Hi All,

We are flying out on the 20th May (next week) and we are getting a little concerned that the volcano ash will cause us problems.

Does anyone know what affect (if any) the ash is having on flights from Gatwick to Orlando?

Anyone else a little uneasy?

Fingers crossed there will be no issues!! Cant wait for next week and dont want anything to spoil it!!

Anyone else be there?? We will be there for 1 week as of the 20th - its a week of Sea World with a sneaky day of Disney working its way into the plans too!! lol. :)

I know there have been a lot of delays but I'm not sure what the situation is at Gatwick. Put it this way: I'm flying at the end of August and I'm feeling a little uneasy. :(

A week at SeaWorld is unusual, do you think there is enough there to keep you occupied for a week?

Hi!

Hmmm - well I cant seem to get too excited, as I have this uneasy feeling about the flight being cancelled, delayed or just dangerous! I really hope things dont get progressively worse!

Well, we are going to Sea World, Aquatica, Magic Kingdom and a few malls so its should be enough to keep us occupied :) plus I could wander round looking at various animals for hours on end....... marine biology student here! :)

We are flying with Thomson and havent heard anything about their flights yet..... everything is crossed and many a prayer has been sent for a safe flight (and hopefully no delay!)

All you can do is hope that everything goes to plan. I'm sure it will be ok. :goodvibes

Ah, you're into marine life then- it makes more sense now!

Best of luck and have a great trip. :wizard:

Hey

I'm flying out on next Monday and getting a bit worried. At the moment virgin atlantic flights from Gatwick seem to be delayed by about 6hrs but apparently they've opened up more airspace so hopefully things might catch up a bit.

I just really hope nothing happens while I'm away!!

Hope you have a great trip and enjoy Sea World! :wizard: I'm going to Discovery Cove on 24th May - not doing a dolphin swim but looking forward to snorkling in the lagoon :thumbsup2

My work colleague is due to fly thompson in the 20th but from Manchester.

fingers crossed for you x

Wow - fingers crossed for you then!! If you get chance, let us know how you got on (if your flight was delayed etc). Wish you all luck too!

Hope you enjoy discovery cove - we love it there!! :)

We had been really looked forward to this trip until a few weeks ago! Just want to have a hassle free break from work!

Although I must say, im not sure we'd mind too much if something happened and we were stuck in Orlando! :) haha

I have been on whats called "The Volcanic slim fast program"!!Stress stress stress. We fly out on the 19th and i wont pack yet as i feel i will be tempting fate.
Sister in law works at Manchester Airport and she said they usually know 3-4 days in advance if their are going to be any problems. We will be calling her on sunday.
Also our friend is a pilot for Thompsons and he is due to fly out with his family next friday, when i asked him about next week,he knew nothing as yet.
I'll keep you posted.

There is a risk of UK airspace closures from Sunday because of continuing volcanic activity in Iceland, the Department for Transport said.
Disruption could last until Tuesday and could affect some of Britain's busiest airports in the South East, the Government warned.

Just what we dont need

:scared: awww please tell me that this is all a prank. I seriously dont think I could handle it if this holiday got cancelled. Its only a week long trip anyway!!!

I am now feeling really nervous - was going to pack the suitcase in a mo, but now feel like I am just setting myself up for a huge let down!

We are flying out on thursday - if it really does close until tuesday then we will probably lose our flights to people due out before us :(

OK, trying to understand all of this. Yesterday on the Met office web site it showed a graph of a prediction of where the ash would be and it said the ash was over Scotland, but no airspace closure! It also says today that the ash plume is heading south west, but Tranport dept says south east may be most disrupted. Can anyone make sense of this all because i cant :confused3

:sad2: We're due to fly out on Tuesday. Can't see this going ahead on time now. Feel a little bit sick now...
