1 Child and 10 Adults--A GG to Celebrate DD's 4th Bday :) TR Link is Posted

Hope the semester ended well and that you can get some relaxing in!

Thanks!

You're such a slacker!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Oh yeah, that's me. ;) :rotfl:

So I'm all caught up LOL!!!!! I was WAY behind!!!! Hope the end of the semester went well for you!!!!!

Sounds like a great trip!!!

Hey Jen! No problem--glad to have you back. :goodvibes I survived, that has to count for something right! :lmao:

Good luck with the school work!

Amanda

Thank you!

Good luck with your assignments and hurry back! :surfweb:popcorn::

Thanks! I am here, getting caught back up.

Yes, and Star Tours will be closed; and there is talk that Toy Story Mania will be closed part of August/September as well. I'm not a happy camper (especially since Mark will not be abl eto ride the big rides because he will have had back surgery two months before our trip).

I am so sad Kathy! I had heard about TSM, but I had read it is suppose to be done before our trips. So hopefully they will run on time!!

Oh no! My 6 year old will be SO disappointed!!!

Amanda

And I should clarify.... I'm not very sad that IASW is closed. My son will be sad about Star Tours and TSM!

Amanda

I figured you meant TSM and Star Tours. :rotfl: Though for us, IASW will be missed as I think DD would have really enjoyed it. TSM should be open for my time frame. Star Tours was not high on my list, though I am sure some of the guys would have liked it.

Say what?? Not that I love that ride (I really only go on it because I feel like I'm insulting Walt if I don't) but my cousin Adam wanted to go on it and my sister likes it!

Well, perhaps they will open it early? :confused3 I doubt it since we are smacked dab in the middle of it. :sad2:

Is TSM Toy Story?! When is it closing :confused3 I am glad they are updating Star Tours! :cool1:

Phew! Glad it is opening up for you! I read on a blog that they are adding the little bo peep game to the ride! That must be what it is. Thanks for the info!!

Hi Katie! I am glad TSM is going to be open--it was not there when we went last so it will be a first for us. :goodvibes

I'm sorry to hear that, I'm sure Lilian would have really liked it. It was one of Bella's favorites. But that just gives you an excuse to plan a trip to go back! :thumbsup2

I am sad Kayce. :sad2: I know it is only one ride though so I am trying to get over it and move one. I bet Lilian will like the similar things as Bella did. Definitely a trip back is a must! What about you--any thoughts of a trip back?

Someone just posted this on my PTR about Toy Story Mania (so it looks as if I'll get lucky and it will be open for my trip):

According to Stitch Kingdom, TSM will be closed between 8/15 and 9/04

I hope TSM is opened as all dates I have read indicate it. It is a little close for comfort, I go on the 9/11 and the date we are planning DHS is 9/12.

OH NO...Nobby (my traveling gnome) is going to be irate! He loves ISAW...he keeps trying to get the French Doll's number, no luck yet!!!!

WOW there is going to be a lot down if ISAW, TSM, and Star Tours are all down around the same time!

There is a lot going to be down at one point. I am sad about that plus with FL expansion and no one knowing exactly what will be happening at TT. Suppose to be opened through end of the year but they characters have been relocated, so I wonder if that will hold true.

Ariel's Grotto, Pooh's Playful Spot, IASW, Star Tours...possibly TT--a lot happening!

Bummer IASW is going to be closed, that's a classic and one of Emily's favorites. I'm sure Lilian would love it. You'll just have to go back next October with Nickie and I! We've decided to go the first week of October for the Halloween Fun Run 5K!!

Phew, that you'll get to experience TSM! It's a great interactive ride! Soooo much fun!

Thanks for the great pictures of Emily and Eva. You are getting really good with your camera!:thumbsup2

My kids really like IASW so I'm sad for them. But at least I won't have that song stuck in my head for months to come! :lmao:

The nice things about Disney is that there are so many great attractions! Even if a few favorites are closed, there's so much to do. I just love walking around Main Street in MK and soaking in the kool-aid. It must get absorbed through the skin? :rotfl2:

Amanda

Alright, I already complained about it on my PTR, so why not yours? I'm so sad about all these closings. I know, there are plenty of other rides, but I don't handle anything in fantasyland closing very well. Especially because I'm not so crazy about the expansion, I want to see it in all it's glory! Oh well. Worse things have happened!

Honestly if Lilian doesn't know what she's missing it won't be bad missing IASW. It is LONG and the song gets very old by the end IMO. I'd already convinced my kids that they didn't want to ride it. :rolleyes1:

Hi everyone! I will go back and respond tonight/tomorrow when I get a chance. The weekend is shaping up to be busy! :lmao:

So IASW is going to be closed from August 1st through October 22. Has anyone else heard this? Where the heck have I been? In case you had not heard, I read it on the Disney website--the calendar page when you click on a specific date.

Well, I guess that is one I should cross off our list. With us going right in the middle of those dates, I doubt it is going to be opened but we will go ahead and check while we are there.

