Sofa beds at SSR comfortable?

My brother, who is 6'4" and 200 lbs, is joining us for a week-long trip to SSR. He's slated to sleep on the pull-out. Can anyone give a first-hand report on the comfort level of the pull-out? Should we bring our aerobed as a back-up? I would hate for him to be uncomfortable all week. TIA!

I would bring the back up to be safe. I slept on the sofa bed last year in a one bedroom villa and it is not super comfortable at all. Nothing like a regular bed at Saratoga.

It's not very comfortable at all. My husband and I made the mistake of putting our then 4 year old to bed early one night (in the king size bed in the master) and sitting up late on the balcony. We thought rather than wake her we would just sleep on the pull out that night - big mistake! After that we even felt bad for her sleeping on it, so all three of us just shared the king bed in the bedroom for the rest of our stay.

I would bring the aerobed.

My son has slept on the SSR sofa and he is approx. 5'11". He had to be a little on the diagonal but found it perfectly comfortable. I slept on it myself and found it to be comfortable as well....but I'm only 5'2"!

I think the only people that could possibly be comfortable on that thing are those that like really, really, really FIRM mattresses or very tired, small children. Its pretty much like laying on a board with a little bit of foam stapled to it. There is no mattress. On my last stay in SSR, we drove, so we brought along a super thick feather bed AND asked mousekeeping for those foam egg crate things. It made it a bit better, but still nowhere near as comfortable as a real bed and mattress. I recommend bringing the aerobed.

We expect to sleep 4 on our trip to SSR and 2 people probably will not be comfortable for a week. That is a shame.

I actually found it more comfortable to sleep on it still folded up as a sofa. Of course, I am only 5'6" and it was a little cramped for my legs so that probably wouldn't work for someone taller. I ended up sleeping on it pulled out one night and folded up three nights. Not my favorite WDW sleeping experience!

I had three of us in SSR this year; and 4 in POR a few years ago. We were extremely comfortable with space for 4 in POR and very uncomfortable with space for 3 at SSR.

Double sinks in POR vs. single sink in SSR.

Have to find places to put the coffee table and pillows from the sofa bed in SSR all around the room; couldn't get to the balcony half the time w/o crawling over the sofa bed.

Barely enough room in the closet to put laundry bags in SSR, had to leave them under the sink with the make-up bags. No place to put luggage. Few drawers in the dresser.

In POR, we placed all 4 bags on the exterior wall next to one of the beds and only one of us was inconvienced. We placed the laundry bags in the sink/dressing area out of the way. Plenty of space in the armoire for each of us to have our own drawers.

I would definately re-think the idea of 4 adults at SSR. You will be so much happier in a moderate.

We have used a sofa bed at SSR twice. Once a few years back with no problem at all, however this time we were in a grand villa and the people who used the sofa said it was absolutely horrible. We ended up calling the front desk and were able to get one twin aero bed, but that still left one of the sofa bed. I'm including a picture. It is taken from the balcony above the living area and you can see the sofa. Note how it doesn't look to be in great shape even as a sofa. We really like SSR, but we noticed the wear more during this visit in January than we did a few years ago.

Sounds like you were in a studio, right? The 1BR has a ton of room for everything, and has 2 sinks - 1 in the bathtub room and one in the shower room.

We stayed at SSR in a one BR for one night in February when we stayed an extra night because of the storms. We were in the Paddock section and while the room was lovely, the sofabed was terrible. The sofa is really "light" - when my DH pulled out the frame, the whole sofa started moving with it. It was also impossible to put back together.

I'm scared of our stay at OKW in June for the sofabed. We're trying to decide to go for an Aerobed, or an inflatable to put on top of the sofabed.

The sofabed at BWV was great. So was the sofabed at All-Star Music. Depending on the time of year, I would consider the Family Suite over the SSR villa if someone was sleeping on the sofabed.

I will be at SSR with my two daughters aged 16 and 19 July 24-31. Should I ask for foam egg crate and maybe an aerobed? Is the aerobed queen size? Isn't the couch queen size? My wife and I sleep on a queen size bed so it's fine for us. My two daughters are shorter and thinner then us so maybe the couch should be OK for them?

Yes, I was staying in a studio. The poster asked if 4 could fit comfortably in a studio and that was my response.

The couch is a double. They don't have egg crate foam or an aerobed there; you will have to bring one yourself.
