The Wave.....oh what a disaster dinner!!!!

I was so excited to eat at the Wave considering Concourse Steakhouse was one of our favorite places to eat...thinking the service would maybe be the same..Oh were we wrong.

They sat us on time which was great. Our server came over. Introduced herself. Then disappeared. It took her 7+ min. to come back and ask for our drink order.


Then its food time....

I ordered the Seafood Linguini without the mussles. My Plate comes with the mussles on top. I ask for my plate to be corrected and it comes back AFTER my husband and son were done eating....approx 12 min's later. I sat at the table watching them eat! I wasn't to0 impressed.

My husband orders the Tenderloin without the wine sauce. Husbands food is right but the piece of meat was so dried up and small.

My son asked for the Chicken Nacho's...then laughs when it was brought out to him. It literally was 10 circle tortilla chips on the plate with lettuce and tomatoe in the middle..with cheese and some chicken. that was more like a small snack then any sort of meal for a 9 year old.

Not once did she come to our table to ask how our meal was...we had a 5 min gap between the time I was done my meal and to when she came for the dessert order.

When we were done our dinner we had to flag down another server in order to get our bill!!! but she sure stuck around to see what we were tipping her

Needless to say..we went straight back to the hotel and ordered a pizza!!!!

Maybe it was a bad night for our server but we will never eat there again!!!

The description of your son's nachos is reminiscent of my reaction to my son's "romaine salad" at California Grill. On his plate were three, count 'em three, small pieces of lettuce and on the side, some balsamic vinagrette. Our then 8-year-old was very disappointed, as he is a salad and veggie lover (I know, lucky us!). We had a chuckle and then decided we wouldn't be ordering that ever again. In fact, it will be some time before we return to CG (not just bc of the salad, but for various reasons).

This reminds me of our sons terryaki chicken at Tokyo Dining. 3 smaller than nugget sized piezes of chicken a tiny serving of canned mixed veggies and about 2 spoonfuls of rice. My DS was allergic to the carrots in the veggies and they woulden't substitute anything else for them. To this day DS (who is on the Autistic spectrum and can get fixated on one thing for ages) is certain every kids meal will be tiny and we have problems convincing him otherwise (he's nine with a pretty healthy appetite so this is an issue for him).

To the OP I am sorry you didn't enjoy The Wave because I have read other reviews online saying how great it is.

Sorry you had a bad time at The Wave, it is on our ADR list, the chicken nacho's reminds me of something that should be an app, in fact I'm sure I have shared an app somewhere that had more chips but was made up like that, just can't think of where.

sorry you had such a bad experience there...sounds like service could have been way better! We've eaten there twice & had great food & service both time, but I know there's a chance of getting an off night on food and/or service anywhere. For example, we love the food at Mama Melrose, but 2 out of 3 times we've had incredibly slow service there. Food was great, service was way off.

don't remember any chicken nachos on the menu...was it a kids meal? I know those are quite a bit smaller.

oooo we love The Wave! Sorry you had a bad visit. We actually were unsure of this one and it turned out to be one of our favorites. The PP is right...you can get bad food/service anywhere.

We ate there on Dec 4th and it was horrible. Our server was non-existent and the food was just bad. It wasn't just us, the table next to us thought the food was bad as ours. Must have been an off night.

I have been unsure whether to make an ADR for The Wave, the menu just looks a bit strange and although I am quite adventurous, most of the times don't sound too appealing. I have read quite a few negative reviews recently so doubt I will make an ADR here. Sorry you had a bad experience.

We have an ADR there for lunch in June, but I'm not sure if we will keep it. We've been having second thoughts for a bit now. Thanks for the review OP, so sorry you had such a crummy meal.

OMG!!!...Your son reminds me of my dd8. She is also Autistic Spectrum and obsesses about things...at WDW it is the kids menu choices...at every single meal it is such an ordeal...which can drive me a bit nutty at times. This year, I was able to get her to order the grilled fish...she then proceeded to eat fish for 6 days!!! I don't think many people get the precocious personality and fixations/obsessions of Spectrum children unless they have delt with them...it can be quite trying at times. It is very real though and hits home when I saw a look of such relief on my dd8's face when I said "it is a buffet meal".

I am feeling your pain! DS9 has Asperger's. His current obsession is Spongebob Squarepants. We had the Spongebob birthday, the Spongebob Christmas, and most recently, the Spongebob Easter basket. Let's not forget the Spongebob watches that Burger King recently had in their kid's meals. He couldn't care less that we are headed to WDW for a week, although he loved it last trip, which coincided with his Winnie-the-Pooh phase. All he wants to do is go to Universal to hit the Spongebob store! You gotta love those Spectrum kids. Never a dull moment. I wouldn't change him for anything!!!
