son. I will have a car and need to get water and Gatorade..Do you still recommend the Hess or where is the closest Walmart or Target! I hate to go in a store on vacation but will need lots of liquids in July Heat!