Time to go do laundry and clean. :laundy:

Aww....man that is huge disappointment....:sad2: there's plenty of other wonderful rides she and you all will enjoy...but yes that hurts. During our June 08 trip POC was closed....:headache:

got to find time for those updates and fix it's stinky but true...

Good luck w/ your last assignment too and enjoy that BREAK...you deserve it.

Scrappie J~

What a bummer that IASW is going to be closed. That's one of Josie's favorites and one of mine too....on my first trip in 1987 (during spring break) it was one of the few rides you could get on without a 2 hour wait so we rode it like 5 times. It never gets old to me. :goodvibes

Like PP's have said, it's just a wonderful excuse to go back! ;)

Hope you're having a nice weekend Stephanie!!

:lmao: I may see if I can swing an October trip. :scratchin: do they let you book two bounce back trips?

Whatever is down, I know it is not the end of the world. Though I have to admit, I really want to try TSM. :goodvibes I hope they do not run behind schedule!!

Thanks--babies are so fun to take pictures of, they don't move! :rotfl:I have to work on getting a better picture of Emily. One of these days I am sure I will. :goodvibes

Yup, I agree (on both accounts). The song is notorious for sticking in heads but I would have braved it for Lilian.

It is true that there are going to be so many other WONDERFUL things that we won't miss whatever is closed. We will have a GREAT time no matter what. :dance3:

I can relate to this! That song definitely has staying power;)

:rotfl:

Well, that just stinks about IASW being closed during your visit. Lillian would've loved it. Like others said---There's your excuse to go back! ;)

Hope you're having a good weekend, Stephanie! :)

I have to pop over to yours yet--but I will be right there with you. :rotfl: I am trying to get over it, reminding myself that Lilian won't miss it because she does not know about it, etc. Definitely are worst things that could happen. :goodvibes We just need to keep reminding each other of that. :thumbsup2

Your first trip to Disney and you don't get to go on IASW! While the song can be a bit annoying (ok a lot depending on moods) it is a quintessential ride. It will be fine!! I just wanted to whine here on DIS only because DH would not be bothered.

Oh, POC that would definitely be one I want to go on more than IASW! We have not see the updates yet for it. It's ok--we will live! It gives us another reason to come back. :goodvibes

Thank you!! Assignment is finished and turned in (with a bit of drama) but I am free for a while before I have to prep for summer classes. :yay:

I can't believe it's a small world is closed either. Anything else they wanna close for our trips. I was really looking forward to Star Tours as well. I'm starting to get a little bummed out.

Thanks Leanne! I hope you are as well. :goodvibes

Just keep reminding yourself there are hundreds of things to do at Disney!! The kiddos are not going to be disappointed once they get there and start experiencing all kinds of new things!! A new resort, ADRs at AMAZING places to eat!! :thumbsup2

While the shock hurts, we will have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

I know I personally enjoy reading about trips, and starting today it has been five years since we have gone to Disney! :sad2: I thought it would be fun for me to look back on that trip as I am in planning mode for our first family trip with DD.

This trip happened almost on a whim. DBF and at the time her boyfriend (now DH) were up in January 2005 for a visit. We started talking about a vacation and Disney popped up. DBF grew up going to Disney. Her mother is whom I refer to as the Disney master. We thought why not? DBF’s mother, DGM as I refer to her as, priced out options for us. We narrowed down the resorts to POFQ and Boardwalk. DGM priced them out for us and gave us the amounts.

Here is what we settled on:

Where: POFQ, individual rooms (thought it would be too much to share one room together)

003_03.jpg

When: May 15th-May 21st 2005

Who: DH and I, DBF and her DH (then boyfriend), DGM and DGP

Our first day: Sunday, May 15

First park: MGM

First Ride:

Our first table service restaurant:

What did we have for our first meal at Disney:

DH had Salmon, rice and veggies
I had Chili and Onion Rings :rotfl:

DH's favorite ride as the RnRC
Mine, I did not list. :confused3

Others I listed we rode: Great Movie Review

This trip we were taking pictures with our first digital camera and a film camera. I have not scanned them the film camera pictures in but I need to do it, preservation sake at least. I hope you join me as I take a look back while I keep planning for our next trip. :goodvibes

Love the flashback pics. We went to Sci Fin in September for the first time in about ten years and really enjoyed it.

Well, it's not technically MY first trip. I was in MK for a day on my Senior Trip in '93 (yep, I'm that old, lol). We didn't have touring plans or anything like that so we just kind of wandered around and we left when it was still light outside. The things I remember doing:

-Space Mountain (I actually remember being in line for this one more than I remember the ride.)
-Peter Pan
-Splash Mountain (Which I LOVED!!)
-Toontown
-A show in Toontown that had characters from Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, and Rescue Rangers
-Waiting in a LONG line so my friend could meet Mickey
-IASW- and I didn't like it! I thought it was cute at first but after a while everything started to look the same and it was just sensory overload.

That's it, that's all I remember. No one else in my family has ever been to Disney and I don't think that's enough to count so I count this as my first trip too. ;)

I absolutely LOVE the pics from your '05 trip. It's so cool when you can incorporate memories from other trips into your planning. :goodvibes
