A lot of people seem to be interested in the Disney Rewards $200 offer, and this is much better in my opinion, so I thought it would be worth posting. I applied yesterday and was approved. Willing to take the small hit to the credit score for two free round trip tickets!

Here are the steps to follow:

1. Create a Mileage Plus Account online (if you don't have already).
2. Call 1-800-421-4655
3. Say Enroll in Mileage Plus. You will be transferred to CS.
4. Tell her that you already have Account but want to get Mileage Plus Credit Card.
5. She will transfer to Chase Application Center CS.
6. Tell her you got an offer in mail.
7. She will take all your information and give approval (if you have good credit).

OR

1. You need to call 1-800-421-4655 in and immediately say OPERATOR.
2. Tell the operator you are looking to apply for the United Mileage Visa
3. Operator will transfer to credit card rep
4. Verify that you will receive the 50k bonus miles and fee waiver for first year.
5. Go through with application.

Good luck!

Hmmm.. thanks. I'll keep this in mind, it sounds like a great deal. If only I saw a trip anywhere in our future. lol.

Funny - I came across this post just as I got off the phone with Chase trying to convert my UAL Mileage Plus credit card to a Chase Freedom card. I've had a few too many bad experieces with UAL and am not interested in the miles anymore, and the annual fee is steep ($60). Chase has allowed - has even encouraged me - to convert other cards in the past from one type to another. So I was quite taken aback when they refused to convert this account - they say my choices are to keep the account as is, or close it. Of course, if I close the account, then I lose the 20+ years of credit history on it, not to mention a huge percentage of my credit limit. If they would do a conversion, then I would maintain that history and credit limit.

I feel like Chase is trying to hold my credit score hostage with this move - basically it's a pay the $60 or take a major hit. I see it as blackmail, quite frankly.

So - consider all that before you rush to get this card.

Oh - and good luck finding a 25,000 mile FF ticket these days - those seats are few and far between. Most tickets will actually run you at least double.

That really stinks that they won't allow you to convert. I will likely cancel the card after 6 months of use so I'm not too worried about any credit I build on the card (and I'm not too concerned about the small hit for opening/closing the account); the card's rewards simply aren't good enough to justify the $60/year fee.

With regard to the 25k FF ticket, you got me worried so I went to United's site and did a number of searches. No foreseeable issues for us whatsoever. I didn't see anything complaining of that on FlyerTalk or SD either, so maybe it's just your airport?

Maybe it is just my airport - or the fact that I typically need 2 seats at a time. I did some random queries and I come up with lots of choices when I need just 1 ticket, but alot fewer when I need 2, and most of them involve multiple stops and unreasonably long connection times. Hopefully you'll fair better!

If you are planning to cancel the card, be sure to use your miles before you cancel - as soon as you close the account, you supposedly lose any miles that were awards from that.

Good luck!

Thanks, I needed a Visa! I have all ther others and this is a good deal for us.

If I have a Chase Disney Card, can I convert it to UAL and get the 50K mile bonus?

FYI-
When I followed the above steps I was told that offer was no longer available. So I tried a different route that was mentioned on the SD sight and the operator told me right away that the 50,000 mile bonus was available, without me asking.

So what I did was to get the mileage account and then call the number and use the option to 'manage my account'. Then said NOTHING when asked three times for my name, etc. After the automated system fails to recognize your info you are connected to an operator. Then you can tell them that you want to apply, etc.

Hope that makes sense! And thanks to the OP!

Don't have a definite word on it for you, but in the past, when I've converted a Chase card from one type to another, I have not been able to get whatever bonus they were offering at the time.

You followed the second method I listed (or a variant of it). That's the same thing I did. It took me forever before I finally realized the deal is not dead. I should have stated that in the OP. Sifting through SD to find the current info was a PITA!

Thanks for posting the tip!

Thanks OP for posting this info. I followed the thread over on slick deals when you posted this. I called and got accepted ASAP and I had my DH call and he was accepted ASAP also. We got our cards within a week and used them ASAP. Points have been posted to both accounts as of yesterday. So, I called United yesterday and used the 50,000 from my account and the 50,000 from my DH's account and booked our airfare to Orlando for next spring break. This is so exciting as this saved us between $1200 and $1600 for the 4 of us to fly. They didn't have direct flights - but I can live with that for free flights. Just wanted to say "Thank You!!!".
