Christmas value time question

I have seen that WDW offers value season pricing in the first few weeks after Thanksgiving. We have always wanted to see WDW at Christmas time, but do not want to fight the crowds who are there right around the holidays. Anyone been to WDW in the first couple weeks of December who can tell me how crowded it is? We're thinking of an early December trip for 2011. Thanks in advance.

We've gone at this time twice. The first time was the day after Thanksgiving and it was Sunday before the crowds were nice and light! The rest of the week we walked on almost every ride in every park! And the lights were up and GORGEOUS!

The second time we went the weekend after Thanksgiving... arriving on the following Thursday and it just happened to be Pop Warner Weekend and ALSO filming of the parade weekend in the MK. It was very crowded and it was even raining the entire time! :sad2:

So my advice is try to schedule around PW and the parade if you want to see the lights but avoid the crowds! You won't be sorry. The lights are amazing... and the castle! Oh pictures do not do it justice. :lovestruc

Post thanksgiving pre X-mas is a great time to go. We have been to WDW that time of year 3 times. We love it. Pop warner is always at WDW the first week of December but it has never effected with our trips. The weekends are much busier than the weekdays. We stay on disney property and take full advantage of the EMH and go at rope drop times. We have never had long waits for the rides. The holiday extras are beautiful. Things to check out are the candle light processional at EPCOT and the different christmas traditions around the world, the Osbourne lights at DHS, the christmas show at MK. Also check out the different decorations at the resorts. Gf is beautiful. :santa:

It certainly isn't "dead" but it's better than Christmas week! Weather can be iffy (we've had 70-80's and sunny all week and 40's and cloudy/rainy all week). Weekends can get pretty popular and I'd avoid MK if you happen to be there while the filming of the ABC Christmas parade is going on. During the week it's not that bad, most lines around 20ish minutes (some walk on's, some longer like Soarin'). It is a beautiful, special time to go!

This is one of our favorite times at Disney. Lights at Hollywood Studios, decorations at all the parks and resorts, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas event at MK, less crowds and snowing on Main Street are all things worth looking forward to. As stated in others post...weather can be iffy, but worth the chance. Seems to be a little extra magic during this time of year.

We are planning our first WDW trip for the same time. I have heard the crowds tend to be much lighter in between Thanksgiving and Christmas - its a madhouse AT Thanksgiving and Christmas. But the weeks in between tend to be very manageable. Its the same way at Disneyland.

The weather we just have to hope and pray are on our side!

We have done WDW on both the first and second weeks of December. The first year we went the crowds were very low and wait times were no more than 20 minutes ( that was the 2nd week of December). The next time was a fair bit busier. I think more people have read about light crowds these weeks and also about how beautifully Disney does everything up for Christmas so the crowds have been getting larger every year. Even if the crowds were huge it would still be worth it to see everything!! We are taking a chance again this year Nov 27-Dec 5 !!! :cool1:
