Your list looks great Missy!!:goodvibes It doesn't look like there is too much left to do!! Great job!:thumbsup2

I am a list person too, and of course make my daily to do list every morning!;) But...I agree! It's so much more fun when you are making them for vacation!!:cool1:

I'm excited that you're going to do a little countdown!! I can't wait!!:yay:

The boys had some great ideas for gifts! :thumbsup2

I'm seeing mostly green on that list, Missy! Good job. :goodvibes

Yeah...I'm feeling pretty good about my progress. Today is HOUSE CLEANING DAY! All those last minute projects are on my to-do list for the day. :thumbsup2

Thanks Angie! It will be a busy week with all the last minute stuff this week.....but I LOVE IT!!

I'm really impressed that most items on your list are in green. Way to go! I can totally understand the ones that are in red though 'cause those are things that you almost have to wait until the last day or so to do.

I've been thinking all day about which memory I wanted to share today. I think I'll start with my earliest memory of WDW which is from my trip with my grandparents when I was 13. It was about 1983 and the only parks were Epcot (EPCOT Center at the time!) and the Magic Kingdom.

This trip was not just to WDW, but we went all over Florida. We visited Cypress Gardens, St. Augustine, Ft. Lauderdale, Kennedy Space Center....and maybe other places, but I can't really remember. :confused3 The memory I want to share IS from WDW though, and if you've read any of my other reports, it may be a familiar story.

My grandfather was the primary Father figure in my life when I was really young. My mom was 17 when she had me and we lived with my grandparents at first, and again after my mom left my very abusive birth father. Not trying to bring you down...just giving background. :) Anyway, my grandpa and I were VERY close! I still remember visiting him from college and he would slip me a $20 bill and say all secret-like, "Don't tell your grandmother!" He was a hoot! My grandfather lived to see Jeff and I get married in 1992, but sadly passed away from a severe stroke and heart attack in 1994. It was a very difficult time for me.

Our trip to Florida when I was a teenager is something that is very dear to me. My grandparents took me on a lot of vacations and we spent a ton of time together. On the WDW trip, we were at the MK and I remember getting in line for Space Mountain. Now, I knew what it was, but my dear grandpa had NO clue that Space Mountain was a roller coaster. NOT FOR LONG! :rotfl: He rode with my Gram (who loves roller coasters) and I and I'll never forget the look on his face when we got off the ride. He was shaking his finger at me and saying, "You tricked me! Never again, Melissa! Never again!!" He tried to be mad, but I don't ever remember really seeing him mad. He just laughed and kept saying it all day...."Never again, Melissa!" It was something we laughed about for MANY years after that trip and one of my dearest memories of WDW and of my grandpa. :goodvibes I don't have a lot of pictures of that trip, but I have this one that I keep on my desk all the time. You can barely see us, but we are there in front of the fountain. I'm not sure if this is at Epcot or if this is somewhere else in Florida, but it is definitely from that trip.

Now that I've shared a memory, it's time for one thing I am looking forward to on this trip. Well....it has to be riding the NEW and IMPROVED Space Mountain, of course! It was closed last spring when we went so we were not able to ride. I am so looking forward to it this trip! It's a great ride and it always reminds me of my grandpa! :lovestruc

I'll share another Memory and Wish for this trip tomorrow! Thanks for reading! :thumbsup2

Awww what a sweet memory. We often laugh about Lacey getting Mama on Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain back in 2000. On both rides, she looked at us and said "I can't believe you got me to ride this!". It's nice to have memories such as those.

You were blessed to have such wonderful grandparents.

Thanks for sharing Missy!! What a wonderful memory you have of your grandpa!:goodvibes My mom is so afraid of roller coasters so getting her on BTMRR last year was a challenge...even though she wanted to ride it for the boys, she was so scared!! We ended up sitting right behind her and my father and I don't think I have ever heard her laugh so hard. She loved it!! Such a great memory!:lovestruc

I'm excited to hear how you like the new and improved Space Mountain!! This was our first time riding it so we have nothing to compare it to but we had so much fun!!!

Your to-do list looks fabulous, Missy! So much is already done - now you can just coast to the end when it's time to leave! :rotfl: Seriously though....so much stuff has to wait until the end so it's great that you have almost everything else done already!

What a great memory you shared! That picture definitely looks like the Epcot fountains! It's funny how you look like you are both dressed for different seasons! He's in long sleeves, long pants, you're in shorty shorts! :lmao:

You're gonna love the new Space Mountain! It really seems darker and smoother and the glowing stripes that used to be on the cars aren't there so you really feel ALL alone out there in space since it's darker! I really enjoyed it! Plus you can get a ride picture now! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear more memories!!

