Under- estimated restaurants

I loved my time at Nine Dragons, and it is my favourite restaurant in 'the world'. But it hasn't been reviewed or talked about much, and I think the place is a hidden gem. Do you know of any other hidden treasures on property? Please post as I am always prepared to try the new!

My family and I always love going to Sleepy Hollow in MK. I know that several places sell the homemade chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwhiches, but they just seem to make them "the best" here!

I love Nine Dragons too - we have always been able to walk right up there and get a table regardless of what time of day or year it is. It's always our "fall back" if we can't get in somewhere else because we don't do ADRs. And the new menu is great.

Sometimes I feel like the lone defender of Kouzzina, but I'm proud of it! This place has been ravaged on the boards with posters citing inattentive service and an overly exotic menu.

My family loves Greek and Mediterranean cuisine and adored the food, nor have we ever experienced a bad server there. Not sure why we have been so lucky, but I'm not complaining.

I also enjoy Yak & Yeti in the Animal Kingdom. It's never too crowded, and the restaurant offers well-prepared food in a lovely setting. I like sitting upstairs and watching the world go by in the park below.

Last January we booked an ADR at Captains Grille in YC as an afterthought. We just wanted to hit DTD our first day and relax back at the resort, go to SAB and eat on the property. We were not expecting much but left loving the place. I even enjoyed the steak here much more than a very well known (and hyped) restaurant in one of the pavillions at Epcot.

Goofy, you read my mind - while you were posting I was writing the below about the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club (years ago was called the "Yacht Club Galley.")

This is a wonderful respite for people looking for decent and reasonable table service in the hectic Yacht/Beach environment, where every other dining spot is over-subscribed due to the resort complex being "overbuilt" (facilities were designed to handle two hotels, not them AND a subsequently added DVC resort).

The Grille is overlooked by everyone staying at Beach and a large percentage of those staying at Yacht (which has a heavy conference clientele who generally are eating at catered sessions), so while ADRS are available walk-ups are surprisingly easy here. Menu is not exotic but everything is solid, breakfast offers an abundant buffet and lunch/dinners are a nice mix of (keeping with the New England theme) seafood as well "turf" offerings. Some of this stuff is very well done; the lobster roll available at lunch is actually comparable to what you'd find up in Maine!

The Anchors Aweigh sandwich at Columbia Harbour House is the best tuna sandwich ever . I also love how you can get yogurt as a dessert on the DDP rather than the other cakes.

Agree with Columbia Harbor House being a a hidden gem. Also feel Bongo's doesn't get the attention it deserves.Maybe because its on the West Side. Would also say Grand Floridian Cafe is right up there with being nice ,but not talked about much. Nice change of pace and Break from MK for a lunch.

I agree with most of the pp on spots--but the one that surprised us the most has been Grand Floridian Cafe. We took a adr as a spur of the moment change of plans. It turned out to have been a delicious supper--steak, and the atmosphere was so nice--beautiful.

It is my second favorite place on property after Boma. For anyone who is either health conscious or is wine drinker I think it is a must do.

It is my second favorite place on property after Boma. For anyone who is either health conscious or is wine drinker I think it is a must do.

We liked The Wave too and I think it gets overlooked. We were there for lunch at 1 pm and were literally the one of only two groups of people in the dining room. So of coarse we got great service but aside from that, the food was fantastic!

This past year, I discovered the Turf Club at SSR. What a wonderful place; I ate there three times for lunch out on the deck and it was fantastic.

People complain all the time about the CS places at Hollywood Studios, but I love love love Starring Rolls. I guess people forget that it's not just a bakery, it also has really huge sandwiches. There's usually not much of a line, and we go there every trip. They used to have a bagle with cream cheese and smoked salmon platter in the mornings which we loved, but I didn't see it on the last trip.

Columbia Harbour House at MK is a big fave with us, as well, although the clam chowder tasted different the last trip. But still, a solid place, and yummy tuna salad, for a cool change of pace!

And a trip to AK for me wouldn't be complete without stopping for a delicious egg roll at the stand in Aisa - they really hit the stop, and are very reasonably priced!

I think our picks would be Marrakesh and Garden Grill. Every meal we have had at these restaurants have been wonderful. The same goes for the service. We also love the setting for both restaurants - I can't wait to go back to both restaurants next year!

We also love Nine Dragons! Although I changed my ADR for my Sept trip b/c they took my fave General Tso entree off the menu! So we replaced it with Maya Grill who by the way has completely changed their menu. Im excited to try it and I hear they even have a guitar player that strolls thru the restaurant, how romantic, especially since its DH and anniversary trip!

Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD was the best meal I had a WDW the first time I went...its a counter service! Now its a must do every time.
