We are doing to be at WDW the week before 4th of July. Does anyone know if El Pirata y el Perico will be open then. I was looking at the menu and I think we would enjoy eating here. How is the food?

Thank you All!!!

It should be open then as it is "seasonal" which seems to mean when it is busier. However even in peak periods, be aware that they still operate limited hours. I seem to think it is between 11 am and 3 pm, give or take. You need to get the guide from the park when you enter that day so you can plan around it.

I don't know if it will be open, but then again, I'm not sure why it wouldn't be open, it being a high volume time.

I can say when we were there for spring break, my son really wanted to try it. Service at the window was a little slow when picking up our food, but YUM! We both got the burritos. Although, I would say, think more like an oversized soft taco. The fixings bar was great. One of the best parts was sitting in the outdoor seating area and listening to the theme music from the "Pirates" movies. All in all, a great experience and as a bonus, for a very reasonable "Disney" price, it filled up my pre-teen boy, who sometimes seems like a bottomless pit when it comes to food intake.

It was open when we were there for Spring Break in 2008. We had taco salads and they were delicious! A ton of food! The toppings bar is great, too. We really enjoyed it. It was closed when we were there last year, but we went a little later in June.

I have been twice. In 2008 I was not impressed with pretty much taco or taco salad as the menu. But this past March 2010, we stopped in and I had an awesome beef burrito. DW had a massive taco salad. Good stuff.

We love this place. Been in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and went every time. This October I'm sure we'll head back. The "fixins" bar is loaded. Great CS meal!

I love the Pirate and the Parrot! I look forward to our "seasonal" trips to be able to go there and the Noodle Station! :thumbsup2 Usually during seasonal periods, I've noticed it's only open for lunch, not for dinnertime. In July, it should definitely be open as it's summer, peak, time.

I think on SUPER busy days, it is closed. When we visited MK last summer (this was early August), it was open. When we were there this Xmas, it was open (and we ate there) on December 22. However, on December 28, it was closed. December 28 was a very busy day--in fact MK closed because it was so crowded when we were there.

I love the Pirate and the Parrot!
We call it that too! One of my closest friends is Puerto Rican & "perico" is actually something very illegal in her dialect, lol. She laughs about the pirate & his {{illegal stuff}}.

It was open when were there mid/late July last year. It will probably be open around the 4th. At least I would think so...but what do I know..

What kind of season is Sept? Might be going in sept and would love to eat at the Pirate place in MK that never ever seems to be open.:confused3

I saw it open there this past Thursday (May 13) which surprised me since I didn't think May would be considered a busier time. So I would think it would be open.

I hear you! We were there the week before and it was opened also!
In fact, we'd had just eaten at LTT and walked by it and I was kicking myself as I always wanting to try it!
Thought we'd never see it open the FIRST WEEK of May of ALL times. :confused3

And the place was PACKED! ::yes::

I too have seen MK packed with guests, and it still was not open. Seems to be just hot and miss, unless they are keeping it open more often than has been for some time.

It was open when we were there in March, and it was great!!! We've missed it so many times in the past because we usually go in February, and it's often closed.

But knowing it was open and popular, we made a point to get there at 11:15 for lunch. No line! No crowds by the toppings bar! And plenty of seating. By the time we were finished with our lunch, it was getting very busy and crowded.

It is impossible to predict when it will be open. "Open Seasonally" is the strangest thing WDW does. Unlike, Sounds Boring, I mean Sounds Dangerous, at DHS, this is one "open seasonally" place I wish was open more often. Of 6 trips to WDW we have only managed to eat here twice.

Well you have us beat! We have been in Sept many times, Oct, June, Dec and Feb and we have NEVER seen it open. DH has a running joke, every time we walk by that place he says "Hey, why don't we try this place...Wait! We can't! it's CLOSED."