Sara

Thanks Lisa! My grandparents really were amazing! They did a lot for my mom when my brother and I were little and things were rough. My grandma is still living and we are still very close!

Can you believe how short my shorts were?? Good grief!! :rotfl: I'm wearing a jacket so it must have been cool, but those shorts are something else!

I can't wait to see the new SM...thanks for the little preview! :goodvibes

The number on your ticker just keeps getting smaller and smaller! 5 days to go!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you!!

I wasn't able to do an update yesterday...so busy! I meet with a group of friends from my church every Tuesday and we have breakfast at the local diner. It's a great time and I look forward to it each week. Of course, we meet at 9 and can sit there chatting and drinking coffee till the lunch crowd arrives! :rotfl: After that, I had grocery shopping to do. I had just enough time to swing home and put away groceries before I had to head out to my hair appointment at 3:00. I love my haircut, by the way! I'll try to post pics later....I'll need Jeff to help me take a few good ones! Then....home to work on house chores and get dinner ready before I had a meeting last night at 7:00. Needless to say, there was no time to DIS. So sad! :sad2:

But, I'm here today and with only 5 days left to go, I'm ready to share another great WDW memory!

This one is from our first family trip in 2007. Jonah was only 6 at the time. My best friend and college roommate has a daughter the same age and she and Jonah are very close. We joke that they are going to get married someday! ;) Anyway, Susanna (the little girl) loves Aurora and had asked Jonah to bring her back a picture and autograph. Too cute! Well, of course, Jonah being all boy, really didn't want to stand in line to see the Princesses, but he LOVES Susanna, so he did! (Lucky for me, because I wanted to see them too!)

SO there we are, standing in line in Toontown with 100 little girls to see the Princesses! Sadly, Aurora was not there, but we saw Cinderella, Belle, and my favorite...Snow White! My very favorite moment was when Cinderella told Jonah she wanted to tell him a secret so he leaned his head toward her. She planted a big pink kiss on his cheek!! LOVE IT!! He was so embarrassed, but he was loving all the attention! Here are some pics from that historic meet and greet....and I say historic because I can almost guarantee it won't happen again! :rolleyes1

It's hard to see, but can you make out the lipstick "kiss"?

Now on to one thing I'm looking forward to on this trip! There are so many, so what do I choose?

I think for today, the thing I am looking forward to is that first walk down Main Street USA! Seeing Cinderella Castle, breathing in the magic, smelling the wonderful smells of popcorn and the bakery, hearing the music, and just realizing I am really THERE! :cloud9: It will be different to experience it without the kids and, as much as I will miss them, I am so looking forward to being there with Jeff. :thumbsup2

Only 5 more days and it will be time to head to the airport! Can't wait! :yay:

The pictures of Jonah and the princesses are so sweet. Your right though, it probably won't be happening again any time soon. Well, maybe when he really starts getting into girls and he may be sneaking off to see the princesses then.

I love love love walking down Main Street and just taking it all in. The beautiful sight of the castle, the pretty hanging baskets, the guys holding the bundles of balloons and, like you said, the smells. Ahhhh!

For those of you who have followed my other PTR/TR's, you know that I live my life by a list. Each day has a to-do list.....whether I'm going on a trip or not. But....the trip to-do lists are obviously the most fun!! :cool1: With only a short 8 days to go before we board the plane, here's how mine is shaping up!

that is a pretty impressive "DONE" list :thumbsup2

I'm actually a little sad that I'm not doing a big “10 Days to Disney” countdown this trip. It just seemed silly when the boys would not be joining us, but I admit, I'm sad.:sad2: So.....to make me feel better, I'm going to do a little countdown on my PTR. Each day, from now until I leave I will share a favorite Disney memory as well as one thing I am most looking forward to on this vacation. YAY... I feel better already! :yay:

I love the 10 day countdown too...so glad you are sharing special memories and the things you are looking forward to it :goodvibes

The story of yo and your Grandpa is so sweet....some of my sweetest memories of my late Papa were from a special vacation he took me and my older sister on back in the 80's :)

Can't wait to re-live more meories w/ you as the days get smaller to leaving :woohoo:

I agree...there is nothing like walking down Main Street!!:cloud9: I love it!! It's always what I look most forward to on our trips!! :thumbsup2

I can't believe you only have 5 days!! I think a dance is order...don't you think?
